(WARNING: WALL OF TEXT AHEAD) I commented on the last episode of Hello Neighbor stating my theory on what happened to the Neighbor's family and how the protagonist fits into it. Would it be rude of me if I copy pasted the comment here? Edit: here it is! So as we can all agree, the Neighbor had a family of a wife, a daughter, and a son. He and his wife were in a car crash where his wife suffered injuries bad enough that she was rushed to the hospital and died. I think that this tragedy was the event that tore apart an otherwise happy family. I'm not sure if this is a confirmed part of the game, but I think the cardboard cutout children that we see throughout the acts are representations of the Neighbor's children. In the roller-coaster dream sequence, I interpreted the hands extending from the front of the roller-coaster with the cardboard girl as the action of pushing. (though the idea of it representing "reaching" for the girl and never quite being able to get to her is also a very cool and valid interpretation!) If you look back after getting on the roller-coaster, you can see the cardboard cutout boy. It seems to me that he is the one running the roller-coaster. This would imply that the events that we see while on the ride are memories of the boy. Also, blink-and-you'll-miss-it, at the very last moment of the roller-coaster dream sequence, the cardboard girl falls down into a coffin which means she's dead. I think that she was pushed off of some high up place by the cardboard boy, her own brother. It's my theory that the son and daughter climbed to somewhere high-up, possibly a tree or even the roof of their house. (considering they live there and there was a hole in the roof of the house in Act 1, I wouldn't put it past two children, especially one of which who look like a very mischievous boy from the family photo easter egg, to find some way to get onto the roof.) From there, I think that they may have had an argument or something that caused the son to push the daughter, causing her to fall off. It may have also been an accident or that both children had become unstable after their mother's death. Next, I have an explanation to what the Neighbor did after finding out about what happened. I think that the Neighbor was caught between two choices. He could either report what happened to authorities and risk the chance that his son is taken away or cover everything up and keep his son. In both choices, his daughter is still dead, so he would rather choose the one where he at least gets to keep one kid. The Neighbor started by putting up missing posters for his children. This was an explanation to the outside world for the sudden absence of both his kids. The neighbor buried his daughter in his backyard and locked his son up in the basement in order to hide him from the rest of the world. This explains why the Neighbor looks so distressed in Act 1 after locking the basement door and why there is a marked gravestone out in the cemetery for the mother but not the daughter. All of it would have gone according to plan, except for the little boy who eavesdropped on him, the protagonist, us. We break into his basement, see the room where the son was kept, explore for a while, and promptly get caught after the Neighbor starts to chase us in through the long tunnel with the triple-locked door at the end. With no other choice, the Neighbor locked us too in the basement in order to succeed in his cover-up. We, the protagonist, would have stayed locked up in that basement forever, but someone unlocks the door to the room where we are kept. If you peek through the lock right when the unseen person opens the door, you see the cardboard cutout boy. The Neighbor's son decided to set us free. He may have done this out of sympathy or because he thought we could escape and tell the world what happened. After we escape the basement, we avoid the Neighbor while finding a way out of the house, which has now been barricaded with a very high wall. This makes sense since the Neighbor now has two children in his basement who he has to keep from escaping. As we are running away, the Neighbor tries to follow us but is stopped as the boy from the basement shrieks and distracts him. In this moment, the Neighbor prioritizes his son staying in the basement over us. In Act 3, we are living in an apartment in the city. This city is probably the one we see far in the distance from the street where we used to live. This may be a metaphor for us trying to run as far as we can away from our fear. We receive a letter of eviction and with nowhere else to go, we decide to move back to our old home, despite all of the traumas we had while we lived there as a child. As we sleep in Act 3, we revisit the Neighbor's house within our own mind. It's now a giant, distorted house with many new rooms. As we conquer each of the fear mini-games, we are conquering each of our smaller childhood fears. Each of these conquered fears represents one of the three locks that caused us to get captured back in Act 1. After we get over these three smaller fears, we have to conquer our biggest fear, the Neighbor himself by breaking into the basement once again. The Neighbor tries to catch us, but this time, we're able to lock him out of the tunnel and go through the door because this time, the locks are gone. After doing so, we get to the Act Finale. At the very beginning of the Act Finale, we're in a room like the ones in the basement with the cardboard cutout boy and his belongings, further proving that the Neighbor's son was also kept in the basement. After the giant Neighbor is defeated, we're taken to a corridor with lots of interesting things to see. First of all, there are missing posters piled up to the ceiling and raining down from the sky. Just from that, I think that this corridor is a representation of the Neighbor's greatest fear. Apart from the missing posters, you can also see the Neighbor was the one who put up the posters up in the first place, further establishing my theory that he put them up in order to cover up what happened with his children. You can also see a shadow looming over the grave in the backyard. There is also the door down to the basement, which you can see contains yet another shadow standing on the stairs. All of these are different ways of showing the same thing: the Neighbor's greatest fear is that all of the things he did to keep his son from being taken away from him are going to be revealed. After going through the door, we're met with a younger version of ourselves who we have to protect from a giant shadow that breaks through the walls of the house. By protecting our younger self, we are protecting ourselves from a physical manifestation of fear. Every time we do this, we grow taller and taller until we're big enough to jump out of the house and conquer fear once and for all. After this, the fear shadow dissolves and leaves behind a peacefully infinite place of white. On one side of us is the exit and on the other side is a house. I think this house is a general representation of the Neighbor's whole situation. He has boarded himself up in one room when the exit is on the other side of the door. He refuses to free himself because he is refusing to conquer his fear, who waits in the other room. You can also see how the fear shadow is the size of a child which reflects what his fear is. After walking out our exit, we have finally conquered our childhood trauma and found peace by moving back into our old house. So in short, this is what I think may have happened to the Neighbor's family: there was once a happy family of a father, a mother, a son, and a daughter. One terrible day, the parents went out in their car and were caught up in a crash. The father survived, but the mother was rushed to the hospital where she, unfortunately, passed away. This event caused the remaining three members of the happy family to fall apart. The son and daughter climbed up to some high-up place in the house, possibly the roof. Perhaps out of sudden anger or instability from his mother's death, the son pushed his sister and she fell off. She too died. The father found out about what happened and decided to bury his daughter in the backyard and lock his son up in the basement. He did this so that no one would find out what his son did and so that the police wouldn't take his remaining family member away from him. The father covered up the sudden absence of both his children by putting up false missing posters to make it seem as though his children went missing. After painfully locking his own son in the basement, the father saw that another boy from the neighborhood had heard and seen what he had just done. Panicking, he also locked up the eavesdropping boy, but he eventually escaped. The father lived every day with the fear that he would be found out about him covering up his daughter's death, that the escaped boy would spill the truth, that his son would be taken away from him just like the rest of his family. That fear manifested into the shadowy figure that we see throughout the game, stalking the Neighbor and refusing to let him out of the horrible situation he built around himself. Or at least, that's my interpretation of the game! (Also, I am SO SORRY this was so long. This is probably the longest comment I've ever written!)
Timelapsed Gameplay. All io Games Is it? I haven't looked at a lot of Hello Neighbor theories yet, so I wouldn't know about anyone who might have had the same thoughts as me. :0
These secrets are all awesome! I think it’s a bit of Hello Neighbour like to troll us but when they give us clues they don’t give them to us in an order they kinda just chuck them in the game. Surely the golden grammar phone is somewhere, maybe they’ll add it in a new update? I think those QR codes will be super important to piece together though, finding out what the green light it mentioned last episode should be useful? Meanwhile I’m lost... I hope you people in the comments have some theories about this DVD 😅
XxEnderCookiezxX oh and i think the DVD, if you were to Play it, would have a recording of the person who kidnaped the neighbors kids, kind of like a threat.
ThatRandomGuyOn64thStreet The thing is the DVD could be anything, it could have even been a song that expresses emotions or even a recording or the neighbour speaking or sounds that remind the neighbour of memories who knows? And haha yeah I love this community. There’s so many kind people like you and it’s nice to talk to people who can relate with the love of James’ and Think’s videos!
Brad Dawg The broken one? Hmm yeah I can’t really tell with editing how long James played around with it but it does look like it would have played the disc but if James said it didn’t I’m gonna trust him on this one plus he even googled it and found nothing and I know James is pretty thorough with his research

You missed something in all of that build before and now. In the place with the moving platform on the side. It is on that as it moves back and forth. Dan found it.
James, you can actually visit the graveyard and the police station without the trainer. The place with the wooden platform jump theres a wall that looks different from the others and you can walk through the ghost wall and you find the red error circle. If you walk into it you get teleported to the graveyard.
The wrench is in the ladder on the blue station. There's actually a way for getting outside of the map in act 3 by using a teleporter. The golden grammophone doesn't exist anymore, infact there's nothing under the map.

Act three is about how you are seeing yourself in the future. Go onto a document and get a picture of the guy you play as and the neighbor. The neighbor has a big mustache. Something in your past probably happened and the shadow is your fear of what will be soon to come. Once you prove yourself and get over your fear you kill your shadow. That police station is the old minecraft quartz stair
How is that even relevant???

James, I think the golden gramophone was the broken one at the lake
What if the dude in the wanted posters kidnapped the neighbor’s kids and that’s why they are missing..? 🤨
The record you found by the lake was for a channel called JT Music
Since it IS a lockpick, you could use it anywhere
James the wanted poster is one of the tinny builds creators I think 🤔 has

Thnxcya, if you touch the unreal engine missing script you can get out of the map
the mask is just an easter egg and i think the children are missing because the shadow man took them
The JT disk is from a youtubers
The kids did get kidnapped because before hello neighbor was released there was a poster of a boy and the girl missing and the picture that thnxcya showed us the picture of the neighbor with his wife and a boy and a girl
The jt skull record is a reference to jt machinima and they make songs about games and stuff and one was for hello neighbor
