We got about 6" of snow overnight, so we're busting out the snow removal tools this morning! Today we're running an MK Martin Meteor 78 inverted (or pull type) snowblower attached to the three-point hitch. Up front we have an HLA 2500 Series Snow Pusher. And in between is my good ol' John Deere 4066R. Last week we cleared snow using my John Deere Gator XUV865R and 6-way plow. Let's see how this setup compares to that.

Great video!! I've been running a Provonost 72" inverted on my 3520 John Deere for 5 years now, I can drive through 12+ inches of snow while I'm blowing without ANY problems. Driving over snow before you blow it is also NO problem, if it's too deep, just back into the drift and pull forward 5-6 feet at a time until the drift is gone. I have about a 1/4 mile driveway and there is nothing that compares to an inverted blower. I never wish I had a different blower. My blower is rated for 18-35 HP and 3520 handles it perfectly. Hey Courtney. Great video! 🚜 My 4066r is equipped similarly with an HLA 1800 pusher and Normand Hybrid Inverted blower. Ultimate setup is darn right!
another great video! I also have an inverted blower on my 3046R and love it! Same issue with hills where blower lifts off leaving snow. Will try your back scraper idea.

Your snow always stays on your property. This is a great setup. I live in a too dense urban area. The snowblower doesn't work for my current property. It's the best of both worlds though. Blower to blow & pusher on loader to push & stack.

I have had a conventional three point snowblower and have never had a problem with backing up. Hook up is simple and tackling large piles of snow is no problem. If it was a problem, I'd buy a front mounted unit and put a blade on the back for final scrapedown.
I had, keyword, had a conventional 3 point blower. I'd never get one again.
Courtney, This was an excellent video that explored the exact dilemma I have: Two properties with vastly different considerations. At home with a long, straight 14’ wide driveway and unlimited space alongside for blowing snow.
Then, a commercial building in a small town business district. Very tight operating space. A tractor mounted blower of no use and probably unwise due to damage risks associated with overall length of the setup.
I’ve reached out to you earlier about the HLA 1500 and it looks like the choice for next winter. Because there’s an occasional need for a walk behind blower (opposite side of our building), I’ll put our old workhorse JD 726 in my Ultimate Tool Rack, along with a few hundred pounds of cement block as ballast, and simply unload it for the 50’ of municipal sidewalk clearing I need to do. Using the KISS method. 😉
I needed to educate myself, as a first time/new compact tractor owner, before spending additional money on these implements. Your insight into dilemmas you discussed in this video is hugely appreciated and beneficial. Kudos to you.

Lee I use an inverted in a tight business environment. It works well, not sure what yours looks like. Maybe it’s possible. But I’d be happy to show you the one I do. Maybe it can help your thoughts.

When I go to Montreal I see similar size John Deere's with that type of snow blower running through all the neighborhoods blowing residential driveways. They don't have the frontend loader so they are very maneuverable. They were doing smaller suburban driveways with no problem. Even yours with the snow pusher looks like the way to go.

I had a feeling that beast would be awesome for clearing your property! The inverted rear Meteor blower with all the hydraulic controls, the built-in scraper is out of this world! Then coupled with the pusher on the front of that rig, it is a thing of beauty! I think TTTW needs a set up just like this for his new property. If that isn't the ultimate set up it has to be in the top 5. Definitely wishing you were my neighbor! hahahaha!

With the rear blade down , and the snow blower going. It leaves the driveway looking like a zamboni just did the job

For your driveway you may have to go at the breakover point twice. One time going away from your house will leave a pile on the flat spot but get the downhill section, then go back to the top pointing toward your house and back up so the blower is over the downhill section and lower it and that when you drive forward it will clear out the pile that is left. I hope that makes sense.
I put built in Homelink garage door openers in the overhead console. Open the doors, drag out the snow. Close the doors. Works for your own house. You stay toasty warm.
Yep I do that with my Gator at home and the tractor at the shop.
The back drag is a nice feature.

Listening to the music in your vids enjoying it. I have a little Kioti CK2610…sitting here in my Sierra Nevada house with about 5 feet the last few weeks. Need to get something like this. I’m mostly gravel roads and in grades…gonna do some research and see what is best
Not for everyone. Here on the Canadian prairies, as in some states, the snow will blow in drifts hard enough to drive on. Conventional rear or front mount blowers are needed. Looks great for your application.

This is exactly the setup we use in Norway we don't use the reversed snow blower unless u have a tractor with a seat that you can turn around like on the valtra or in the front of the tractor but this is usually only used when there is like 2 meters of snow

great video, I wouldn't change from my front mounted snow blower, the turn around and sore neck at the end of the day is a deal breaker.
Adjust the chute to not blow as far to not hit the trees. Also, you can turn off the PTO and pull quite a bit of snow if you have an area that you can't blow. Of course, if that area is really long, you can't have a lot of snow. But it easily does a couple car lengths.
Have you tried a hydraulic top link on the 3 point hitch, you could extend it to drop the blower for that ledge then as you drive over draw it back in to the kevel position
That’s good stuff not enough snow in Oklahoma for a blower or pusher but I’ve seen what these contractors do and they could probably invest lol. Don’t think you asked for any opinions so I won’t give any lol. Nice work thank you for the cold videos cam guy didn’t even flinch with snow to the dome. 😂
Hey great video...trying to decide between a utv setup or tractor to plow my 1/2 mile sloped driveway. I was all set on a utv but this setup complicates things! (I'm up in northern NH, I get ALOT of snow)
When I've finally made too much money, I'll buy one and have both! It would really help in all my inside corners and dead ends i have at my property, BUT it would never work in my back area as it constantly drifted and the tractor, as big as it is, wouldn't make it thru. I love the maneuver ability of a rear compared to a front blower, especially when I have the loader arms off. And how about the built quality of MK Martin Meteor? I have around 18hrs (yes, hrs) on mine so far this year and am amazed at the amount of snow it's thrown. I would imagine the front facing one has the same 5 blade thrower fan as the rear facing. The only thing I've noticed is my chain tensioner tends to loosen every 5-7hrs of use.
Consider using the float position when going over the hump.
Also watch for rocks with the snow out of the chute.

I do have a question though: would you consider doing a video with one of these snowblowers on a two wheel drive tractor? There are many of us out there with older tractors that would probably love to see how well this will work with our machines. I will be in the market for such an attachment later in 2021 as I think it suits my application better, and will probably perform better than a pusher on a two wheel drive tractor. How much is a backdrag with the nuts and bolts for a 1500 pusher? The one that mounts on top in front so you can drag in curled position? Local distribution is out of stock.

Courtney you are starting to like that snowblower....hmmmm think someone mentioned that a couple weeks back. A couple snow falls ago the plow driver who does the neighbors across the street....pushed their snow up my dive about 25 feet and into my yard...was not a happy camper. Great videos, keep them coming.

great video did you have to use the scraper to get it close to the concrete as you could? Some of my customers say that the inverter snow blower leave a very ice film behind. Any thoughts on this would be great. thank you
So I see this tractor is taller with the cab then the one you’re using this year. Where do you keep it at home. Think I’m getting addicted to your snow videos. No need for me to have a bud tractor for what I got but it takes me a hour to use my walk behind self propelled snow blower to do mine my aunts and three neighbors. But a guy can dream still. Love the snow blower and pushed.
Finally coming around on the snow blower! Naturally, you just had to turn it all around, literally, but, hey, it's a start and I am happy you're giving it a try! :)
I never understood why anyone would put a snow blower on the BACK of the tractor as you either have to drive backwards or, with this one, drive over the snow first and pack it down before the blower has a chance to get it.
BTW. The new Deere 44", 100 series snow blower with the 2 mounting sections is a piece of junk compared to the earlier version I had for my little L120. I know you deal with the bigger tractors, but it is what it is. If you ever come across a good condition L120 let me know, I still have the older snow blower.
Haha, I guess I don't get the big deal now about driving over the snow. It clears it just fine. If you watch the videos, as I know you do, then you do you know why folks would put a blower on the back of their tractor 🤣

How do you find using the the rocker switches on the summit box to change functions while snow blowing? You have 3 to switch between frequently for rotation , tilt and backdrag blade.

I definitely get the convenience of this unit, and I haven't read all the replies so forgive me if its been said before (that means I must be right, right? ;-), but there are a couple of situations where this wouldn't work the best form Me :
1). I blow my snow from my garage, 36 feet wide to a ditch ~140 feet straight out from my garage. With this unit you have to throw the snow to the side, straight back just isn't an option.). Most neighbors don't want my snow on their lawns.
2). We get some huge drifts and piles of snow. Needing to drive over them would not be feasible.
3). Driving over the snow before you blow it is not ideal either.
I do think this would be "The Cat's Meow" for a lot of people though as long as you have a better blowing area than I do. I really like the little blade they have to pull the snow away from the garage, that work pretty good.

In round numbers, if all three blower options were of equal quality would you say the inverted blower is basically priced in the middle of a rear facing 3pt and a front mount blower that requires all the extra parts to power/mount?
Did you think to put a rubber edge on the back drag so you could run some down pressure to really scrape it down to the pavement? Though looking at the video closer it looks like you have a polyurethane edge on it maybe. I does work great for larger tractors that can ride over the snow. Though I expect there will be those that say you still have to be constantly looking back to see what position your chute and snout are throwing in. You could drop the loader and load it with front weights. More work but in your work yard if the snow was too deep you could blow into a dump truck or dump trailer and then dump it out front if you got tired of pushing it up the hill.
What if you lengthened the top link some when going over that drop off to keep the cutting edge down more while you crest that area?
You have to stop doing the neighbor's drive... Just sell them a tractor! LOL
Would it possibly be more advantageous to back up to the garage door, drop the snowblower, pull forward 3-4 feet engaged, then raise and back up and do it again so the back drag blade doesn't roll the snow over back onto the clean driveway? Just my curiosity. Great video, one thing is for sure every driveway is unique!

Yeah, I need a loader almost every day in the winter. I would need to hire someone just to handle daily duties of swapping loader to blower to loader all winter long. Huge waste of time and money. If you don't need your loader all winter, then front blowers are great. Plus, JD 4 Series don't have mid PTO so can't run a front blower anyways. Thanks for watching!
It depends what else you have in the garage. I don't have a truck so the loader or pallet forks are my only easy way to get garbage cans 900' to the road. When I have my wood shop ready in the loft of my garage I'll also use the pallet forks as an "elevator" to get materials up there. I wouldn't want to be without my loader for 4 months of the year.
I like this inverted blower. The only issue I see is you can't blow the snow forward, which is necessary in cramped areas at times. I'll stick with my front mount for now.
That’s not entirely the case. I can blow snow forward with mine as long as I have some width to dump it. I can easily blow snow about 20’ in front of me at an angle from each side of the cab.
When I’m in an area I can’t discharge I just pull it out till I get to the dump zone. Then I let it go. It works quite well
Great job on the drives, we have a BX2360, do they make an inverted blower for that size of tractor and how much if they do? I enjoy all the tractor videos on you tube if it is you or TTWT or someone else, we can learn what works or buy the right size add on for the tractor someone has. Thank you for everything.

I noticed as you were talking your 4066 FEL has a nice angle to it. I have been looking at the 2032/38 a lot and notice the FEL has a very different angle dropping down to the bucket. Do you have any idea why JD does this with their FEL’s??
If someone blows snow in your yard, you take big papa with that awesome snow blower and return the favor!
On your driveway where it changes the angle maybe try using a hydraulic top or try going the other direction. I have to say I love the setup of your tractor.
Yeah, thought about feathering the top link, but that would be a real pain while driving. It's also a compound angle. So that slope doesn't just go down, but also slants to the side. Just goofy, hate my driveway, haha! Thanks for watching!
@@GoodWorksTractors Indeed, I get the reason to have a relatively flat and large apron area near your garages. Having the single steep drop off to the road isn't as desirable as the longer more gradual slope to the garage would be the preferable option, in my opinion.

Howdy, GWT. Would an inverted blower be a good match to the 1025r, or does it thrive better with bigger heavier tractors? I live in the Big Rapids, MI area.
Sometimes I use a small hand held blower or shovel if my back can handle it to create a safety zone. If I'm only getting a small storm I'll just use the plow but if there are multiple storms and I have no place to put it I'll use the snow blower and throw it over a tall wall and up the hill 😂
Courtney is there anyway to put your remote that controls the rear scraper function into float so you wouldn't have to worry about raising and lowering that thing every time or worry if it was down too far that it was picking up the snowblower? The very popular units from Normand and Pronovost seems to have a rear scraper that the operator never messes with, like it has spring tension so its always in contact with the ground when snowblowing vs hydraulically controlled on this model from MK.
Yes, I could put it in float. I was messing around with it in different settings. I could leave it raised, lower it all the way to scrape away from garages, or leave level with the blower and drag along. I make videos that intentionally try to show different variations so you can see how it could be setup. Thanks for watching.
I am really having a hard time trying to decide on what setup I want to equip my tractor with. I have a 1/3 of a mile driveway, on a fairly steep grade, in heavy snow country. I dont want to be driving backwards, but I am afraid to give up the ability to push snow piles back by blowing them. I am contemplating getting a front blade and the inverted rear blower to cover my needs.

Morning Sir. That inverted blower definitely is handy. Seems to do an excellent job. Just wondering how your particular set up would do in say 12-18". Kinda wondering how a smaller and lighter tractor, say 1025r or 2025r would handle something like that considering smaller tires mean less traction.
I wouldn't be worried about it at all in 12-18". Maybe I'd start to worry at 36" lol. Size the blower accordingly and ballast your tractor.liquid, wheel weights, etc.
I also would like to see a smaller tractor handle this with 12 inches of snow. Curious! If it works would definitely be the best option
Does anyone know how this setup would do on a gravel/dirt driveway? I live in Vermont and am having the hardest time trying to decide on either the inverted or front mount snowblower. My driveway is hilly and gets icy so I worry about trying to drive up those hills through 2 feet of snow, but I love the idea of being able to keep my loader on to clear large snow banks or branches that fall into the driveway. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Would love to have you as neighbor can remove snow at anytime, but I don't have snow or ice ,( maybe about once in 10 years), YA'LL CAN KEEP THE SNOW 😂, have fun .. from Southeast Alabama

why does the snowblower pick up off the ground on the drop off? Isnt it in float and will stay with the ground?
Good karma helping pull someone out of snow. It says alot about you.
I'm sure your rig has its uses but in upstate NY with the wind off Lake Ontario, we get drifts of 2 feet on a regular basis and quite often drifts up to 5 feet in a single storm. It turns to concrete and you can't push it or drive thru it. The only way to deal with it is to take a small slice of it from the side with my JD4310 and blower which you can't do. Chains are often needed. Heaven help you when you get older with a rear facing blower. I'm 73 and turning rearward tears cartilage in my ribs and gives me a stiff neck. To me, your rig looks like the answer to a question no one has ever asked!
Lol, no doubt you've seen it a lot, but recall there's millions of other people on the planet with needs different than yours. Countless setups like this in existence all over the northern US and Canada.
Sounds like your up near Oswego, if so you can certainly get a bunch of snow there.
I’m also in NY, Utica Rome Area. We use these types of blowers, as well as others in Cicero, and Ontario and other locations.
I have colleagues in N Dakota that have blown out 4-6 feet of snow with these blowers. They are quite capable. But there are limits.
The main benefit is they are so much faster that you can service many people as a routed service. We also blow the snow with the storm so we don’t allow massive accumulations reducing the need for the other blower to begin with.
This system is very well proven and just arriving to our area.
The blower in his video is based on an old design, there are newer, bigger and better designs now. But they aren’t normally targeted to homeowners.
@@315-snoblow Southwest of Fulton actually and You are correct. I usually do not blow out until a storm is over which may be 3-4 days. Being retired, I don't need to. I have 2 JD compacts: one with a front snowblower and the other with a rear blade and edge tamers on the FEL.

Tractors have really picked up in the home owner space. The blower he is showing works great for homeowners.

Sorry but this is for everyone who thinks it's alright or no big deal to push the snow that's in your driveway or in the driveway that your plowing, across the road. This also includes people who snow-blow or shovel the snow out onto a public road.
Not only it is "not your right" to put that snow into another persons property or out onto a public road. You are a creating a huge problem with the windrows or piles you leave for other people using that road.
If you need an explanation as to why, you don't have a lick of common sense.

Can you angle the snowblower chute further down on that model? I had seen folks operating a different model angle the chute down so that the snow is discharged just a few feet from the tractor - this allowed them to keep the snow from hitting nearby trees, cars, or going into neighboring driveways.
Yes, it can be angled down, but the trees are right next to the driveway. I would just be blowing the snow back onto the driveway.
@@GoodWorksTractors these blowers can do what we call recycling.
You can point the chute(with adjustments) to point down and between your wheels.
Then as you approach discharge you raise the deflector and let it go.
How are you liking those tires on the bigger machines? Do you think its worth the upgrade price? What does it cost for a 4 series (approximately)
I love them. Haven't had a chance to use in the field/woods/dirt/mud yet though, but I expect them to perform similar to the Versa Turf's on my 1025r. They aren't cheap though, close to $2,000 if I remember.

I always like to shovel next to my garage doors first. That snow goes in the blower.
what’s the minimum PTO HP for the snowblower?
I'm confused about the problem you pointed out leaving snow behind as you drove over that slope "transition". Isn't the blower riding on its skids with the 3PH all the way lowered to its max down floating position? Is the blower tipping forward onto the front of its skids, which could rase its cutting edge up slightly, as the tractor front end drops down over the transition slope?
Correct, so when the tractor goes down the hill before the blower, whatever is on the back wants to raise in the air while whatever in front is pointing downhill. The 3 point arms are down as far as they go so at some point they won't lower any more. That's when the problem occurs.

My meteor didn’t have a rear hydraulic blade.
I’m glad you found that to be the workable solution on that blower.
My solution was to remove my snow shoes, I also installed a hydraulic top link. That allowed me to control the angle letting me to catch the snow still.
On another note the 4066r can have a downforce kit installed and help with the issue as well.
What about TYM tractors?
Do you find yourself using the mirrors more as you get more comfortable with the snow blower? My guess is that the pull-behind snow blower is good for snow about 2-12 inches deep. Don't worry about the folks who dislike driving over the snow.
Yeah, mirrors are good unless it's windy and they get covered in snow and ice. Quite a few folks in the last Inverted blower video comment about using them for well over 12" of snow without issues. Thanks for watching!
What is the total combined weight of this tractor, snowblower, and snow pusher? Can you carry all of this with your pickup and gooseneck trailer? Or is it 2 separate loads?
Somewhere in the 9000-10,000 lb range. Yes, I can fit on my gooseneck no problem.

Has anyone put these on a sub compact like a 1023 or 1025 jd .and how are they for none paved driveways.
They are fine on a stone drive. Keep the blowers angle less aggressive, and keep it slightly lifted while you develop a solid ice base and you will be good.
Courtney, talk about overkill. You only need something like a 1025R for that little bitty bit of snow on that little bitty driveway. I'll happily trade you even for my 1025R and we'll bot be happy. lol
Awesome rig there. For suburbia driveways, I think the inverted blower is the way to go. That company sure didn't skimp on the hydraulic cylinders. That chute cylinder could lift the tractor. How many hydraulic circuits does that unit require? In my neck of the woods, I need to clear long rural driveways with deep drifts. My neck would be paying the price driving in reverse for long periods of time, but you can't drive though them before the blower makes contact. Would need a rear facing unit that hits the drifts before the tractor gets there. The blade could the be used for cleanup of for where the use of the blower would be prohibitive. You're right, a blower and blade/pusher combo is probably as good as it gets. Does your site have sizes, availability, and pricing?
How deep of snow and what size tractor are you running now?
@@315-snoblow I'm running a John Deere 5075E with the cab, 8' modified truck Fisher plow, and a 7' Frontier box blade. The tire sizes are Front: 9.5-24. Rear: 16.9-28 with the rear tires filled with beet juice. On flat ground and depending on the snow conditions I can crawl through 2' to 3' snow. A lot more than any pickup with a plow. There's advantages and disadvantages however, with the tractor it's mobilization and demobilization to distant remote locations, where a pickup has an advantage. But when the pickup got there, it couldn't do the job. Would be nice to have one of everything on every job. I can bring the bucket with me on the trailer if the blade won't work and I have to dig something out. Here a blower would excell. I would trade the box blade for the blower and run the blade or bucket.
@@danielmeyer403 I have gone through almost 2’ of snow with my tractor. I bust 3’ berms all day.
That said it would be harder to push over long runs backwards through 3’ deep snow.
However. My approach would be to keep the blower set about 2’ high and bulldoze backwards. Until you start to feel resistance. Turn on the blower and go forward to the entrance. Then keep doing that till you get to the garage door. It’s very surprising how much these inverters blowers will do. I have taken out 5’ piles of snow with my machine with ease.
With a 75hp you would be well off.
Knowing what my machine is capable of, I would use it in your stated conditions.

I'm sorry, I don't recall. However, my local tire shop was able to make them work on the same wheels I had with the R4 tires. I don't have that tractor anymore.
When you did the video blowing snow at the shop my very first thought was "Wonder how well the neighbors like that snow being blown into their backyards" When plowing or blowing snow I try to always consider my neighbors and those driving by. I sold the Case with snow blower setup I had a few years ago and it that was the last time I cleared snow from the road (State Highway) in front of the house since I had lots of warning lights and the deere I used for plowing did not. Tha may change if I get a pusher or blower fro the new deere. Great video!

I think a bi-directional or inverted tractor is the intimate set up. "Anything is possible, what do you want to do, how much do you want to spend?"

People say that pull behind blowers are not good because you compact snow in front of you. I just don't see it to me it looks good.
It likely depends on snow conditions. Warmer, more wet snow will probably pack down, but I don't know if the cutting edge would scrape it down enough or not. Our blower has fixed/welded skids, but then we are on all gravel as well.
People who say that have never actually owned a pull type snowblower, I have one of these and there's no issues with packing snow down, it clears everything nice and smooth.
Great video! Never even heard of a pull snowblower until this video. Do you think a 2038r could handle the 60" model? With upstate NY Lake Effect snow? Also how many rear remotes are needed for the hydraulic shoot rotation and deflection? Thank you.
The 2038 should be fine, as MK Martin recommends 25HP for a 60" and the 2038 has 37HP. The chute rotation is one hydraulic function, the deflector is a second. Using a multiplier, you could run off a single hydraulic remote, and still control each function, but only one at a time. Definitely consider the hydraulic backdrag, if your situation calls for that. That would require another remote.

I’ve operated a b2710 with a 68” mk Martin inverted blower and it handled it well.
I currently have a 2665mahindra with an 80” cyclone.
You could put at least the 68” on yours all day. But you have room for more. You could put the SB72 on yours.
On my 68” I installed stationary wings that gave me an over all cutting width of 80” and didn’t require any more HP. In light storms I could fly, in larger storms I just went a little slower.
