  • Voted one of the best theme parks in the world, Dollywood is a blend of world class thrill rides, amazing food, family fun, and of course...a little bit of southern hospitality. The park is nestled in the Smoky Mountains (just shy of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park), and has seen rapid growth the past decade, quickly becoming a must-visit world class destination.

its not quite on a disney or universal level bc they just dont have the visitation or funds to make animatronics or simulate environments on that level but dollywood is about as close as it gets. id say its at about a seaworld level of theming or maybe just a touch better which for a park in a city with a population of 6,000 thats insane to think about

Unfortunately the food isn't great for people with allergies/intolerance/restrictions, I believe Disney are still the kings in that department. I know theme parks generally aren't known for being places you go for the food, but still.

The best way to describe Dollywood is a combination of charming and endearing. I can't imagine anyone going there and not loving the place - it's still a theme park, but, at the same time, it still possesses a sort of small town charm even with all the coasters and other stuff, and it also has a certain "homely" feeling that I don't think any other park has come even close to replicating. I've only been there once, and that was before I became a coaster enthusiast, but even then I wanted to return. It's such a good park.

It's so weird to say that I've grown up with it...when I first went, the only rollercoasters were Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado, plus Blazing Fury and the VeggieTales coaster if you want to count those without much in the way of expansion
Then they added Mystery Mine and every few years or so it's just major expansion/addition one after the other. The only really questionable one I feel is the removal of Dreamland Forest for Barnstormer. I always felt like that beehive house drew more people than the Barnstormer, even when it was first introduced...

I love this park and really love the area! Don’t go here to just visit Dollywood but make time to spend in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and Cherokee NC! All of these are just next to each other starting with Pigeon Forge which a a great hub of shopping, food and entertainment!
Up next is the beautiful Gatlinburg, a smaller town than Pigeon Forge but completely walkable! Here you’ll find LOTS of unique things to do and see! There’s also a great arts and crafts village here.
Up next is the Great Smoke Mountains National Park which is simply magical and HUGE! It’s also completely free to visit. Drive through here and you’ll enter North Carolina and just on the other side of the park is Cherokee NC.
Cherokee like it’s name is home to the Western Band of Cherokee Indians which is a federally recognized tribe (which I am btw and a member also), here you can visit things like the museum that teachers the history of the Cherokee, meet and speak with Cherokee people, visit the living museum which has many artists, craftsmen, and see how we as a people once lived. You can also purchase authentic handmade works of art that are made right here in Cherokee that will directly benefit the tribe and community. And if gambling is your thing theirs a very nice and BIG casino here for you to enjoy.
I’d highly recommend for ANYONE to visit this area. To me it’s the most beautiful place on earth and with so much to do you could very easily spend weeks here and still had not seen everything!

something worth mentioning is that Dollywood is actually looking at bringing back mountain slidewinder. The only reason its closed is the long walk to it doesn't meet accessability requirements. The ride is still completely intact and they have everything they need to reopen the ride its just a matter of solving the massive walk to the station.

I just took my family for our first visit to Dollywood and the surrounding region, partially inspired by this video. I loved all of the coasters, except Lightning Rod which was down the whole week we were there. The water coaster was also down, which means both headliners weren't open during our visit. That being said, we had a blast and love both days we spent in the parks. My son, a timid enthusiast with very specific sensory needs, discovered he loves Dragonflyer and wants to ride other coasters of that type. The cinnamon bread was also as amazing as you said. My addition to the park would be a sky chair ride from the front to the back of the park, perhaps weaving through Flying Eagle. Thanks for the awesome videos, and I hope you review Iowa's new park at some point.

One last thing. CINNAMON BREAD!!! AMAZING! Quick tip, the bakery on Showstreet also sells it and has a much shorter line.

My home park (I live in Western NC at the TN border)! It's been insane seeing it grow since my first visit in 2005. The customer service and overall laid back feel of the park is what keeps me renewing my season pass every year.

Do they still have those huge skillets grilling corn still in the husk? I don't know why but that's one of the few vivid memories I have of Pigeon Forge.

I really need to visit this park. It looks superbly well done with a great coaster lineup. I live in Virginia about an hour from Busch Gardens, and this, along with Carowinds, Hershey, and Busch Gardens Tampa, are the four major parks that I hope to visit this year.
And don’t forget about the giant new next coaster coming in 2022 or 2023 (I want a Mack Xtreme Spinner)

I had visited this park back in July of 2019 and I thought it was great! I did not ride most of the roller coasters beside wild eagle because that's what got us to go there, because I was not too into roller coasters yet. I did have an unfortunate experience getting food with my one visit for when we came back from the water park and wanted to get something to eat in the park and we went to the red's diner in jukebox junction and on that day it was super hot and super crowded, and we had to wait for a while in that tiny building to get food and it was super crowded. That was my only bad experience here and I definitely have an excuse to go back in the future to ride the rest of the coasters. Great Review!

Great video! Live like 15 minutes from the park. They do have some great rides and themed areas. The Park actually opened as Rebel Railroad in 1961 and lasted until 1970 when it became Goldrush Junction until 1977. After that it became silver dollar city.

Definitely one of the tops parks I want to get to one of these days...after all this BS is over with...
in California , we were going to go to Lagoon Park this last June for the first time...but we couldn't do that...
Maybe next year will just take a big road trip and hit Lagoon , Holiday World , Dollywood , Silver Dollar City and then the Florida Parks...then hit all the rest on the way back...Places like Indiana Beach that I donated to and go check out my brick I bought lol

Jukebox Junction is themed to the 1950s, I've always thought they could do an area next to it themed to Hollywood and call it Dollywood Studios. It would be a great place for a dark ride themed to Dolly's acting career. Who wouldn't want a Dolly audio-animatronic?

The best part of this video is the narration telling you about the parks layout. Be prepared for walking uphill for a good bit of your time there. There are spaces to rest and of course plenty of refreshment vendors, but if you are elderly, perhaps less mobile than a few years ago, take extra time to move around the park.

Can't wait to get out here for opening day! Also hot take, I always take the path by craftsman's valley to hit Barnstormer, Daredevil Falls, and Blazing Fury first in the summer! Keeps you nice and cool in the loop without water rides plus there is never a wait in the morning for those. Also you all need the kettle corn at SDC or Dollywood in your life! Been lucky enough to be a passholder since I was four and even after a couple of moves I always make it back to Dollywood.

I got to revisit in 2020 for the first time since 2014, and I only had 3.5 hours but it was one of the most fun days I've ever had at a park! I got plenty of rides in (besides lightning rod, rip) but I also upgraded my day ticket to a season pass because I knew I'd want to go back.

Probably will never happen but hear me out:
Dollywood’s next expansion/themed land should have a steam punk feel. Put a version of Time Traveler there and then recreate something like Rookburgh (from Phantasialand) and a version of F.L.Y.

So I usually go to Dollywood every year, but haven't went in 2 years. I was like I will just watch this for memories, but now I am bummed because I didn't realize they took out Mountain Slidewinder. I loved that ride! I was hoping to take my 2 oldest daughters on that when the pandemic calms down... Oh well. We still love Dollywood!

As a kid in the 90s, my dad's family would get together at Dollywood every Mother's Day weekend. Back then the only roller coaster was The Thunder Express until 1998 when it was removed and replaced by The Tennessee Tornado. I haven't been there in several years, but would like to go back at some point when I have a chance.

Dollywood is my # 1 park that I have ever visited, and nothing else even comes close. The coaster collection may not be as good as places like Cedar Point or Magic Mountain, but it's everything else that they do that puts it over the top. I especially love it when parks put on great shows, and Dollywood is among the best.
