  • An electrical fault in any of the door lock actuators can cause the rear hatch to be stuck in the locked position. This is because the door locks share a circuit with the rear hatch lock. So to fix the rear hatch lock/unlock, it is necessary to replace the faulty door lock. In this video, it's the rear driver lock. The vehicle is a 2011 Hyundai Tucson iX35.

Any chance when I had my door latch replaced it caused my rear hatch to no longer open? The tech said it was a coincidence.

Probably not a coincidence. Look at my Part I video in this series and if you have the same symptoms in that video then the new latch is the cause.

Could you not just have replaced the cables themselves? Maybe stretched out not allowing to fully unlock the door?

Not in this case. The problem was electrical. The motor in the door lock actuator was dead. The lock could be operated manually, but not electrically in any way.

@@Merryfrankster_ alright thank you, I guess I know what I need to do then. When it happens on my front passenger door it acts like it wants to unlock but it only goes about 1/3 of the way open so it causes the back to not open as well.

@@madubtDFS you may be having a problem in the relay module under the dash. I have posted another video about this. It affects the power delivery to the door lock. It causes the door locks to go weird. These electrical problems in these Hyundai vehicles are tough to diagnose.
