My whole stay in Seattle wasn't a grim ordeal. I had fun there too. But the depressing weather and messy, nosey, asshole Seattle people just wore me down. Seattle does have good points. There are tons of jobs. But Seattle became dull and bland and too sanitized.

If I had to make a trip for a particular reason, I would plan other activities, exploring or visiting the interesting things Seattle had to offer. The "battle of Seattle" in 1999 was a turning point when things began to deteriorate. After the 2010's, even though the economy was good, the quality of city neighborhoods declined even more. It seemed to coincide with how liberal the municipal government got. The more "progressive" it became, the worse it managed the cities affairs. I was a democrat back then, but seeing the downturn and the ridiculous city policies that were supposed to fix it, all fail one after another, it was too much. I switched to a more conservative point of view. The violent demonstrations during covid, the de-fund the police movement and the civil wars within the city council just reinforced my repugnance of the city. Now, the "homeless" camps, rampant crime and choking traffic are everywhere. It used to take 25 minutes to get there. Now it takes over an hour, one way, on a really good day. I've been stuck in traffic there for 2 1/2 hours, one way. I still have to make an occasional trip to Seattle. I'll only take the bus and get it over with as soon as possible.
