    Let me guess. The powder is "shell sand" which is fine sand used in metal casting with phenolic resin to set at temperature and build a shell around a pattern.
    So you deposit the shell sand in a thin layer, then harden it by a simple laser and create a sand mold ? Genius!

    Very interesting and impressive. Wondering like compared to sand cores were used to make at the grey iron foundry, how this compared to cost effective. Seems way awesome and practical for prototyping. Also, seems like for certain higher tech component for manufacturing metal components... especially with specific properties and exotic alloys. Wondering also capabilities for ceramics possibly. Thanks for sharing!

    So this is a video of making DIY molds with an industrial SLS printer? Or a DIY printer? Either way very cool to see some footage of an SLS printer working usually that's hard to find good video of.

    Is that fiber laser or co2 laser sir?
    Can i see the all machine design? Hehe
    Very lovely and i so corious hehe

      The fiber laser is right.
      I'll put the equipment design back on the next video.This is simple because I made it myself.

    What powder are you using please? I want to buy a zcorp machine but I can't source the media and this looks like a nice alternative.. I have build several cnc machines

    • @metal3d202
      @metal3d202  6 років тому +2

      Markitos203 This powder is resin coated sand. I knew zcorp machine was merged into 3d systems . please check 3d systems machine. thanks

    Is the design and construction of this machine documented anywhere? I am very interested in building one. What software do you use to program and run the machine? Is this open source?

    • @metal3d202
      @metal3d202  6 років тому

      David Preston we made design of this machine. You can build one . but You should be know instrument design, method of laser&scanner control, software coding , and design slicing , electric device etc

    I forgot: what kind of optic do you use? Is that a closed machine with some inert gas inner? Is that a commercial sand or do you have your own recipe?

    • @metal3d202
      @metal3d202  7 років тому +2

      nipponso closed machine is collect. so we do not use insert gas. this powder is commercial sand.

      Dhanabal Arumugam I do R&D and do not sell. R&D cost is about us$ 150000 not include slicing software.

    So its basically a 3d printer for glass?

    • @metal3d202
      @metal3d202  3 роки тому

      Glass(laser ?) is RF laser (100W).it made by coherent company

      @@metal3d202 i understand, i just think glass or silicon with the fact that its sand

    Thanks for your videos Sir! May I ask some specs please? What brand and model of galvo head do you use? I have already a "cheap" CO2 laser tube (glass): do you think is it possible to use it on that machine? Maybe you have some expensive Synrad RF Excited Laser Tube? How many watts? Thank you.

    • @metal3d202
      @metal3d202  7 років тому +2

      nipponso thanks for watching this video
      galvo head is made in Germany. 'S...' brand company.
      This laser is 100w RF type. but we have been use laser of co2(tube) another machine.
