You are so right! My friends always ask me why I don’t sell my handmade ornaments and I always tell them because no one would pay me for all my time! Only ppl who do this kind of work can appreciate why things handmade cost more than OTHERS think they are worth. 😡
Thank you so much. I just found your channel this morning. An old friend made me a beaded Bauble years ago. I feel intimidated as I'm new to beading. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing this! It's much appreciated.😊
In 1977 I was given some very valuable advice from my woodshop teacher. Yes, I took woodshop and I still love working with wood, but I digress. The advice was to never turn your hobby into your job. You will grow to dislike it. My teacher used to love woodworking until he started teaching it and it became a chore. I am grateful to this man for sharing this with me because I have always kept it in mind as I create with my crafts. I do sell some things from time to time but I craft for the simple enjoyment of creating. This video came to me today and I am excited to give this a try. If I like it I will make these beauties for gifts to my loved ones. Thank you so much for your tutorial ❤. I will now go and hit the subscribe button 😊 oh, one last thing, I love your humor 😂
Yes, years ago I decided to bake cakes for income, since I enjoyed it so much making for my family. I found it really interesting that while the activity was the same, my feelings about it were entirely different, and I hated doing it for money even when it was going to a lovely organic shop down the road. Funny, isn't it? Wouldn't know unless you tried it. And then you hear of others turning a hobby into income and loving it.
@anitapeura3517 when the mood hits me I will make jean purses and jeans jackets to sell but otherwise I don't make to sell. I don't want to start disliking something I love doing.
I also have made these for years. I give them as Christmas gifts. I make a different design every year. Just a hint for anyone new to this: if you use the inexpensive beads to see if you like it or not, start out with a bead count, BUT MEASURE YOUR BEAD LINE. The cheaper beads are not uniformed in size and it will mess up your design hugely. You might not see it at first, but it will become obvious later after hours of work. Thank you for your tutorial. I do it a different way, but it's always nice to learn a new perspective. It is appreciated.
I gave up on cheap beads, because of how inconsistent they are. The good ones (anything japanese or czech) aren't too much more expensive and are so worth it.
I am 63 and for all of my adult life I have made Christmas gifts for my entire family as I believe in tradition and love the fact that the gifts will become family keepsakes. I visited with my niece in BC a year ago and was pleasantly surprised to see that not only did she have all of the ornaments that I had made for her but she also had asked her Mum for half of the family's ornaments for her tree. It was a beautiful feeling for me to see her joy in having, as she called it, her family's love with her at Christmas... She has started to make her own ornaments to give as gifts. I love your beautiful ornaments and will try to make them as beautiful and unique as you...thank you for a wonderful tutorial ❤️ and have a Happy Christmas 🎄 😊
A beautiful lady made a Christmas decoration for my daughter every year since her birth and every one of them, including one like this, has been kept with much love and appreciation.❤ They are very beautiful, and each year they still go on the tree, even the cross stitch Christmas tree on a small card. Great video.
I love your warnings in advance. You're being very realistic about the process. Too many people just look at the end result and don't think about what it took to get there. Beautiful work!

The best animation! So helpful - brilliant. Thank you!
My manager where I used to work, his wife ran a bead shop and she made our whole crew Christmas ornaments like this one year. The netting didn't go all the way down the ornament it just covered it to maybe half way down and they were small ornaments. But he gave me all the extra ones that were left when everyone got one and I LOVE them so much. I still use them every year on my tree. These you have made are so extravagant and just beautiful! I would love to try this at some point in time if I ever get the chance financially.
You do incredibly beautiful handwork. You're an outstanding instructor and your use of honest humor is delightful. I'll be back to enjoy more of your baubles and teachings.
This came up randomly in my feed and I felt as if I was watching myself. For about 20yrs I made beaded Christmas baubles (much the same as yours) and gave them as gifts. Yes, I tried selling at craft fairs- not a good experience - as well as making to order. In the end I did it for the pleasure of making rather than to make money. I still make a few now and then, more to use up my huge stash than anything else. Thank you for your witty and humorous explanation of just how much goes into crafting one of these - and how occasionally heartbreaking accidents occur. Hopefully those who don’t craft will understand and appreciate what it costs - imagination, skill, money and most of all time, to create wonderful things!
I came here after watching fringe earing making tutorials. I quickly became hooked! Your authentic humor, animation and beautiful beading work encouraged me to tap the subscribe button. Can't wait to follow and learn more!
Your intro to the video is so refreshing! I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have someone break it down up front, without 3,023 “umms” and “where’s my wire cutter?” I do adore your creations and you must share DNA with Mother Teresa to have the patience to work with those tiny beads. 😂❤😂❤
Oh god what have you done. The seed bead you've implanted in my brain now must be done. Its so beautiful and this tutorial was great. I must make them. 🖤🎄🙏
Oh my gosh i am so happy i found your channel. Idk if im gonna make one or not (im crafty but i also dunno if id be able to do this level 😂 ) but i watched this entire video just loving every second lol. You are a marvelous teacher, and i love the way you allow creativity but tell us the parts that are necessary for the function/end result. I just love your voice and how you speak, damn I could just listen to you all day. Lol youre so realistic (knowing how tidious this is and thst isnt for everyone ) while also almost bubbling over with how much you love these and respect the art and the aesthetic. I love all your references like where you wanted your bauble to look like it had hung. And i giggled at the end when you said " no really its fine im over it" with the eye rub 😂🙈 ive been there, i know that all too well. So sorry for your bauble but glad to know you can detach and keep all the hard work! Anyways just so happy to found you im gonna go subscribe and see what else youve posted 👀💜
Omg I love you. I appreciate this piece and am definitely finding an entire day to make one of these for my mom for Xmas. She hasn’t got a handmade ornament from me since I was still in elementary school so since I work mostly with seed beads making earrings…she’ll love it and know instantly how much she means to me. Any one single craft I do takes hours and hours so I know exactly what you’re talking about. Side hustle maybe but can’t earn a living off it. Your baubles are beautiful. So are you! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with me.
My magpie brain is absolutely in love with this and I am a lover of making things far more complicated and more complex than it ever needs to be. I will, in fact, be making one of these. Though, I definitely need to finish sewing my neice and nephews' Christmas presents first. 😅
I've been making ornament covers for 4 years now. As of now I have 50+ covers. I find that the long dangles are hard to find a place on the tree to hang them so I stick to shorter covers. Yours are very lovely.
I will definitely not make this but DAMN what a great instructional. Excellent graphics and explanation, and I just like watching you! Merry Xmas ❤❤❤🎄🎁
Wowwww, you're beaded glass balls are truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent and explaining the steps to making them. I will definitely make at least one, hopefully more. They would make amazing treasures to pass on to my kids. I love homemade gifts, especially when made for someone special in mind. It gives meaning to both those giving and those receiving. 💝
Okay, here I go, admitting how "seasoned" I am. I turned 70 last week (gasp!). When I was around 12 or 13, my Mom took me to a craft shop (small, independent, nothing like what's out there now), and I marveled at Christmas ornaments made with beads and fiber covered Styrofoam balls. I knew I had to create my own designs. Mom bought me chain findings, different sized beads and pearls, a box of Styrofoam 3" balls that were wrapped with a fine, colored shiny thread, and pearl headed pins. I decorated each ball (I now had several colors) elegantly, with bling and ribbons. I made at least a dozen, when Mom suggested I set up a table in the foyer of a large supermarket, with the permission of the store manager. On my first day, I don't remember selling any, but what I do remember was 2 older women looking over my painstakingly created ornaments and saying that they were too expensive and that they could buy a kit to make their own. I didn't even know there were kits out there, I never saw one. Needless to say, I didn't go back. It took another 20 years to teach myself beaded jewelry.
We really need to stop valuing everything according to how many dollars some rando will pay for it. There are lots of kinds of value more important than that.
Now I remember (I think) why I bought all those beads many years ago! I was going to make beaded baubles. Or possibly a lampshade. Maybe a curtain. Anyway. Great tutorial!
Absolutely beautiful work, I admire your skill and dedication. Your candied no nonsense to the point video is refreshing. Thank you for sharing your skill.
Great video, clear and informative, and love the humour! What it's like to craft around the household.....I couldn't put 6 hours together without being pulled away by this and that, but am inspired to try.
Oh my gosh, thank you for this video!! I’ve been looking for a tutorial on how even start these. This was perfect! The animated instructions were amazingly helpful!
Those are beautiful. They would make great gifts. I love these. You’d be surprised how much some people would pay for things. I’d never sell them though. There’s too much emotion that goes into them.
That is so gorgeous and your animated instructions are spectacular! I was wondering how anyone could teach this on a UA-cam video (as opposed to an in-person class) and your instructions were absolutely amazing!
I discovered these on pinterest last month and fell in love. I've just started making them with no previous beading experience. I found a couple basic tutorials and then have kinda been figuring out patterns on my own. I've made about 15 so far. I think they're so beautiful and so fun to do while watching TV or chatting (though I do tend to make a lot of mistakes if I talk while I work 😂) I'm definitely going to make this pattern next. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this video! I enjoyed learning the process and the information on how to make it according to my taste, my bead stash and the size of ball I have! Your balls are beautiful, and I am determined to create one for myself or my friends. Also, I am completely in love with your wood tray!
This was one of the best videos on beading I have ever seen. I have always wanted to try it because I like to do things by hand. Some of the points you made I already knew. They are labor intensive which means if there are other things you like to do (knitting, calligraphy, digital art) or need to do (like housekeeping, cooking, yard work etc), something has to give. One day, I’m going to give this a try though and it ranks high on my list of things I want to do. Your work is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your very realistic, practical and beautiful tips.❤
I haven’t made these in a very long time. I have wanted to make these ornament drapes again for some time now. I am so thrilled that I found your channel. I love your witty style. I immediately subscribed.💗
Beautiful ornament! I truly appreciate all the hard work you did to make just ONE of these lovelies. Six hours- Far Out!! Your tutorial is very understandable and easy to follow, thanks to your excellent animation. Thank you so much!
Great reality tutorial, so true, I made one and cannot part with it. Love, love, love this type of beading. Very meditative. Hmm maybe this is the year I will make more ❤💭
Great video, thank you! Love the directness. And, yes, unthreading is part of the rule (for me at least) and not the exception! 😂 Going to try one of these once I get my other gifts finished. Hopefully, I can come across some bulk beads to use!
What a fantastic video, animation did it for me so clear to understand. I’ve been looking for basic instructions to make these for a long time and now I can make on for myself. Thank you so much for showing us and sending you all the best wishes I have to you.❤❤
Your work is just fantastic..! Thank you so much for sharing how to do this. I will try it over Christmas. Wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas 🎄 🎄
Absolutely beautiful 💕 I would love to say I am going to make at least one. 🤞 I think I will after Christmas and hopefully finish before Christmas 2025! Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏🙏 Amazing work
OMG! You are so right in all your comments! How long does it take...LOL....can you sell it at a profit...LOL....relaxing vs anything else...LOL I see it as relaxing....i do pysanky and work 10-15 hours on one egg and could never sell it at a profit...but i have had people who actually value what i do pay hundreds for some...but your correct, can never make a living off of what I love to make vs what sells. I am following you now and will make one of these. Remember its all about getting a new type of supply and also about rearranging the craft studio for the 100th time to make room for said new craft...you are now my person! you are now my reason for yet another project! And they are spectacular! OMG the bling got me by itself.
Beautiful! I'm with you. I would be very happy creating this piece of art. I have loads of patience. Thank you for sharing. Gotta go and dig out my beads.
So glad I found this video, next week I’m taking a class, making a similar one. The teacher says everything is included, but I’m taking a cup with me, just in case! I didn’t see any bauble support in her supplies and I do better if I rest the project! And, as a quilter, I get the same sales talk and you have the most concise response I have heard! I am borrowing your explanation!!
Wow thank you for your video. You are very entertaining to listen too as well...funny...righto I have stashed you away and one day I am going to have a go at making a beaded tasselled bauble...thank you for the inspiration.
Your intro got me to subscribe. I stayed because of my deep love for doing all things fiddly. Your bauble is absolutely gorgeous! My mom is the queen of blingy Christmas decorations, and I know she will love receiving one of these for her upcoming November 6th birthday. Now I’m off to dig through my decorations to find a bead-worthy bauble. Thank you for sharing your no-nonsense instructions! 💙💙💙💙💙
I may drive myself crazy trying this but it will be sparkly and beautiful lol also you are hilarious and I appreciate the " have I mentioned this is tedious?" 😂 Pure gold lol thank you
Great video on beading ornaments. I was a porcelain doll maker for yrs. It tools me months to finish one doll because the painting of their faces, nails on hands and feet had to be as perfect as I could it to be, in other words, VERY tedious and time consuming. I'm almost 70 now but I still like doing things like this. I find that I tune out all the world problems and concentrate on what I'm doing. Do you know of any books that can be bought showing different patterns? Can you suggest kinds of stores that sell quality beads? I'm in the US. Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful and unique ornament!
Now this is the type of tutorial I love as a crafter, thank you for keeping it hilariously real 😂 Also, beautiful, but maybe when I have a lot more time on my hands I'll give it a go.
I used to make these alot I love them but yes they are a bit big for the trees so I called them window swag lol love your take on doing lots of stuff thanks!
It's funny, that was my thought when i bought my first beads 😹 not bc of this just regular beading oh and wire ... and now i started to make beaded bags as x-mas presents. But i have to say these are so awesome, really really awesome 😍
First video I've seen from your channel and my GF and I got a kick out of your sarcastic sense of humor. New sub. P.S. I've never sold a thing I've made, even though many have encouraged me to. I know I'd start to resent it and lose the passion I have for making things. My GF and I just enjoy the hobby.
This is amazing - both the bauble and the attitude 😆. Definitely making one or more of these for next year, I have a close friend who would love one if I manage to make one for her. And I have all year to make it happen... what's betting I leave it until 2 days before needed?! Subscribed ♥
Thank you for being so honest 😂 I've discovered if a craft requires tweezers, I'm going to be frustrated and not enjoying myself 😂 Beads pass though! 😂
Great great tutorial! It is daunting, but you’re honest with it and that makes it more of a go into it with your eyes wide open. I was curious what happens if it does break since the hourglass but as you say “ you’re fine, you’re fine.”So I applied you taking the time to teach us and I will save this and contemplate, either a when to do it or be how to do it simpler. Again kudos just well done Dave M California!!
This is one thing I haven't done yet, but I have a sh*t ton of beads and baubles... As an artisan trying to sell handmade items in a marketplace booth, I'm facing the knowledge that people are not so willing to pay a living wage for handmade one of a kind "objects d' art". They'll buy theufted home decor all day, but don't seem much interested otherwise (not enough). It's interesting... I have always thought to myself that "I make everything", so I'm subscribing. I love your opulent backdrop and setting, as well as your thoughts and words. Yay! Let's make purty stuff!
It's the fact that we live in the blip in history after globalised trade but before globalised wage parity, so we think things are worth what we pay for them at walmart (or pottery barn if you're posh) , but those things are made by expoited people in less developed economies. Give it another 50 or 100 years and things will look different. 😕
On a global scale I/we are competing with products made with forced labor.and in USA I can't even compete with unskilled labor making a min wage flipping lousy burgers for fast food companies. At my age, whatever happens in 50 years isn't likely to affect me. The interesting aspect of having a space to sell things is it's causing me to work to keep the booth stocked and to be more critical about using my time to up-cycle and create items to sell. In the long run this may help me refine my crafting to only the things I love doing the most. It's an interesting education.
Wow! I’m super impressed with this video! What a wonderful form of art! You made me smile through the whole thing! I’m also in love with that tray…I suppose it is a one off gorgeous lucky find but if it’s something that’s available to purchase, please let me know!
Thank you for sharing your ideas, uses a lot of beads but it was fun. I make beaded covers for glass floats found on the beaches in Alaska.
Wonderful idea!!
You are so right! My friends always ask me why I don’t sell my handmade ornaments and I always tell them because no one would pay me for all my time! Only ppl who do this kind of work can appreciate why things handmade cost more than OTHERS think they are worth. 😡
People tell me I should sell my paintings and I’m like “ok that’ll be $300”…
😅😬 no one has money for hand crafted things these days.
Yup! That's why I don't do quilt commissions anymore. People don't understand the time intensive labor and money it takes to do these crafts.
charge $1000. i promise you, someone somewhere will pay. when you recognize your value, others will also.
Someone gifted me one of these last year--I'm glad I came upon this because now I know just how much work went into it.
I love your understated, delightful, dry wit that expresses everything I need to know in a moment. Thank you for being you.
I love this video. You are such a great teacher. I laughed at the last bit, so funny.
Love this and your sense of humor!
Thank you so much. I just found your channel this morning. An old friend made me a beaded Bauble years ago. I feel intimidated as I'm new to beading. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing this! It's much appreciated.😊
I hear you! I'm feeling like small balls will be how I start. 💝
I'm only two minutes in, but your humour is everything. From someone who loves mind-numbing ultra finicky crafts, thank you 😂

@IMakeEverythingUK Totally agree. That is all I have used for years, but not when I first started out. It was a newbie mistake.
You need to be hired to do tutorials… for life things not just beading… this is explained in great detail but the video is amazing. Thank you

I really want to make a set of three of these for a good friend. She would love them, and really appreciate them!

Haha, the six hours is spread over several days! I'd die of boredom if I tried to stick it out.
Oh my gosh, thank you for this video!! I’ve been looking for a tutorial on how even start these. This was perfect! The animated instructions were amazingly helpful!

I think they're so beautiful and so fun to do while watching TV or chatting (though I do tend to make a lot of mistakes if I talk while I work 😂) I'm definitely going to make this pattern next. Thank you for sharing!
I like your sense of humor & your tutorial is wonderful!
How pretty, and I think the animation is a great aid! Would have loved to see close-ups on the rest of the beauties hanging behind you (:
The disclaimer was so funny, the ornaments are gorgeous 😍😍😍 thank you for the fabulous video.
Oh WOW I LOVE THESE!!! Holy cow the patience you have! I do think that someday I will try to make a small one lol Thank you for sharing…
Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏🙏 Amazing work
Beautiful! Macrame for baubles. Brilliant!
I've made a lot of beaded ornaments and this is by far the best tutorial I've seen. These are just gorgeous!
I love pysanky but I'm not that good at it, I want to see yours, please!
@@IMakeEverythingUK sure....you can't post photos on YT....i am new to your channel...will check to see if you have FB or other to send you a pic...
found your email...will send a few...
An ornament hook seems like it would be a total game changer for these 🤣
Beautiful! I'm with you. I would be very happy creating this piece of art. I have loads of patience. Thank you for sharing. Gotta go and dig out my beads.
Send pictures!!
Thank you for sharing your Beautiful work! Your hair is gorgeous! Thank you again for sharing your craft!
Please make more of these. This is SUCH a good tutorial. I just learned soo much. Thank you!
Working on it...!
You do beautiful work and your tutorial (including animation) was super. Thank you!
Love the way you have presented this! Xx
send pictures!!
@@IMakeEverythingUK I will try my best to remember to take some. 💙
YOU ARE BEST TUTOR I’VE EVER SEEN! Thank you for sharing! ❤❤❤
I watched this whole thing, even though I didn't understand any of it. It as amazing
I didn’t understand any of it,the visuals were way to confusing for me 😮
Now this is the type of tutorial I love as a crafter, thank you for keeping it hilariously real 😂 Also, beautiful, but maybe when I have a lot more time on my hands I'll give it a go.
Loved your video and the way you explained the process. Your personality is priceless. ☺️
Thank you for being so honest 😂
I've discovered if a craft requires tweezers, I'm going to be frustrated and not enjoying myself 😂
Beads pass though! 😂
I made a dozen of these one year for gifts. I love doing them.
Bead Curious! You win the internet today!
Again kudos just well done

California!!
It is a gorgeous babble!!!!
Funny and inspirational! Love it ❤
Lovely clear instructions
I love beaded covers for Christmas ornaments I give them as gifts
Great video! You explain things so well and have great animations for clarification.
Wow, now I know! Gorgeous work ❤
Many many compliments! You do lovely works!, I wish to have the patience, but I don't, big hug from Rome ❤❤❤
Good God those look beautiful, and also, so much harder to do than your clear, simple directions! Lol😂👍🏻🙌🏻
The editing style of your videos is so satisfying. I can't wait to see what else you make. Subbed!
I don't know if I'll ever get around to making one, but they sure are pretty! Also, you're very entertaining!
This is beyond amazing! Beautiful work, you really must be a saint. :)
I really preferred using the bugle beads. It sped up the process a lot.
They are beautiful.
Wow! I’m super impressed with this video! What a wonderful form of art! You made me smile through the whole thing!
I’m also in love with that tray…I suppose it is a one off gorgeous lucky find but if it’s something that’s available to purchase, please let me know!
Junk market on a Thursday in Todmorden, sorry! Trawl your local flea markets!
