I hope I will save some "hardgainers" a few years with the following "secret": Count your daily calorie intake. If you take it serious with building size, there won´t be a way around it. If your weekly bodyweight average doesn´t increase - add 200kcal to your daily calories. Now magic things will happen since you start to get a feeling about what it means to give your body the energy it really needs to build muscle. Start optimizing your micro- and macronutrients over time to get better results. Forget the tips of your friends that don´t give a shit about anything and still gain muscle. Your future questions will be like "how can I eat more calories without crying". A smoothiemaker will be your best friend, I promise.
Plus, you'll feel the difference between being on a bulk and being on a cut. When you're on a cut, it's like you're climbing over walls day after day. But when you're on a bulk, you walk through walls.
It is useful at first, for realizing just how little you're actually eating, and how much more you have to eat, even with a 300 caloric surplus. After a while, you'll get the sense of how much you have to eat and just repeat that, adding a little more food each time you feel a plateau based on your looks, weight and strength. Which is intuitive eating.
@@SavingPrivateBob Or you could just train the body to adapt and switch between fed and fasted state without any appreciable difference. It's only then that you realise there never were any walls in the first place.

I'm an extreme hardgainer. (I've gotten everything tested by a doctor I'm about to mention.) Been bulking for half a year and am at: 9.1 % Bodyfat. 49.1 % Muscle Mass 65.4 % Water At the doctors my maintenance level of calories was estimated to be 1600 including exercise already. I've been eating 3000 on my bulk and don't seem to be gaining any weight at all.
If your appetite is terrible try this : sleep well, exercise/gym/ drink water and from my experience the best thing to do : stop drinking carbonated drinks, especially before a meal, it will make you feel full from the start
Eating is really all it is to all my skinny guys. I was 130 pounds soaking wet started eating lots and lots of food both healthy and junk foods with moderate weight lifting and I am now 150 and feeling stronger and very confident with myself.
Moving my main meals closer to night time seemed to help regulate my metabolism the most, also used at least a 800-1200 calorie surplus to help account for error.

An honest tip as someone on a bulk who's a "hard gainer" - breakfast. Focus on carbs that'll digest fast and get you a bunch of easy calories. If you do a protein heavy breakfast, you'll probably be less hungry at lunch, so stick with a shake and some carbs. Trust the process, put in the work.
He's so different when he's on stage, it looks like his personality on stage is terrifying like a super serious bad ass hero.but looking at this it's just so friendly
Guys I think one think to focus on, it’s you need more calories. Not actually have to eat a lot more. Sometimes just opt for the higher calorie meal and you can eat the same. Also oils/sauces/blending shit up
So true. Wanting to go lift the easy part, but diet is key to making any gains in the gym. Its tough, getting in protein and all the other essentials such as good fats, high fiber carbs, and vegetables, but it pays off.
1 cup Rice 1 cup frozen vegetables chicken or beef 8 oz you can add sweet potatoes breakfast is oatmeal and four egg whites with one full egg. Don't over think the diet just eat. If it's too expensive sub with tuna
As an extreme hardgainer, before I was pushing 3000+ calories a day but some things I didn’t take into consideration was the type of food I was eating and how I rested, I slept very late and sometimes had to wake up early because of school, and most of my intake was junk food. Though it’ll make you gain, it won’t help you gain well, I suggest eating “clean”, I’m around 40kg by the way. edit: aged 17, height 5’4
my tip as a hard gainer who gained a lot of weight is don’t try to eat what you don’t like just because you see your influencer eat. cook and eat what you like making sure you got some amount of protein in it and also eat protein shakes it’s easier to drink shake than eat same amount of calories meal
Its true. I mean there are some tips, like eating calorie dense foods and making really heavy shakes but theres no secret formula. Try and track your calories, and even if its not perfect, give it time and you will see the changes!
So true, If you are underweight you can't fully build the body, I have wasted half a year by doing so, now I have rejoined the gym when I started I weight 60kg now over 2-month time-lapse I have gained around 8kg over 2 months by only taking 2500 Calories which was little bot harder my now gotten the grip i even surplus that easily, my workout strength has seen massively changes. I'm 6.2 - About to be 18 and my roadmap is 85KG, I'll keep you guys updated
I'm not much of a hardgainer, but I still struggle to get in enough food. Because I used to be overweight, I'm kinda scared to eat high-calorie foods. So my diet is composed of high-protein and high-fibre foods. High volume. So I get full easily while eating, and it's hard to continue eating and get in those calories.
I eat one big meal a day and I'm 6'3 220 and leaned and muscular. But my one meal a day is big. 8oz sirloin steak 1 baked sweet potatoe 2 cups steamed veggies and 8 pieces of grilled shrimp is what I had today with 1 cup brown rice. Intermittent fasting keeps me lean while eating one big meal of good food builds up the physique 💪🏻
Thanks for this insightful video! As a hard gainer and a beginner, your content has been incredibly helpful. I’ve been working out for months and have seen small gains, but progress is extremely slow. I have some unique challenges as I’m diabetic and have vagus nerve damage, which affects my digestion and motility. This means I can’t consume large amounts of meat for protein. I currently take Naked Whey to get 100 grams of protein daily and supplement with other foods to reach about 137-140 grams of protein since I weigh 137 pounds. Additionally, I need to keep my carb intake under 145 grams per day to manage my glucose levels. Given these constraints, do you have any suggestions on how I can optimize my muscle growth? Any advice on training routines, diet adjustments, or supplements that could help me build muscle more effectively would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all you do!
Big trick - eat more calorie dense foods if you are struggling with getting so much quantity in. Cooking more with vegetable oils for example can drastically increase the amount of calories you get down without having to eat so much more :)
Used to be 80 lbs in 8th grade but I’ve been trying to gain weight so I can build more, I’m about 135 lb right now and my goal before the end of high school is to be around 150 lbs (I’m going into the 11tb grade).
Def training heavy high volume compounds 4-6 sets 3x a week and rest as you get more advanced add some accessory lifts but your focus should be on bench deadlift and squat 4-6 sets of each once a week at a weight that’s heavy for you to lift but stil can do 10-13 reps
You can try calorie smoothies/drinks. You can get a good 800-1000 calories in there if you’re good at making them. It’ll be tough on your stomach and may taste like terrible like mine but they’ve helped me put on decent weight and muscle.
Some people have GI(gastrointestinal disorders) - like h pylori. Such dysbiosis can make it hard to gain weight because of the hormones it regulates- leptin and ghrelin- and because it affects the flow of gastric juices and acids causing malabsorption of fats and proteins. Might need to get that checked out if you have such an issue…
I have a eating disorder, nervous gag reflex. So l watch cooking shows, the galloping Gourmet with Graham kerr, Julia Child, when l was a kid, now Rachel Ray, Eddie Murphy, the klumps, Giada de Larentis, etc.
We’re not all dealt the same cards for gaining weight. You can either cry about it or put in the work. Work as in eating until your gagging and chugging down drinks to get the food down your gullet everyday until your body adjust to it. Put in the work.

He’s 100% right. I just struggle with appetite so it’s hard to force feed myself
"Don't overthink it. Don't look for secrets. Just do the hard sh*t... and grow."
Ah yes, that was a niiice dose of tough love
This is the best advice I've had, I've been going to the gym for over 6 months on my usual diet and didn't see much change(I weighed 71kg when I started) but after taking this advice 4 months later I'm 98kgs with mass looking to cut soon
high calorie low volume foods help alot
Examples pls
I meann 1 scoop of peanut butter is a lot of calories
Thank Jesus for dudes like this. Or Vishnu or whatever. You deserve everything bro.
It's only then that you realise there never were any walls in the first place.
best advice 100% , people who say they can't gain weight really underestimate how much calories they eat in.
My metabolism is so fast that 4500 cal per day doesnt even gain weight for me 😭
ua-cam.com/video/u66hdWrBxoU/v-deo.html
Oh it will eventually. Eat more.
Add another meal and snack on jerky throughout the day
@Chris bro im not capping i promise you. Its seriously like impossible for it to not work but im not joking. Im a centre mid in soccer tho and play about 2-3 times a week so its a lot of cardio, but somehow 4500 isnt enough
@@FreezyPop jerky lowky crazy imma get some thanks bro
I’m a “hard gainer” and I started at 118 pounds a year ago and now I’m at 129. Im so proud of myself. Still looking like a stick but one day I’ll be strong!! My goal is 135 for now.
Yeah my metabolism is super fast so I'm eating 5000 calories a day now divided into 6 meals
ua-cam.com/video/u66hdWrBxoU/v-deo.html
6 meals lmao dude doesn't it get boring doing the same shit all day long? Not even a pro on top of that?
@@ostrichcum9369 no I change my meals up throughout the day. But 4/6 meals a day are rice(for carbs), some sort of vegetable, and meat. But I do take a break on the weekend which are my rest days,, so I don't get too bored of it all.
@@beanboi3383 firstly i appreciate you for being civilized.
So youre the kind of guy who eats small volume meals divided 6 times for a day usually right?
How's your appetite tho boss and how does your cheat days look like?
Personally im 5'11 and 3500 cals do it for me to gain muscles progressively.
But I only eat 3 times a day
@@ostrichcum9369 I'm doin a dirty bulk currently so I don't really have a cheat day, I kind of just eat whatever i can find and have those main meals as my source of protein. But my appetite will vary depending on different circumstances. Yeah I'm 5'6 and I'm super skinny with a fast metabolism so I have to eat like crazy if I want to gain any weight at all.
Guy is dropping absolute gems lol
Just include more healthy oils to fill up on those calories 🧠
Can you elaborate what healthy oil?
@@Fim22 olive oil
It's so damn impossible to not absolutely love this guy
Smoke some pot 👌 and enjoy your meal. 😁
The CBum shorts are some of the only shorts I can actually watch
Thanks I needed that, I started training 2 years ago at 115, now im around 155 but i have been stuck there for almost 6 months with 0 results and finally in the last month or two i hit 160, there really is no secret, count your calories, count your proteins, if you dont do that then you dont want it bad enough.
I'm an extreme hardgainer.
(I've gotten everything tested by a doctor I'm about to mention.)
Been bulking for half a year and am at:
9.1 % Bodyfat.
49.1 % Muscle Mass
65.4 % Water
At the doctors my maintenance level of calories was estimated to be 1600 including exercise already.
I've been eating 3000 on my bulk and don't seem to be gaining any weight at all.
From 135 to 180 in 3 years of gym at college, I wish I would've respected advice like this sooner, it's the truth. No excuses, just eat.
“Don’t look for secrets, just do the hard shit”. Now those are words to live by.
Gotta love the way he gives in depth answers
This is by far the best answer to this question, ever.
I am commenting on this video to make sure that I never forget about this video .
If your appetite is terrible try this : sleep well, exercise/gym/ drink water and from my experience the best thing to do : stop drinking carbonated drinks, especially before a meal, it will make you feel full from the start
Such general advice .. there is so much more to gaining lean mass than just “eat more “
Eating is really all it is to all my skinny guys. I was 130 pounds soaking wet started eating lots and lots of food both healthy and junk foods with moderate weight lifting and I am now 150 and feeling stronger and very confident with myself.
How tall
@@joelm4847 5'9
Moving my main meals closer to night time seemed to help regulate my metabolism the most, also used at least a 800-1200 calorie surplus to help account for error.
LETS FUCKEN GOOOO!!! I started my journey two months ago, that’s all What I’m doing, eating and eating and eating and then work out lets FUCKEN gooooooo
Simple answer i have ever heard 😂
Chris champ thanks
Thanks Chris. Motivated!!!
World's of respect for you brother
He's so different when he's on stage, it looks like his personality on stage is terrifying like a super serious bad ass hero.but looking at this it's just so friendly
Guys I think one think to focus on, it’s you need more calories. Not actually have to eat a lot more. Sometimes just opt for the higher calorie meal and you can eat the same. Also oils/sauces/blending shit up
So true. Wanting to go lift the easy part, but diet is key to making any gains in the gym. Its tough, getting in protein and all the other essentials such as good fats, high fiber carbs, and vegetables, but it pays off.
I always find it funny with these videos as its not that eaay a lot of life factors come into play i would take adive from this dude
In what country do you live
@@_Yombo I don’t see the relevancy in that but I live in the UK
@@NEGA_SHORTS Ah ok
Lifting heavy weights consistently is the easy part for me....eating, getting my meals in, is the hard part for me.
my tip as a hard gainer who gained a lot of weight is don’t try to eat what you don’t like just because you see your influencer eat. cook and eat what you like making sure you got some amount of protein in it and also eat protein shakes it’s easier to drink shake than eat same amount of calories meal
CBum is the most adorable sounding person on the planet I love it
Thanks for the tips daddy cbum
I eat one big meal a day and I'm 6'3 220 and leaned and muscular. But my one meal a day is big. 8oz sirloin steak 1 baked sweet potatoe 2 cups steamed veggies and 8 pieces of grilled shrimp is what I had today with 1 cup brown rice. Intermittent fasting keeps me lean while eating one big meal of good food builds up the physique 💪🏻
I love it 😂 dope! Hope you win again 🫡💪🏼
He did 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Thanks for this insightful video!

Love that the best bodybuilder is go I f this advice because it’s sooo true
Do the hard shit and GROW!
“Stop being a little bitch” I wish more coaches talked like this that soft talk don’t motivate shit
Keep doing your thing
Def training heavy high volume compounds 4-6 sets 3x a week and rest as you get more advanced add some accessory lifts but your focus should be on bench deadlift and squat 4-6 sets of each once a week at a weight that’s heavy for you to lift but stil can do 10-13 reps
You can try calorie smoothies/drinks. You can get a good 800-1000 calories in there if you’re good at making them. It’ll be tough on your stomach and may taste like terrible like mine but they’ve helped me put on decent weight and muscle.
Thank you Cbum...
I needed this to be honest man,

@@DarkoFitCoach its going great man, gained 10 pounds so far, getting bulked then shredded
That’s my problem I barely have time to eat meals , I eat very little maybe breakfast and if I get lucky lunch and absolutely no dinner due to work.

We’re not all dealt the same cards for gaining weight. You can either cry about it or put in the work. Work as in eating until your gagging and chugging down drinks to get the food down your gullet everyday until your body adjust to it. Put in the work.

For a lot of us that's easier said than done. While some people can eat so much they turn into another species, I struggle to finish my sandwiches, which is happening this very moment. 😢
Hunger is regulated by metabolism, so you probably don’t need to eat as much as other people.
@@sebastianpedersen2846 That's definitely a piece of the puzzle. My point is being a hardgainer is real, and it's not about being a little bitch. He should have offered more constructive feedback.
Lol ☠️ im dead over this
I gained 30lbs on 18 months by eating right before bed. Waking up 5 hrs into my sleep, eating and going back to bed. Then eating immediately when waking up to start my day. Then I ate small meals every 3-4 hrs.
