I love this episode. I remember reading E. Lynn Harris in HS because my mom had the book and after I read the 1st two books she hidden the third book and when I got into the military I bought my own copy of his books. He inspired me to continue writing and now have my own books published. Dating for me has been hard because everyone act like they know I'm gay.
Making gay friends was/is hard because they either see me as too feminine or boring. Dating is still a mystery to me, met my ex-husband through online dating. I read Dating Men by Byron Jamal. I'm not a night life person. I am ready to throw in the towel because ppl don't want to talk, don't understand quality time, and most are holding on to hetero concept of relationship and marriage.
This is good and everybody goes to therapy which is cool!!! When I started doing analysis/depth psychology I was able to look at dreams and my life from a deeper level!! Also, I did a program at UC Berkeley with psychedelics and that really helped me take a deep dive and love myself!!!
I would have love for them to define trauma for the audience. How the word is used in conversation and it medical definition aren't always in alignment
Love the book selections, and I totally agree that dating apps are terrible, hence I’ve never used them. I need the whole picture, especially the body language.

Drop the titles or links so we can support. Books absolutely change our dating lives.
If you don’t mind, can you elaborate more? Are you bi?

You said nothing but truth here. I recently finished “How to Heal a Hoe” by Byron Jamal as well.
So just make friends
There’s always audible books which are actually really great for the visuals in your mind. 😊
I think so too!
Great discussion. I remember reading E Lynn Harris' books back in the day. We need more discussions like this.

Future episode maybe. I absolutely agree that aligning language is important

I think the dating apps are what you make of them, we just don’t make anything of them
I will add these books to my 2025 reading list.
