Btw you can use the Gate/CV out on the MPC to control it instead of that little chicklet keyboard. Sounds good!

@@malobeats One thing, each out can be split for 2 outs each, CV goes to V/OCT and GATE to GATE. There's a ton of videos on here for using CV/Gate with modular, same principal applies to this. Also make sure you learn about Sample/Hold and how Wavefolders work to really push this thing. VCV Rack is really fun to play with and learn modular (and free).

That covers the gate/CV on a mother 32. Should be the same here.
As for modular/cv/VCV stuff Omri Cohen is the man. Be careful though, it's an extremely expensive and slippery slope. LFOs are fun as heck.

Welcome to the wonderful world of synthesizers, my dude. With a bit of time, you'll be creating loads of basses, leads, and sound effects to put a huge grin on your face. Also, you can create some pretty convincing brass and string sounds with a unit like the Mavis. The possibilities are without limit.

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 роки тому +1

I feel like a little kid right now with this thing lol, I know it’s gonna be a huge learning curve but it is damn fun patching things in and coming up with different sounds lol.

@@malobeats As long as you're having fun, continue to treat it like a sonic playground. The familiarity will come with time and tinkering. In many ways, it will begin to inform your groove creation, and likewise, your groove creation will further influence your sonic explorations on the synth side.

Hi Malo ! Thanks for this video. It's very surprising to see how sounds that little Moog before and after the plug-in !Night and day. And to see you can record an external sound after it was process by plug-in is so interesting ! I would be curious to see how you connect the Mavis with the CV/gate input of the MPC. I don't really know how it works. But I can explain you something, hope it will help. There's 12 notes, each note is separated by a half tone : C - C# - D - D# - E- F - F# - G - G# - A - A# - B (and C).
you notice there's no E# and no B#, because E#=F and B#=C. (And I don't know why, sorry)
A key contains 7 notes you can play without playing "wrong".
I hope i don't loosing you. I'm sorry if it's not well explained, English is not my native language.
    For the Key of C (Major, when nothing is mentioned, it is currently the major key, in opposition to the minor Key) : C - D - E - F - G - A - B (and C)
If you follow me, You know now that between C and C#, there is a half tone, and between C# and D, another half tone, so, between C and D, there is two half tones, so, it gives one tone.
    So i can write
    C (+1tone) D (+1tone) E (+1 halftone) F (+1 tone) G (+1tone) A (+1tone) B (+1halftone)C
So your major Key can be found in this way :
Fisrt Note of the Key (+1tone) 2ndNote (+1tone) 3rd note (+1 halftone) 4th note (+1 tone) 5th note (+1tone) 6th note (+1tone) 7th note (+1halftone) Fist note of the key, one octave up.
That is the magic formula to find th note of your key !
    For D (Major)
    D (+1tone) E (+1 tone, so one half tone give you F and another half tone gives you F#) F# (+1 halftone) G (+1 tone) A (+1tone) B (+1tone, , so one half tone gives you C and another half tone gives you C#) C# (+1halftone) D (octave up)
    So : D - E - F# - G - A - B - C# - D
These are the notes you can plays in D(Major) and never being "wrong".
And for minor key, that is another story.
There's a lot of tips and tricks and rules but with these basic, it try to keep it simple (not easy just by writing).
Il would have been easier for me to explain it orally and in French. :^)
I hope I was not too confusing, and that it will help you for another beatmaking when you got the key.
Take care of you and your family.
And sorry for this long (and maybe confusing) explanation.

Been into synths for awhile but new to MPC so I’m coming from the opposite perspective. I was excited to see you put this up. Perfect timing for me. I’ve got a Sub 25 on the way that I was literally dreaming of setting up as bass for my MPC songs. Now if I could figure out where the RC-505 could fit into all this I could finally unify all my creative outlets 😂! Thank you for all the great content!
