Don't worry Jack, i rose from my sick bed to say "Be careful of those tumbleweeds blowing past in the barren streets of the comments section cos they really scratch".🤣
Love Cellar Darling. Yes, an interesting mix of folk/prog metal. Anna Murphy, the vocalist plays the hurry-gurdy and the flute parts, and I believe does most of the composing. Are they still together? Haven’t seen any new content from them lately.
@@Random-221 Yep they're still together. They played a few small venues in the UK late 2022 but i haven't heard any news from them since the new year :)
Love Cellar Darling! They are former members of Swiss folk-metal band Eluveitie, who are also pretty neat. I love the implementation of some prog elements into this heavy, slightly folk, sound.
Cool!. Very interesting. Since Jethro Tull I have always valued some wind instrument in rock music. Vocals... wonderful. Thank you Jack, great job as always.
I know nothing of Earlyrise, will make sure to give them a listen! edit: checked out The Villain, totally see where you're coming from, kinda a more electro and dreamy Tool?
That was a strange mix of Folk, Metal and Prog Rock. Changed too much, too quickly, for me, from one genre to another. Plus I've been aurally spoiled this past week, between Babymetal's new album and a new mv of a live performance of Puzzle from Band-Maid.
Fair doos, there were quite a few changes, but I reckon they did a good job of making the transitions smooth enough that it feels like one piece of music, you know? I sometime get fed up with prog (and some modern metal) when it changes tempo every riff, can end up feeling like a collection of riffs instead of a song

I'll keep my eye out for them, cheers Gary!

Didn't realise she played the flute as well until I found a live version of it!
Stay safe and well, Gary.

Coming from a folk-metal band makes a tonne of sense, never knew there was much of a scene for it in Switzerland though!
just like your analysis of guitar

Glad you enjoyed it, cheers Juan!
Nice recommendation, never heard of this band, reminds me of Earlyrise.

New band to me. Great stuff! I love folk influences in metal. Nice recommendation Gary.
Superb. The cycle of new band recommendation continues!
I'm here 7 days late to say "Thx First Against".👍
