- Covers the top down approach to offender profiling.
Take a look at the origins of the approach, the purpose of profiling and the difference between organised and disorganised offenders.
Also covers 3 evaluation points and a model 6 mark outline for an essay.
Ideal for first time learning and revision.
you're a life saver mate!
Thank you! This was really helpful.
12:40 Are the interpersonal and opportunistic categories a separate label alongside whether a criminal is organised/disorganised? So a crime might be interpersonal disorganised, for example?
Only it's a little confusing because organised and opportunistic don't sound like they could occur together.
real helpful thank you! just one question- when you talked about the 4 main stages of constructing an FBI profile, would it be beneficial mentioning them in an outline top down approach question, or would this be in a different question?
No, I wouldn't mention it. You could use that in an application question or something similar. Just stick to the main parts of the theory for an outline.
Thank you so much this was really helpful! Just a quick question please, I thought the definitions and measurement of crime was removed on the specification for forensics in the new spec. But I am surprised it was assessed as an 8 marker question in 2019. Why is that?
It got removed after the 2019 paper was sat. So there are a couple of papers that have that question in from before then
@@smcartledge2723 oh ok. Thank you
Really helpful
Thanks for the feedback.
do we actually need to remeber the applied examples of Ted Bundy and Richard Chase for the exam?
No not specifically.
You may just get an application question where you have to work out if someone is organised or disorganised. The examples in the video might help you do that
If you talk about Ted Bundy as an example of an organised offender, will examiners like that? Or is it better to leave it out?
You can do, but it won't necessarily get you more marks than a well written answer without an example. If you do mention Bundy, however, you should explain why he is an organised offender, and then you have to be careful that your answer doesn't get too long.
@@smcartledge2723 Thank you for responding! I'll briefly mention him then
1:57 I think there is a mistake here as it says on the text “36 sexually motivated serial killers” whereas you said “36 sexually motivated killers, 25 of which were serial killers” out loud
yeah, it is a mistake on the text part. 25 of the killers that were interviewed were serial killers, whereas the other 11 were just single or double killers.
