A good and clear video with no skipping. I recently acquired a 2008 SE with this same engine and although it doesn't need a new water pump now, it might in the near future, and this full step-by-step, bolt by bolt video makes me believe that I can do it properly. Thank you sir.
Im working on my 2.7 dodge charger at the moment. I'm not a mechanic what so every nor do I work on cars but watching this vid and the first part. It feels good knowing I'm doing it the right way.I had to change my timing chain due to it ticking while it was at idle. But I put everything almost back together all I have to do is put all the covers and connections on the top and my belt and fan. BIG THANKS TO YOU FOR SHOWING EVERY STEP I APPRECIATE 💯👍
Glad to help man! These 2.7’s are known for sludge build up. That can also cause that ticking noise too, if you have any sludge, grab you a bottle of Seafoam and pour it in your oil. Just follow the instructions on the bottle. And thanks for watching both videos 😃
Alex, you make it look toooo easy! LOL. Great job. You should be proud, and thank the Lord everyday for all the knowledge you have aquired at such a young age. Thank you so much for these videos. I have a 3.6 Penistar engine, and your videos, I know, will help me in the future to attempt some large DIY maintainence jobs. Be safe, and God bless!
Alex, you are brave to put this video out there. I seen all the obstacles you ran across and I thought you did an amazing job finishing this job, AWESOME VIDEO! I haven't tried this repair on my Chrysler 300 2.7 Liter, but after watching your 2 videos, I feel more confident.
Just a tip, the plenum bolts will stay captive if you pull up on them and give them 1/2 a turn as to be not in your way in the down position when your installing the plenum. There is a torque pattern as to not warp the plenum and cause a leak. Excellent job!
I normally leave them in the captive position but for the video I took them out just in case someone had a hard time trying to do it that way. Thanks for the tips and watching.
Hey thanks so much for this very helpful video .I have a 2010 charger SXT 3.5 I was able to do this job I have no previous experience and it was nerve racking lol but I did but my question is what should I expect after performing this job? Plus I also replaced the alternator, thermostat, all fuel injectors ..She started up fine but running roughly and she still running hot but not to the red line after about 15mins of driving and I bled the system ..and on a side note after I put alternator in my heat shield slipped out of place and touched the back of the alternator positive side and arced but a hole in one of my brakeline so I cut the hole part off and replaced it with 3/16 compressor fitting and then bled the front brakeline and not getting enough pressure to the brake completely..Do have any recommendations for a solution
Awesome video! Nice job. My only suggestion is that you cover the exposed engine orifices with shop rags so you don't drop a bolt or anything else inside the engine.
hey was this car overheating ? I think I’m having the same problem but I just wanted to know was the car overheating ? they mechanics said it was the time chain the water pump and a pulley and maybe the radiator. Ran out of money so going to get some tools and try to do it myself. I watched your radiator and thermostat video im pretty confident in it. But I’m just want to know your thoughts it also like blew up if you get what I’m saying the connector connecting the cool ain’t pipe to the engine. And I hear once that happen your basically wasting your time. So I just wanna know you thought is it worth the try or should I just give up on the car as whole. Please respond if you can I’m stuck at a hard rock here
Hey there buddy and thanks for watching my videos. My suggestion is to do a Block test first to make sure the head gasket is not blown that is very important before replacing any parts and spending hours of labor. The car I was working on was overheating , If you follow my steps properly I would say the car is worth keeping if it does not have a blown head gasket
My crank won’t turn with timing cover on, not sure if chain is hitting or crank seal area is catching, I’m stuck. I’ve followed everything you’ve done with both jobs, thank u u have no idea.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor this situation was the points on the cover were rubbing the chain on the water pump. Had to grind them down but it’s moving now. I’m following your assembly video now because I don’t remember where all the bolts go. Again Thank you!

I wanted to thank you for your help Alex the car doctor I used your video to fix my water pump in my dodge charger and timing chain it runs perfect thank you 🙏 for explaining everything in specific detail s I have my car running smoothly thank you again👍🫡🥇
I followed your video on replacing the water pump and timing chain, I got it all back together and had it running for about 35min then the check engine light came on with code po016,
Hey there buddy that code indicates that the timing is off unfortunately maybe a tooth off. You need to take it back apart and reset the timing and double triple check the timing marks before you put everything back together Good luck. I no it’s Frustrating but keep your head up and try not to think about it to hard
I recommend replacing the tensioner just in case that was the reason it was out of time, if you absolutely must use it again remove it completely and squeeze together with your hand or big pliers and when it is fully depressed slowly release it it should stay in place you may have to play around with it.then gently place it back in the cylinder.
Hey Alex, with the video I was able to knock this job out and everything when great, it’s been a week or two now and the car has started leaking coolant again, I don’t believe it’s coming from the weep hole but I have already changed the thermostat and the housing. Any ideas??
Hey buddy I’m glad I was able to help with the water pump job. Clean up everything with brake parts cleaner and try to determine where the coolant is coming from and let me know. Also new parts do fail unfortunately hopefully that’s not the problem

The cap for the timing chain tensioner. I forgot to put a seal on ring so it's leaking. U thing I can take it off and put one on without removing the calvle covers or will the tensioner pop out?
