In this video you can see an example of a radon mitigation system that was installed properly but incomplete. The discharge hose for the sump pump should be connected all the way to the exterior of the home to discharge any footing tile water. It is recommended and preferred to use solid pipe such as PVC rather than flexible hose.
This radon mitigation system shows the easiest method of installation due to the convenience of sump pit with footing tile and it’s the most inexpensive, $700-1200. Older homes without footing tiles require other methods of drilling holes through the basement floor. Dirt floors in basements and crawlspaces can require more extensive application methods and can be very costly, $3-5,000 depending on the size.
