I've been crocheting since I was 12 and people give me yarn all the time. Especially after their grandmother's and great Aunt's pass away. They would just give me their yarn, crochet hooks, and knitting needles. I've even found projects that their relatives started but never finished. So I finished it for them and gave it back to the family. I love watching you make art and your hobby videos. And I love that you got the art supplies second hand.
I also found a vase like that and what I have done is drying flowers I have and fill it over the years, it's like a nature's timeline, I even recognise specific flowers from parties or funerals that I collected and it is a good memory
Yay for making hobbies as sustainable as possible even if it's not perfect! I gave up nail art for a while because "it's all polymers" and "there's no way to make that sustainable" and lots of sustainably influencers give up nail polish because it's not important to them. But I realized IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME!! So I use what I have and buy from small businesses when I need something. I even found a local nail art shop owned by a WOC and she has her own line of gel polish. Is it a perfect sustainable hobby? No. But I'm so much happier doing it and even better when I can support local in the process!
I run a thrift store that benefits the local community and OMG !!! the amount of craft stuff we get in and sell is CRAZY !!! You can find so much stuff second hand.
A little tip! U can actually cut the lino with the shape of the design, so u save bunch of lino for next smaller projects, and u have less of background to cut! I always do this to make little stamps with leftover lino ;)
I do watercolors and there are plastic free watercolor sources. Beam paints sells watercolor in wood or waxed paper. I have a woodstove and I burn pencil shavings from colored pencils, used paper and the packaging from beam paints both from what the ship it in and keep watercolor in.
I love this too! Most of what I use is scraps of paper that may be thrown away anyways (especially if mixed material). Aside from the journal itself, tape, glue sticks, occasional photos, and pens, most things are reused which is great
I tried making art with old fabrics and clothes recently, never thought I would be that patient to finish this art, this could be my new creative hobby
I have a big glass vase, leftover from flowers when I got hurt, and I fill it with the threads I cut when sewing, I use all those snipped threads to stuff little fabric heart ornaments and home made stuffed animals.
Watched this while turning paper from the recycling bin into little stars! Thank you for talking about this, especially the lino as that's one of the many arts/crafts I'm interested in. I'm constantly making art and crafts, and environmentalism is essential in that practice for me. I don't find it limiting in my creativity at all, honestly I think it expands it.
Thanks for the video. I love finding ways to use "trash" in creative projects. Repurposing anything gives me joy. I put my leftover food in glass containers that I have repurposed or thrifted. I would just put a pan lid that fits well enough and use your glass jar find for that.
Lino cutting is so much fun! For burnishing, while stamping on it looks like it worked, you can also rub a wooden spoon on the back of the paper (or a burnishing tool if you have one/make one). If you want to get even more hours of fun out of one block of lino you could try a reduction print as well: where you cut out a design and print it in one colour but then cut more away and print again in another colour on top.
I use a large glass container like this to keep my Monstera deliciosa happy: I have filled it with water, put it next to the plant and put the air roots into it. This way, there is always some water evaporating into the large plant, creating a better microclimate for the plant. And the plant needs to be watered less frequently, which is a bonus when you are traveling or busy a lot. You can also plant some water mint into a large glass pot like this. This type of mint does not mind being submerged occasionally and thus needs less frequent watering than "regular" mint if you do not fill the pot with soil, but leave room for some stones and water so that there is a large reservoir of water in the container on top of the soil.
Such a great video! My main hobby atm is sewing and as a recovering hoarder, I always have to resist the urge to trash even my smallest scraps, especially when I know they could end up in landfill. Also trying to prioritize second hand textiles and supplies -- I recently got a Danish butter cookies box full of bobbins, don't think I'll have to buy thread for the next ten years at least.
I love this! I have been living a vegan lifestyle for 20 years, mostly for environmental reasons but also ethical, and been doing fiber art (lika sewing and knitting) for equally long time. Its hard since cotton and linen isnt warming and i dont want to use plastic yarn. This has led to me using wool yarns, since i feel its the lesser of two evils. I just make sure to buy it second hand or the most ethically produced yarns i can find.
About the glass , i would put some succulents in a soil woth some stones , btw I absolutely adore your channel ❤️ and would like to thank you for what subjects you're talking about. Love from uk 🇬🇧
Hi Gitte! Great video as always. I have a tip for your linocut printing, it's best if you pass your roller on a clean surface a couple of times in the same direction for the ink to cover the roller in a uniform layer, then if you roll the ink roller only front and back over your piece, you actually remove ink the second time you pass over the same spot, because it sort of gets back to the roller, so the way to get a better cover with the ink is to do it in only one direction and move on, taking more ink and then give it another layer... with this technique you use less ink but in many layers getting a much darker and uniform print. I love printing too and always worry about wast, so I try to maximize the materials I already own.
chain lights in that thing would make it a very decorative lamp! I love the onion btw. I would paint the driftwood with white lines or tirqouise lines and draw owls with it
Synes din positive indstilling til at tage bæredygtige valg (og generelt tænke bæredygtighed) er virkelig inspirerende og får lyst til selv at blive bedre, så har lige abonneret! :D
If it would work and you have them, the lino designs would also look good on broken martial arts boards! I've done photo transfers, made trays, and made a lost sock sign with mine (among other random practical things)!
when it comes to the glass vase - you can collect various types of moss and plant it in this vase, it will look beautiful, and it does not require buying "artificially" grown plants 🥰
Omg. I'm so happy to see this! 😁 Art and being creative is one of my outlets and a form of therapy for me. I love to do collage and mixed media art forms, as well as what I refer to as upcycle art (but mostly use free or found objects, so basically racoon art 🦝😂). I just love to make things out of things that would otherwise be waste or considered trash by some people. Love love love that you've made a video about your art! Thank you 💚 Ps. Have you ever tried using a carved potato for a print? Or other "mark making" techniques? Might be a more fun to look into if you haven't before. Although, not exactly zero waste. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and anyone else who reads this 😊 Edit: Flanzella has a fun DIY decoupage glass lamp upcycle idea that you might think is cool?
Really beautiful patina on that driftwood 😮 and I honestly think it looks great in the window shelf area. It's given the space instant character and texture. Totally juat an onion 😂
junque journalling is a terrific low-waste hobbie. we use old envelopes, repurpose packaging, use up do-dads--like buttons, old jewelry, and of course paper scraps check out Treasure Books on YT. natasa i the Queen of upcycling!
I could see those lino cuts or scraps being suspended in a resin to make fabric weights... I would so buy that kind of fabric weights made with recycled scraps.
I have a question/video suggestion - I’ve found a small portable solar panel secondhand I’m thinking of buying to try and charge my devices with instead. Would that actually be sustainable though as I imagine it may take more energy to make the device than my phone does to charge. Would love to hear your thoughts :)
I love driftwood too, but I would have treated first the piece you found. if those woodworms are still alive, you will have a big problem in the house..
I have never heard that my flat is grey 😂 check my apartment tour video for reference, but I haven’t painted the walls, because I rent and I don’t want to pay to have them repainted once a move out 😅
@@Gittemary Maybe its color filter i dont know, colors look washed out, but now looked at my apartament and its also not so colorfull but gives good vibes, its probably different when you are there and looking thrue camera 😂

Those are great ideas as well, I’ll remember 🥰👏
That sounds so lovely!
What a fantastic idea !
I love this idea!! Do you keep the stems too and have them held like a bouquet? Or do you just have the flower bulbs stacked all around each other?
@@shaunasartoris3769 sorry for the late response, just the head of the flowers or lost petals
You are the ultimate in what I consider a “cool” person. ❤ all you do and say!!
Aw but this absolutely made my day; thank you 🥹❤️
