    It does work with Samsung Galaxy S24. Samsung Galaxy S24 has Bluetooth LE and Auracast, and it does work answering phone calls via tapping your ear twice to answer calls and end calls.

    With full spec including Auracast and hands free calling?

    I see forum posts talking about having to use desk phones at work. Will the Marie microphone allow someone place the phone receiver on their ear normally and hear the phone. If so it seems like a good use case.

      Most "open fit" hearing aids allow what you've described (using a desk phone normally). The M&RIE receiver may allow this for some users; however, the M&RIE is much more prone to feedback than a traditional reciever and may feed back when a phone is held to the ear.

    Thanks for update. How do your patients like the "hearing in noise" capability? Say compared to other hearing aids? I am in a trial with the Nexia 9. While it has a lot of features I really like, not sure about restaurant like settings. Even with several tweaks by my audiologist, seems to really bring in a lot of restaurant noises I don't want to hear, while not always hearing person in front of me (albeit they have soft voices). Played with the "noise filter" and "speech clarity" as well.

      Thanks for the question. Overall, our patients have done well with the "hearing in noise" capability. That being said, hearing in noisy places, like restaurants, continues to be the number one complaint of hearing aid users. Part of hearing impairment is the inability to separate one sound from another -- the sounds tend to blur together. Hearing aids can differentiate speech from other noises (like engines or fans) but struggle when the "noise" is other voices (like in restaurant). The ReSound Nexia uses directional microphones to form a narrow beam of amplification to try and amplify voices in front of the listener without amplifying every other voice in the room. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But it is one of the best options currently available.

      @@hearingandbalancedoctors3275 Docs! Thanks so much for the quick reply. This really helps as I am a first time hearing aid user and don't have any experience with other brands of hearing aids. Pretty sure I'm going to go with the Nexia since all the other aids struggle the same in this area. Really happy with every other aspect of the Nexia aids. God bless you guys!

      I appreciate the quick response. This really helps me since I'm a first time hearing aid user and don't have anything else to compare. I really like the Nexia in all other aspects. Since it's no worse/better than other hearing aids in noisy environments, I'm going to keep them. God bless you guys for what you do!

      M&Rie doesn't work. It produces strange buzzing sounds. My audiologist said that none of her patients liked it.

    • @hearingandbalancedoctors3275
      @hearingandbalancedoctors3275  Місяць тому

      @@miracoli16 it is true that the M&RIE does not work for everyone. I would estimate that it does not work for at least 50% of people due to anatomical limitations or the degree of hearing loss (leading to the feedback you described). However, the "hearing in noise" capabilities are much more than the M&RIE. It's the sound precessing and beam forming capabilities that make the Nexia really shine

    Hi there 😊.
    I have severe cookie bit hearing loss . Do you think the resound nexia could work for me ?? Thanks

    I've just been trialing a hearing aid, and it really irritated my ears. The whole ear felt like it was burning, even after changing for a smaller earpiece, I had to take it out after wearing for 3 hours. the ear piece looked like a flower on a post. Do you know if ear bud like the ones in your video are less irritating? Or is there another type? I generally were Apple buds for several hours, even overnight without too much trouble, but wouldn't be able to tolerate them for 12 hours, I don't think.

    • @hearingandbalancedoctors3275
      @hearingandbalancedoctors3275  6 днів тому

      I'm sorry it's been irritating! That's not very common, but it happens occasionally. And there are lots of different types of ear buds your audiologist could try with you. One example, that usually fits really well, would be a custom-made ear mold. I'd recommend returning to your audiologist and discussing options. Good luck!

    How do they work in noisy bars/restaurants? I've read that they perform better than anything on the market in noisy environments.

      They work well. And I agree, the Nexia is one of the very best hearing aids for noisy bars and restaurants. However, like most hearing aids, it is not perfect and really noisy places can still be difficult

      I'm nee to hearing aids and been wearing them since January and noisy places like restaurants/bars are not great with them. Depending on the place, I may just take them off completely since I'd be able to focus and hear the person I'm talking to instead of hearing everything but them. I'm also starting to have issues with them now where one or both just go really low on sound, and every sound goes faint. It's getting to the point where I hear better without them on. Might just be a dud, but I'm going back in to have them look at them. For 7k, I hoped to have much better hearing and working hearing aids but so far, it's been really frustrating for almost 6 months.

    Was looking forward to this review, but... don't care about streaming, don't care about the charger, don't care about the size, don't care about the button. I care about sound quality, which was not mentioned, despite you going through sound quality in your Phonak video. Missed a bit, eh? I've heard many reviews of ReSound hearing aids sound being "sharp". Could you elaborate please? Currently been wearing Unitron for 2 years, looking to upgrade.

    • @hearingandbalancedoctors3275
      @hearingandbalancedoctors3275  44 хвилини тому

      Thanks for watching. The sound quality of the Nexia is very good. ReSound hearing aids in general do have a very "sharp" sound, however. Some people love it (it sounds crisp and clear), while others think it's too harsh. This comes from the fact that ReSound does not shy away from high frequency gain like many manufacturers do. ReSound's proprietary fitting algorithm favors audibility over comfort and ReSound also does a better job amplifying at 8 kHz than most manufacturers. The sharp sound is also due to ReSound using very fast time constants. This results in a very clear, but almost harsh sound.
      The new Nexia hearing aid also performs better in background noise than almost all other hearing aids. Hearing in background noise is never perfect, but the Nexia uses beam-forming directional microphones that allow for a narrow beam of amplification resulting in a better signal to noise ratio, and ultimately better hearing. This is especially evident in the 7 and 9 level technology.
      Bottom line: the sound quality is excellent. Sometimes people prefer the sound processing algorithms of one company over another (some people just really like Oticon's slow time constants for example) but I would argue that the sound quality of the Nexia is among the top two or three in the whole industry.
      Cheers! Hope that helps!

    Can you explain the difference between Nexia and Jabra pro 20? Why would I pay $4,000 more for the Nexia over the Jabra?

    • @hearingandbalancedoctors3275
      @hearingandbalancedoctors3275  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the question! The Jabra Pro 20 is the Coscto model GN product. GN owns both ReSound and Jabra and historically GN has put one model in Costco. The Costco product is locked to audiologists and cannot be programmed or adjusted outside of a Costco. Because of this, the detailed technical specs are unknown to audiologists. Typically, however, the product itself is good. It is usually a de-featured version of ReSound's latest product.
      The biggest difference is where a patient would rather seek care. Typically, Costco hearing aids can be a good idea for someone who is price conscious and not looking for a lot of professional service. The quality of care and competence of providers can vary greatly across Costcos. Very seldom are doctors of audiology practicing at Costco. For those seeking "gold standard" care (a comprehensive audiologic evaluation, hearing aid fitting including Real Ear measures, aural rehabilitation, tinnitus management, and continuing follow up care) going to a doctor of audiology might make sense. The actual hearing aid is a notch above the Costco product, but most of the cost difference comes from the level of professional care.
      Bottom line: both are good options. The decision usually depends upon what level of professional care the patient wants or needs.

      It's the same aid. Don't listen to these guys, they don't know squat about Costco aids. They are not locked at all. I self program and had both the Resound One and the Jabra Pro. There were exactly the same. The only difference being the tinnitus option isn't a default. Just visit HearingTracker and in the forum section you can read how real audiologist's easily adjust Costco aids. There are so many of us that self program that there are whole forum threads just on that topic and no Costco aid has been locked for well over 5 years. These guys are outdated
