- Episode 266 - After some time out from the hobby, I am back out metal detecting again and doing what I love! After some really tough times in life, tough times at home, tough times at work, I am back! I've had to sell my car, and now my mode of transport is this fantastic e-bike from DYU Cycles. Hi mate, a dog is probably the best deterrent / alarm you can have. The car thieves left my house and tried a house round the corner, a dog woke up and they ran off. I would love a dog, but it's a huge responsibility. Thanks for watching

Hi there buddy, thanks for your comments. OK so I upgraded our locks to 3 star anti snap locks. I got 3 cctv cameras up front and back plus security lights front and back. Had an expensive alarm system fitted 2 days ago. Also flogged the Cupra and got my dream family estate / detecting wagon - a Peugeot 308 SW. So life is good and my home is very secure now. I can start to concentrate and work hard on my channel again now. Thanks for stickin around

Some great finds for a lovely day, it's such a shame about your recent problems that have occurred and I know it's tough and hard to push forward but I'm thankful that everyone is alright and well. Your family is the most important in the world, and a week of detecting isn't bad, we all 100% get why you have had a break, plus you deserve the beak and the time off for the amount of effort you have put in recently. Your e-bike is a great idea. I bought a 5600W e-scooter to get up the hills in the gold prospecting areas of Australia which can be steep and rugged. Bought a utility belt to hang my pick off so as to allow both hands free to steer.

Hello, yes it was a tough week, but we came out the other side stronger and in a much better position. Our home is super secure now and I swapped sports car for a family estate and loving it. Life is good again, just need to re-kindle my love for the hobby and my channel again :)

Ring cameras inside and outside your house mate, they can 99/100 differentiate between animanls and humans and very good at night.. Get a couple of (Chinese import) lasers, 1 on each floor, shine them at a burglar and they can't see a thing. Keep up the good work, much love to the family.
Hi mate, a doorbell cam is on our list, but we have already bought new anti snap locks, cctv cameras front & back, security lights front n back and a home alarm system. So our home is much more secure and safe. I also swapped my sports car for a family estate, so life is great again :)

Hi mate, thanks for dropping by. I don't recall ever finding one of those tokens before, so something different. Yes the lead shelf is well and truly stacked, I often wonder that I may return home from work one day and the shelf will have collapsed and there will be smashed glass and bits of lead everywhere haha. Most of my lead finds now live in tubs sadly. I might start giving stuff away

So its all good now, but it was a rough few days that is for sure. I am trying to work harder on my channel and try to upload weekly again, hopefully I can re-find those levels. Hi mate, the bike is cool, but you would be AMAZED at how heavy it is with all that zinc and acid in it. Right challenge carrying it over one a them metal farm gates, almost pulled me back out hahaha

I found a nice silver ring yesterday and a couple of nice badges and buttons. Oh and a spectacle buckle.. not a bad 4 hours.
I've just not had the time recently.
I should of been in Israel on holiday this past week, but with all the trouble that was obviously cancelled. I managed to get out detecting twice, but that's not enough for me.

Picked up a new detecting wagon this week, the Cupra is long gone and I now drive a Peugeot 308 Estate, proper dad car, but am absolutely loving it. Gone from 365bhp to 129bhp haha. But also zero car loan and cheap motoring

Do you know which episode that comment was on? I can only see the comments that UA-cam presents to me. Comments go missing all the time, it is no secret that the UA-cam comments section is terrible. I use the Studio app to respond to comments, it displays the ones I've not replied to in order. I start with the oldest and reply to every single one. @@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Missing local man finally found by local dog walker. Gareth was said to have become delirious having suffered heat exhaustion due to sweltering heat and dehydration. The rescuer who wishes to remain anonymous found Gareth digging frantically with his bare hands mumbling 'please, just a different seal'. Gareth was found to be heavily weighed down by 60kg of lead artefacts, all with the same inscription.
A menacing spade was also recovered nearby. Initially assumed dangerous, police later discovered he was in fact a metal detecting enthusiast who forgot to take his water. Gareth 'The Lead Man' as locals now know him is 'doing better' to the relief of his worried family. All other such artefacts were found and removed thanks to numerous volunteers who decided these should be extracted for his own safety. Most of them said to be UA-cam fans who saw the signs early on.
During the clean up, a hoard of Gold Celtic coins was discovered which was donated to the local museum by the generous finder with 50% going to the land owner. Gareth's partner commented that he's not yet aware of this as the excitement may be 'a bit too much at this time'. She describes Gareth's been holding 'bag seals' to his ear saying ''ssshhh.... I'm listening to heavy metal''. We hope Gareth makes a full recovery.

Been struggling get out myself mate been over 2 weeks myself my car gear box broke packed in and just had a new car myself i went for the Skoda fabia 1.6 TDI 😅 decent car tbh for about 4k, so good luck bud on searching for a new car and u bet these floods havent helped at all

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire i had a Peugeot 207 so i wish you luck with that after that i dont think ill touch a french car again 😅 and my last 3 as well its hars get a video out when all i dig is little bits of scrap lead and buttons which seems to be very common on my channel lately. Now my skoda fabia is in the garage as the clutch went on it but luckily i have a warranty onit. But I'm having nothing but bad luck atm so i know the feeling buddy.

I know they are soft and friendly dogs when brought up correctly, but I would like to think they would intervene if someone would break into your home. Crime seems to be on the rise everywhere, the UK is not the same place it used to be in the 80's and 90's. Thanks for watching

I now have a Peugeot 308 Estate and its awesome!! Cheap to run, huge boot and 6k cheaper than the Cupra so paid off my car loan and banked the rest. All good in the hood. Cheers dude. G
There’s some scumbags out there Gareth, if you ever get another nice car, get a ghost immobile fitted to it, even if they have the keys, car ain’t going anywhere without that code, i keep my RS Audi and other toys hidden away for that very reason 😂 everyone thinks i only own a Lupo Gti 😂
Also from a safety point of view, don’t charge that e bike when nobody’s about or over night
Those batteries can’t be trusted!
Hi mate, thanks for your comments. Well my Cupra had a Ghost Immobiliser on it, so even if the thieves had found my keys, they wouldn't have been able to start the car haha. I got rid of the car and now have my dream family estate / detecting wagon, a Peugeot 308 SW haha, in black of course. I'll probably end up selling the e-bike. It was a freebie from a company who asked me to do a review and feature it on my channel. Thanks as always for coming along
I'm watching this outside Sainsbury's while the wife is shopping and a bloody seagull just shat all over my car and some came in the open window lol. Hi John, haha that was brilliant, although not for you haha!! Thanks as always for coming along week in week out and sticking with my channel. The e-bike is cool, but perhaps a tad small for me. Only meant to take up to 75kg, but it seemed to cope OK with 105kg of prime British meat onboard haha

They did actually, they got pulled over the next day in 1 of my neighbours Volvo. They ran from the police, but they caught em. Out on bail now. Probs get a slap on the wrists. 14 cars went missing from the area that night. Organised crime, pro car thieves!!

Hi mate, unfortunately we live in a world full of crime, but it is what it is. We battle on and we move on. My home is much more secure and safe, it was a kickup the backside we needed. Even got rid of the sports car and have my dream family estate / detecting wagon, which you guys will soon see :)

Hi mate, thank you for your kind and supportive words. Only way is up and forwards, my home is much more secure and safe now and I swapped my sports car for a family estate car, so life is good again :)
