THANK YOU for taking the mystery out of this process! I loved seeing what you were doing with these images but I had no idea that they were decals or that even I could do this! Thank you for sharing the treasure that is your talent!
Hi Kelley! Thank you so much! I cannot find your tutorial where you demonstrate with an iron. I really need to view it because I ruined my only attempt so far on vinyl.
Thank you so much. I love all your videos and have watched them over and over. You are such an inspiration. I have got to try this technique. I don't have a Cricut machine and wonder if you can recommend a model? Also I love the bag feet on the Vogue bag and wonder where you got them. The bag is just stunning. Thanks.
I'm so glad you enjoy the vids -- I enjoy making them and sharing what I know and learn! I have the Cricut Maker and it works perfect for my basic needs. There is a new one out now (Cricut Maker 3) and it looks good, but would be overkill for my needs. I believe you are a member of CBM, so in the Files you'll find "HTV Stickers" pdf tutorial by me, which has links to shoes. From there, search vogue!
Hi Kelley, I tried applying the HTV to glitter vinyl and can't get it to stick. Any tips on how to apply? It's very shiny and slippery, so might not work. Thanks again. You're the best.
My first attempt was also not very successful; it stuck, but the edges came free when I turned the bag. I tried again, this time letting it set just a few seconds longer on the heat press and repeating about 3 times. Then let it cool before peeling. This time it worked good and did not peel.
@@sewkelley Thanks. I'll give it a try. The old adage.....if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Thank you for all your videos. After over 50 years of sewing couture clothing, I thought I knew everything there was to know about sewing....wow...was I wrong. I've learned so much from you and all the other wonderful purse makers who share their knowledge, mistakes and lives with all of us.
Hey Kelley, I have a question. When I applied my HTV sticker to my vinyl, it left like a shadow of where the transfer tape was. Do you think that's because perhaps my heat temp was too hot or left on too long? I'm using a heat press and set it to the 280 setting for 5 seconds.
I try to trim off as much as possible the excess tape around the images to avoid this. I have found, sometimes, a little more heat (once tape is removed) will help it settle down. Depends on color of your vinyl, too. Definitely trim more in the future.
Question: I don't have a fancy heat press machine. Can this be done with a regular iron? And if so, will this technique work with a regular iron? thank you
Thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Your bags are so unique and intriguing. I love every one of them. Can you share where you got the polka dot zipper tape from? I love it with your tassel. Your white bag is stunning.
Thanks so much for this video!! I can't wait to give this a try!! I do have a question on applying the bigger decal on your bag! I see it's applied over a seam, was there anything special you had to do to get get it to adhere in that thicker area? And how is it holding up specifically on the seam area?
Thank you! I rolled that seam pretty flat before adding decal. It formed perfectly and is holding up well. It’s the bag I am carrying now so time will tell. I dont think sewing over it would be a good idea nor look as nice.
You know, I don't know! I don't have any to test on for you. Try a sample and be sure you are using a teflon mat beneath and on top. Start with a cooler setting, too, vs silk. Lately a cool peel has been working best for me.
I appreciate that we are about the same age and you are not afraid to try new things!
Thank you. I am so glad to have found your channel. Please keep on producing these great vids.
mystery solved, what a great video and how well explained each step is. Thank you
Thank you so much, Kelley, for being so kind to share this with us.

I'm so trying this! Thank you so much for this great tutorial!
Another great video. Thanks Kelley.
can you apply with a steam iron? where did you get theVogue sticker? great video thanks
You don't want to use steam when applying HTV. Sticker is from AliExpress (watch out for copyright infringement).
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Do yo set your press with or without steam?
No steam with htv. Happy to share what I learn.
Can you use dry heat?
Excellent tutorial Kelley, thank you
Thank you. x
Thank you Kelley... Great job!! 😊

For smaller HTV, yes, a HH iron will work fine.
@@sewkelley thanks for the response. But holy cow, I asked this 4 months ago :)
Yeah, I stink at this stuff! At least I'm honest :-)

How do you “seal” the sticker? This video is Awesome! Thank you so much
No sealing required. And I've yet to have a "sticker" peel off. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Do you have to / or always apply the HTV before sewing the bag?
I think it's easier to work with one piece than the layers resulting when sewing a finished bag.
Thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Your bags are so unique and intriguing. I love every one of them. Can you share where you got the polka dot zipper tape from? I love it with your tassel. Your white bag is stunning.
Thank you! Tape from Dream Big Creations.
@@sewkelley Thank you. I have one more question. When you topstitched your center seam on the white EDT did you do it first and then put the decal on?
Absolutely!
Great video, Kelley! I never thought to use a template. Do you ever use heat tape to. Secure the decal to. The first yl for pressing?
I am learning! Ordered today 💜
Thank you 💖
Thanks, Kelley!

I have a jelly vinyl can I add HTV to it?
You know, I don't know! I don't have any to test on for you. Try a sample and be sure you are using a teflon mat beneath and on top. Start with a cooler setting, too, vs silk. Lately a cool peel has been working best for me.
I have interfaced, pressed htv on vinyl, faux leather, cork and waterproof canvas, none of them have melted.
How about to leather?
Try on a sample first. My effort resulted in the heat affecting the leather texture. Not good.
Cool! How do they wear?
Too soon to tell but the last bag I showed has been thru quite a few turns and it showed no signs of distress.
Any directions if you don't have a heat press? It's just me and my Oliso Iron! Thanks
No problem. See my Karma tutorial. I demonstrate using household iron. Remember, no steam.
Thank you sooooo much!,❤️❤️
Are you using steam, doesn't look like it?
No steam!
Thank you....
