- Dutch Fokker D.21 back in the air after 82 years!
Hoogeveen Airport, 8 July 2023 - During the Historic Heroes event, organized by Egmond Vintage Wings, the Fokker D.XXI PH-XXI / 229 was shown flying to the public for the first time. Flown by English test pilot Dan Griffith. A great achievement by the people of "Egmond vintage wings" to realize their dream by building a flying Fokker D.XXI.
The original Fokker D.21 with number '229' was shot down over Nieuwkoop on 11 May 1940. Pilot sergeant Jacobus Roos barely managed to get to safety with his parachute. The wreck of the Fokker was salvaged in 1993 and can now be found in the "CRASH Air War and Resistance Museum '40-'45" in Rijsenhout near Aalsmeer.
It is a coincidence that I was born and raised in the village of Nieuwkoop, which makes it a familiar story to me.

Ik weet dat 'iedereen' een G-1 wil zien, maar de T-V bommenwerper is ook de moeite waard, ook dit model heeft zijn waarde getoond in de Meidagen. De drie toestellen zouden een mooie Meidagen Memorial vlucht kunnen vormen.

Oeffffff. Dat wordt een hoop meer werk. De D21 was een simpel vliegtuig, zelfs voor die tijd. De G.1 was cutting-edge.

That sturdy plane was the backbone of Finnish air force while Finland was defending it's independency against soviet union's assault during WW2 in a conflict called "winter war".

Looks like a Val…sounds like a P-40. Beautiful airplane!

If history had just been a little different the D-XXI could have gone up against the Val. This aircraft was developed and made for the Royal Dutch Indian Army in modern day Indonesia. So it would have fought the Japanese there. As it stands this model took a toll on the Luftwaffe in de early days of May 1940.
The KNIL cancelled their orders of Fokker D.21's..

Don't you just love the sound of a radial engine. BTW which engine are they using, Pratt & Whitney? Wright? Bristol?
From Wiki I got this information: 830 h.p. Bristol Mercury VII or VIII engine but I don't know if exactly the same engine is used in this build Fokker D.21. Thanks for watching the video 😊👍

Klopt het dat van de kopie in het legermuseum in Soesterberg, de lichtgrijsgele camouflagekleur veel te donkergeel is? Ik zie dit soms ook op andere kleurenafbeeldingen.

Veel gevochten in dit vliegtuig in Combat Flight Simulator waar wij de KLu vertegenwoordigden als KLu CFS1 vele bf109 kisten neergehaald ermee. lol.
Moet hem nog live gaan zien maar ziet er prachtig uit,
Ja dit toestel is een hele mooie aanwinst voor de Nederlandse luchtvaart geschiedenis.
Al die jaren dat je het toestel alleen kende van wat zwart wit foto’s en wazige filmpjes zonder geluid.
En dan nu dit. Haarscherp 4K, klassiek motor geluid. Je ziet alle hoeken, je ziet hoe die in de lucht hangt en hoe het beweegt. Dit voegt zoveel toe. Kippenvel!

A huge part of aviation history. The F DXXI was a major transition from triplanes and biplanes to modern aviation of the time. I hope this piece survives posterity.
I love these old rugged war horses. The simplicity and toughness! I like the fixed landing gear and the aiming scope particularly.

Het is dus een replica, ik vraag mij af of er ook originele onderdelen op zitten. Dus onderdelen die ook gebruikt zijn voor het maken van de andere fokker d21 toestellen
Ik weet niet of er originele onderdelen in het toestel zitten, wel heb ik begrepen dat het toestel is gebouwd vanaf originele Fokker bouwtekeningen.
Nooit gedacht dat ik hem net zo mooi en uniek vindt klinken als de spitfire. Met de spitfire op 1 en deze op 2.
Hopelijk zie ik hem ooit ergens op een vliegshow.
En de bf109 staat ook op me wishlist om te zien en horen vliegen.

@toral8 Ten Fokker D21 został całkowicie odtworzony na podstawie oryginalnych rysunków Fokkera. Wielkie i wielkie osiągnięcie tych ludzi. (Używam tłumacza Google, mam nadzieję, że jest jasne)
@@32tfs Wszystko jasne. Fajnie by było powołać takie konsorcjum złożone z europejskich firm lotniczych aby zbudować po kilka, kilkanaście najsłynniejszych samolotów bojowych z czasów WW2. Z Polski to mogłyby być PZL-P11, PZL-23 czy PZL-37. Myślę, że chętnych na świecie byłoby sporo, a i UE chętnie dołożyłaby pieniędzy w ramach krzewienia historii...😁
@toral8 Tak, myślę, że to byłby dobry pomysł i oczywiście zgodziliby się ze mną wszyscy miłośnicy historii lotnictwa. Jednocześnie myślę, że ponieważ wszystko kręci się wokół pieniędzy, wkrótce nie znajdzie się to w agendzie firm lotniczych i np. UE.
