    Miss this life.. I used to run against Matt. I remember I ran into him in a wheat field after he won state in IL and he actually knew who I was and stopped to talk to me in the middle of our runs out in the forest preserve. It was like meeting Forrest freakin Gump. Dude was an absolute legend.

    It definitely does! Cross Country is a Mental and physical sport. Takes great deal of determination to succeed in cross country! I ran it for 2 years and it changed my life in many ways! GO XC!

    @bathtownship He went to Wisconsin and was a four time all american in cross country. His Freshman year was his best with a 9th place finish at the NCAA D1 National Championship. He didn't get any better because of his struggles with some injuries.

    If it weren't for Galen Rupp, we would still think running's not for white Western guys

    • @19azul89
      @19azul89 8 років тому +1

      he is not " western " really, he is East- Nordic , probably some finland mixed with polish ...

    • @axlrosea675
      @axlrosea675 8 років тому

      +NKLOP well, he's murican and his last name looks awefully german (i am german myself). i guess i should have written 'just for east africans'.

    • @19azul89
      @19azul89 8 років тому

      +axlrosea675 but remember there are two kinds of " westerns" : Nordics and mediterraneans, and these two types of western men are very different on their physical looks... so I think that is more accurate to call him Nordic than " western" ( ethnically speaking )

    • @axlrosea675
      @axlrosea675 8 років тому

      *****
      i really don't care, fine with me. i was thinking more of the runner stereotype in one's head. as a kid, almost nobody i knew seriously practiced running. we all were in soccer, tennis, etc. and i'm a white european.

    Actually not only is it a physical and mental sport but also its one of the most challenging sport out there. Most people don't realize it but cross country is the strongest sport out there. All people focus on in high school is football or something else, cross country is a beautiful sport that hardly gets notice, don't you think? (if you really think about it, our brain is the most powerful muscle in our body)

      Some of the courses in England are hell there's just mud , steep uphill sections with loads of uneven ground and rabbit holes so you can't really focus on your race because you nearly break your ankle the whole time
