I'm glad you stiffened up the airframe. I have the Advanced. I have BBQ skewers stuck in it in various places to stiffen mine up. Tail used to wag and the cockpit used to wobble. Not now. I have also noticed some dimples showing up as well. Only improvement I would like to see, now, is speed brakes/flaps.
Jason's passion for these aircraft comes across really well, he talks from his heart unscripted at a very fast pace yet gets all the information accurately laid out, what a pleasure to be fully informed by the end 🤩BB
I’ve been in the sport about 4 1/2 years. Lots of planes, lots of crashes, lots of spare parts and glue ordered. Going back to the month 2, even the Apprentice S on Safe wasn’t fun. There was a learning curve and about the same with any plane. Lots of tweaks with trim, CG, how the plane reacts to the wind. With all that said, the Conscendo Evolution was FUN 2 seconds out of my hand. More of the same through 3 batteries and the last being a 4s. Never had a moment where I felt I needed Safe. I was in AS3X and one the maiden I did hand launch in Safe, but after one turn it was all AS3X. I did manage a low pass where I wasn’t trying to knife edge while nose slightly down, but just leveled the wings and the Evolution leveled out and climbed on its own. The Evolution is, in my 4 1/2 years the best overall built RC foam plane I’ve ever flown. It’s stress-free flying. It’s fast, it can soar, it’s the perfect plane to practice loops, rolls and flying inverted if you’re an Intermediate. Battery life per flight is off the charts. If I had any problem was landing. It just wants to stay airborne. All 3 flights I had to take the 50/60 yard walk of shame. Just kept gliding. LOL!
This plane COMPLETELY "BLEW ME AWAY" and changed my opinion of what a "powered glider" can do at the hands of a company that can think "out of the box" like Horizon does from time to time. Also, Jason is ONE of the BEST people in the RC industry to showcase a product and bring it to us in the RC community by the way he incorporates his passion, honesty, knowledge and flying skills in all the videos that he does. Speaking for myself AND other RC flying comrades I associate with, we REALLY enjoy these videos EXCEPT for one thing.....our bank accounts takes a negative hit so many times when we watch these new product videos. 🤣.... Thank you Horizon Hobby and Jason for these great and informative videos and GREAT job, AGAIN 🙏👍😉
The original conscendo was amazingly fun, even for advanced pilots. I crashed mine flying low and looking away for a second. I am really looking forward to this plane. The only thing I could think to add would be a few LEDs.
6 month owner and flyer of the Conscendo. Still looks brand new. Pretty much fly it every time I go out to the field as a “warm up”. Never disgraced it with a 3s. Last week, I had the field to myself when I got there and wondered- “Can I rip the wings off the Evolution???” (I have a backup in the box, I’m not crazy) I pretended to be 15 years old, and tried everything I could to rip the wings off.... total failure. Not a scratch. No stress fractures... nothing... I’ll try again when it stops raining here.
I have one on order. Easy choice. I think (and hope) that if I had only one RC plane, this one could be it. Able to do aggressive aerobatics, to soar and coast a little, to go pretty fast, (not insane fast), easy launching and landing, and SAFE as needed. I use SAFE when I have to swat away the mosquitos or get blinded or distracted, etc..., especially when the flight times are 15+ minutes. Maybe not the best individually, but looks really good overall. It seems to be a medium-performance warm-liner. Can't wait to get it.
Great plane! We love it! My 6 year old son flies it in safe on 3S and me with safe off. It can cruise and glide and can be fast or slow. We love this plane and everyone in our club who sees us fly it wants to buy one too!
That's great to hear and thank you for sharing! It's proven to be an EXTREMELY popular model and we can't build them fast enough...but more stock will finally be arriving by the end of the year!
My very first R/C airplane was a nitro powered Carl Goldberg Gentile Lady that I built myself with a .049 strapped atop the wing. I also soloed in that plane. I had to hand start the engine, I had to hand launch it, and at that time there wasn't the technology available now like SAFE and telemetry. In fact batteries were still mostly MNiH, and LiPos were just starting to appear for consumer use and park flyers didn't exist yet. So with all that said, why couldn't this plane be used as a first R/C airplane? Especially when Horizon Hobby sells a jet for a trainer (the Habu). I'm coming back to the hobby after a several year hiatus, and this plane is really looking like a good launching point.
How does one manage to look at the small details on the screen of a transmitter whilst the plane is in the air? last time I took my eyes off a plane, when I looked up & found that I was flying a seagull !!!!!!
I’m setting up my DS8G2 to fly this and I’m stuck. Can anyone help please? I don’t understand the how to set rates and expo, and I don’t know how to change from SAFE mode to as3x whilst in flight. Thanks.
Range is mostly dependent on the transmitter used, and when used with any of our recommended "full range" Spektrum transmitters, the range will be upwards of 1/2 to 1 mile (which is much farther than you can comfortably see or should ever fly this model in particular!).
Can the Spectrum DX4e Controller from the original red Conscendo be paired to the new Evolution? Will the Safe Button and Easy, Intermediate, and Expert toggle switch still work?
Yes, the DXS transmitter will work with the Conscendo Evolution! It will work just like it does with the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, which has the same E-flite 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC in it, so even the battery telemetry will work the same as Jason shows in this video: ua-cam.com/video/r0K6S1K4vYc/v-deo.html

For those thinkiing of any new Horizon Hobby BNF models. the AR637T TX installed in these models is locked. That means if you ever crash or tire of the model, you either throw away a 120€ TX or are forced to buy a BNF of the same model and reinstall. Given how often Horizon retire models this may be a problem in future or likely you get charged to unlock. At the moment Horizon refuse to help you unlock the AR637T so it can be used in other models. Model is OK, its not a great glider but its OK. Also not super stiff (especially tail boom) as most reviews are informing and you may want to consider better servos.. also check control cables to elevator and rudder..,. they can slip.
The AR637TA receiver was never intended to be "locked" long-term, and you can now update the firmware (FOR FREE) so it will function just like the "open stock" AR637T. This means you can adjust the settings via forward programming, or reset and reprogram it for use in other models, as seen in this video: ua-cam.com/video/F3isbv1U8eM/v-deo.html Also, there are plenty of positive reviews and many videos to confirm there are no issues with stiffness of the airframe, tail boom or servos...evidenced by the fact we cannot build and ship this very popular model fast enough (currently sold out in many countries for the next few months!)!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Though I think theAR637TA don’t have vario, while the stock AR637T have it. I know this model is not intended for pure thermaling but would be a nice feature for a glider.

dont think i have had a bigger smile on my face being involved in RC than flying a conscendo
Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 Jan 1980 to July 1983.

Great job Jason, would love to have this in my hanger beside my radian👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Just ordered one with a Blade fusion 360.
As always, very informative . Well presented Jas
Looks like this would fit in the Warmliner category. I have a few Hotliners. I have the the Conscendo S, and the Advanced, now I'll have to get this.
Glad to see it has better foam, im so disappointed in the foam density on the extra 300
How come the NX series transmitters are no address in a lot of the videos?
How does one manage to look at the small details on the screen of a transmitter whilst the plane is in the air? last time I took my eyes off a plane, when I looked up & found that I was flying a seagull !!!!!!
Looks great well done jason 💯💯💯👊
Just ordered one ☝️. 😉. My first E-flite product.
Hi, when will the new version of this model be released? And if you confirm when its arrival in Europe is expected?
Thanks for the reply.
This is awesome! Would you consider this as with warmliner-capable performance?
Awesome Jason have the advanced glad horizon has done a few upgrades which it needed great flying sport glider.👍
Love it! Upgrade all your planes to smart batteries please...
I’m setting up my DS8G2 to fly this and I’m stuck. Can anyone help please? I don’t understand the how to set rates and expo, and I don’t know how to change from SAFE mode to as3x whilst in flight. Thanks.
Jason Merkle I don’t have the DX transmitter I’m I allowed to use the Fly shy radio control
Is AS3X automatically active when the aircraft is turned on? I will be flying with a DX9.
AS3X only activates once the system sees 25% throttle. After that, it remains on until the battery is unplugged.
As a beginner pilot I'd like to ask what is the range of control on these new planes and transmitters? Thanks
Range is mostly dependent on the transmitter used, and when used with any of our recommended "full range" Spektrum transmitters, the range will be upwards of 1/2 to 1 mile (which is much farther than you can comfortably see or should ever fly this model in particular!).

Yep that's my next one
ill take that. i fat futaba only im getting my new futaba 32mz soon 32 channels. ill take the pnp
Can the data for the transmitter be downloaded? I cannot find it. Or can you only program it manually? Thanks.
Are there any budget controllers compatible with this model? I'm looking to get my foot in to the hobby without breaking the bank?
SmartER than most planes for sure! I'm assuming you didn't get a chance to fly it yet since you're just sitting in the park
Hello Victor! Jason flew it at the park just after we recorded this video...see the Flight Talk video here: ua-cam.com/video/8vlOrrvSY5s/v-deo.html

when this will be available in Europe?
The first shipments are on the way to our EU warehouse now and they should begin shipping out by the middle of August!
