      'Ñ' is part of Filipino Language.

      the philippines was colonized by spain for more than 300 years and it was during this time that they were given surnames so most of the surnames sound spanish. the enye (lol i can't input the symbol rn) is mostly just in names and in words adopted from spanish

      Ñ is a spanish adopted by filipinoes
      Instead of spanish called "enye" (ñ).we usually used (nya,nyi,nyo )
      Spanish _pi-ña / filipino_ pi-nya
      Señorita / senyorita etc.
      But common word santo niño/
      Firstnames iñigo,niña
      Correct me if i missed something😊😊😊
      Surnames quiñones teñoso etc...

    In my province here in Batanes (northernmost group of islands in the PH), "ñ" has always been a part of our speech. (We call ourselves and our language "Ivatan")
    ñipen (teeth)
    mayñen (painful)
    mararani/mararañi (almost)
    ñiya/niya (this)
    sayrin/sayriñ (fishing hook)
    ñuy/niuy (coconut)

    " Bakit 'to nangyari sa'tin " is a shortened or contracted form of the full sentence "Bakit ito nangyari sa atin?", and which means "Why did it or this happen to us?" or "Why it or this happened to us?".
    The pronoun " ito " (it, this) was shortened or contracted into just " 'to ", and the prepositional phrase " sa atin " (to us, for us, at us, on us, with us) is shortened or contracted into just " sa'tin ".

    Ñ-enye is included in the Filipino alphabet decades ago. However, we don't really use it in writing. It's more of like used in surnames and some first names and a few spanish words included in the Filipino vocabulary. Example: Sto. Niño, Iñigo, Señorita.
    But most of the times, we replace ñ with "ny", so señorita will be spelled as senyorita, but Sto. Niño cannot be Sto. Ninyo, its a forbidden rule 😂

    • @thepinoychoppingboard1012
      @thepinoychoppingboard1012 3 роки тому +12

      As long as it is a proper name, that can't be replaced.

    • @badlongon525
      @badlongon525 3 роки тому +10

      True.proper names with "Ñ" are kept such as Nuñez, Parañaque, Tañada... but common names that have "ñ" are changed to "ny" e.g piña to pinya, señorito to senyorito or nyorito, compaña to kumpanya.

    • @yaseiKen
      @yaseiKen 3 роки тому +1

      Tbh when i was young i thought ñ is adapted to our alphabet cause it is used world wide i.e english. Cause Filipino language always do that we dont make new words for foreign words we just borrowed it and include in our vocabulary. Also "ng" that still confuse me ,its only use for "nang" to shorten it but why include in alphabet 🤔🤔🤔

    • @vansilleza
      @vansilleza 3 роки тому +3

      @@yaseiKen "ng" is included in Filipino alphabet, it is not the short form of "nang".
      Example: Nang mawalay ka sa buhay ko.
      Cannot rewrite "Nang" to "Ng" because the meaning will change. And it's gramatically incorrect to say "Ng mawalay ka sa buhay ko" because "Nang" here means "Noong" ("When" you went out of my life)..
      Noong mawalay ka sa buhay ko.

    • @yaseiKen
      @yaseiKen 3 роки тому

      @@vansilleza ohh sorry i phrase it wrong, i mean when you read "ng" its "nang" but for english in example "ng" is read "ngii". So im confuse and honestly more confuse now that i think about it why it was added to the filipino alphabet. Ohh btw i know when reciting alphabet we say "N-G" but that whats confusing more hahaha

    @1:03 - "Do you use 'ñ' in any other words?"
    I'm not sure if anyone has answered this, but YES! and it's also pronounced as "enye"
    And it's part of our official Filipino alphabet. It's not only limited to surnames and proper nouns but also to certain words retained from Spanish language.
    But, because we are using American English keyboard, most of it are now typed with "ny" and accepted in both formal and informal writing.
    Speech is still pronounced it as "enye" both formally and informally.

    If you only understand the lyrics of the song, you would surely appreciate the performance even more. Love you both. Hope my girls would grow up with the same respect and affection that you both are showing each other.

    Unang beses ko palang marinig 'tong kantang 'to, It really touches my heart, parang naging emosyunal ako bigla charot jajaja, Anó yung pangalan nung isang vocalist na may white gitara? jajaja ang guapo n'ya😅 These two are the reason why I love OPM now kasi dati medyo hindi hihihi... Sila ang rason kung ba't punong-puno na ng OPM ang phone ko jajaja char, more power! 🤙

    No. Our written words are not accentuated e.g. ó, é, á. It used to have accents like "nañgyayari" but because Tagalog spelling became Americanized, we dropped the accented spelling as it used to be just like in Spanish. So "nañgyayari" has has changed to "nangyayari", "manga" is changed to mangga (mango) to specify that -ga is a different syllable in contrast to a similar word "mañga" (plural participle) or "mga" wherein -nga is the second syllable.
