I love the gothic murder mystery covers. I have a few like that of PD James. I collect Michael Moorcock’s vintage fantasy paperbacks and I really love all the covers. I end up getting the same books with different covers and some of his have two titles.
This was a great video. I remember reading paperbacks with sprayed edges back in the day. My favorite books were gothic romances (those are not in print anymore). The covers were always dark and had a woman with a dark castle in the background or it showed her running from someone or something. They were books with mysteries and of course romance. I do miss that genre, such memories.
I love the old Harlequin Romance paperbacks. I have tons of them. Plus hundreds of the old gothic romances from the 60's and 70's where on the cover a women is running away from a house, or castle, that has only one room with the lights on inside. Never will I part with them. It is so great that you cherish these books as well. I love hearing the enthusiasm in your voice about the fun of your books. I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching all your videos. Thanks for posting.
Thanks so much! Aren’t these vintage covers wonderful? I can’t remember if I had any Mary Stewart in this video but hers are just what I picture when you say “woman running away from a house”. So great.
Yes, you are so right! And I also own a bunch of hardbacks by Mary Stewart but the dust jackets were not as beautiful as the paperbacks. I prefer reading the hardbacks over the paperbacks but when I just look at the covers I prefer looking at the paperbacks over the hardbacks. I am so glad I found your channel.
I love trashy covers for classic books, usually from the 1950's by Dell. I also love psychedelic covers for classics from the 1960's. They make me giggle 🤭
Some beautiful books! Love the Agatha Christies - wow, 50! That's some collection. I hadn't thought much about vintage books, but we do have some on one of our bookcases - books from our own families. Thanks for the vintage tour through your shelves!
I so enjoyeeeed this!!! I loved all of them, they are all in such great condition. My favourites are the harlequins, georgette heyer, austen and the bronte❤. I have read the Shell seekers and loved it and I just got Coming home,am very excited. Been a really good year for great reads thanks to you Gina!!
Cool paperbacks. I was watching a video the other day about some friends who were opening a used bookshop and showed some Rosamund Pilcher books. She hadn’t read them but loved the covers. I immediately thought of you. 😊
I love the Georgette Heyer Signature collection paperbacks from Sourcebooks because they are so pretty! The D.E. Stevenson’s by them also. I’ve found most of them used. The new Agatha Christie ones published by Morrow are nice looking as well. And love the covers on all those republished by Dean Street press. Other than those, I enjoy the vintage copies of a lot of the authors that I read. I have some lovely old hardcover ones from Stevenson, Stewart and Goudge. And some nice old paperbacks from Ngaio Marsh and Barbara Pym. I’ve really gotten to enjoy the hunt for them. Although I think I’m about at the end of ones I’m buying. It’s funny, I’ve always just gotten books from the library mostly because I would only read them once. However the authors that I’m reading now, I could happily read over and over again. Love the world they create with kind or colorful characters and the beautiful writing and descriptions of places.
I am really torn about the Sourcebooks edition. On the one hand I do love them, I agree they are really pretty, but on the other hand I really love the vintage ones. I guess I'll just have to keep buying both!
Yay for vintage paperbacks! I love my vintage paperbacks so much and they make me so happy seeing them on my shelf. I know. nerdy, but oh well. Yep, love them more than the new stuff.Jane Frasier is Rosamunde Pilcher??? I had no idea!! Thank you so much for sharing them.
Great video Gina, Will look up Powder & Patch and Nunsuch. Am really enjoying Sense and Sensibility. I've also read Northanger Abby and Persuasion. So far S&S is my favorite though.
I love the old pan paperbacks, I always grab the Georgette Heyer ones when I see them. I need that Northanger Abbey. I love old 70s/80s sci-fi and fantasy covers especially, much better than modern ones.
Any chance you would rank your Top 10 Rosamunde Pilcher? I've read 8-10 of her novels. I'm starting a collection since I find her to be a wonderful writer of "comfort" fiction.
That's a great idea! My tops are definitely her 'big' books - September, Winter Solstice, The Shell Seekers, and Coming Home (in that order). It's been a while since I've reread some of her smaller books. I was going to do that when she passed away but never did. I need to make that a project!
Love the Star Trek books!
Thanks! Aren’t they fun 🤩
What a great collection to have. What I really love is how much joy it brings you! You can see it 🥰🤗♥️
Thanks Deea!
Yes! Vintage paperbacks are the best!
I love them. I wish I had a basement full (or could find an old lady who wanted to get rid of a basement full!)
I LOVED seeing these covers! The ads in the center…OMG! I love it. Thanks for coming to us with these. 😊😊
Thanks Renee! I love it when I get surprised with an old ad, or an old bookmark in an old book.

Yes exactly, the woman in front of the castle!! I love those.
Love the Mary Stewart ones. I believe some of hers fell into that category.

I know, I was a little surprised when I counted up my Christies!
I have that same Jane Eyre book! Found it at a book sale years ago.

I hope that you could tell that you were the inspiration for this video :)
@@GinaStanyerBooks yes Gina, I did, thank you so much, it really made my day, I was so happy 👍❤️😊

Bookshop Buddies! I've watched that video too! (As apparently has the rest of the world LOL)

As a Christie lover, I’m so jealous of your copies wow ❤😊
Hiyee! I just realized you have a channel too! 🤩
@@GinaStanyerBooks hehe yes, I’m new to yours - can’t wait to see what else we have in common besides Agatha Christie and Elantris ☺️
I love old Pan books, I've got a few of Georgette Heyer's ones now.
I am always on the hunt for them but they are getting really hard to find!
Super fun video! Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing collection!
Awww, thank you!

Hi Mitzi, yes Rosamunde Pilcher wrote a bunch of her very early books under the pen name. They are very very hard to find now!
Great video Gina, Will look up Powder & Patch and Nunsuch. Am really enjoying Sense and Sensibility. I've also read Northanger Abby and Persuasion. So far S&S is my favorite though.
Thanks Amy. I think that my favorite Jane Austen's are a toss up between Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion.
I love the old pan paperbacks, I always grab the Georgette Heyer ones when I see them. I need that Northanger Abbey. I love old 70s/80s sci-fi and fantasy covers especially, much better than modern ones.
Me too! They are getting hard to find, but they do still pop up.
You own 50 Agatha Christie books?!?! There is a reason we don’t have ads inside books anymore! But such a great video! 💛
