When things were way normal between India and Pakistan than now why didn't you try in Bollywood? I am sure you would be more popular than Atif Aslam or Arijit Singh
My translation of Story of the Song>>>> The Girl is a Nurse and The Man ( celebrity) is her patient who is from High Society. And he is in Hospital since few days and is not getting better. He is going to be discharged from hospital very soon. One Night She leaves for hospital, she listen a song in Auto and as she closes her eyes she starts dreaming of his lifestyle. As Auto goes away but the camera has stopped following auto on bridge refers that the girl have moved herself in the dream of his lifestyle. She enter his life by entering the door and taking slow steps on the stairs as she is introvert and feels she does not belong to this high class society. First she finds beautiful parts of his lifestyle as he enjoys his life and by this she is impressed and to which she smiles. She is thinking about high class society near Swimming pool where other people of high society comes and acts foolish upon which she is very much angry as she holds the glass tightly to not to disclose his anger to other people as she is introvert. However then she sees the man and is happy that he is not like the other people of the society and starts to dream (dream in a dream) herself as his friend/partner to whom he talks freely while taking photographs. By this his anger is removed as then she holds the glass softly by her fingers. Then she starts to go deeper in his lifestyle as she slowed goes in his room. There she then finds the darker side of his world as she finds him taking drugs which makes him so much angry as she breaks the glass (referred as burst of her angerness) and leaves the room then his house. She runs faster compared to slow entry at beginning as she has realized her mistake to enter the glamour world and realized the darker side which teaches us that we all should do while realizing the darker side of pleasure. The sandal is left behind on staircase there referring to what she gives to this lifestyle which she doesn't want. My Foot To This Glamorous Society. She then Comes back to his real life, as she gets off the Auto and adjust her sandal, and as there she is wearing the same sandal which she left there while running referring her return to real life taking all of her belonging and not have attachment to that society and her imaginary world. She comes back from thinking and then goes to hospital as a usual nurse. As she says to the man(patient) that sometimes you feel restless for no reason means that she was also restless for no reason whole time and again leaves his room because doesn't want to get involved with a drug consuming person. This video teaches to not get attached with the person having bad habits and stay a low key who you are. I have seen this song for more than 1000 times and I feel very much connected to this song. I was just feeling low and out of the world so I started listening to my favorite songs. and then I wished to write myself down in these lines. Hope you like my efforts.
"The story is about a nurse who takes care of a man from a high-class society who is not getting better in the hospital. One night, while listening to a song in an auto, she falls asleep and dreams of the man's lifestyle. In the dream, she enters his world and is impressed by the beautiful aspects of it. She takes slow steps up the stairs, feeling like an outsider in this high-class society. However, as she witnesses the man enjoying his life, she finds herself impressed and begins to smile. She then thinks about the high-class society near the swimming pool, where other people of high society come and act foolishly. This angers her, but she holds the glass tightly to hide her feelings, as she is an introvert. However, she soon sees the man and is happy to note that he is not like the other people of the society. In her dream, she imagines herself as his friend or partner, to whom he talks freely while taking photographs. This removes her anger, and she holds the glass softly by her fingers. As she continues to explore his lifestyle, she slows down her steps and enters his room. There she finds the darker side of his world as she sees him taking drugs. This angers her, and she breaks the glass, representing her burst of anger, and leaves the room, and then his house. She runs faster, compared to her slow entry at the beginning, as she realizes her mistake of entering the glamour world and realizes the darker side of pleasure. The sandal is left behind on the staircase, symbolizing what she gives to this lifestyle, which she doesn't want. She then returns to reality, getting off the auto and adjusting her sandal. She realizes that she is wearing the same sandal that she left behind in her dream, which represents her detachment from the imaginary world and her return to reality. She then goes back to the hospital and tells the man that sometimes you feel restless for no reason, which suggests that she was also restless for no reason the whole time. She again leaves his room, not wanting to get involved with a drug-consuming person. The story emphasizes the importance of staying grounded and not being swayed by the glamour of a high-class society. It teaches us to avoid getting attached to people with bad habits and to remain true to ourselves. It also highlights the fact that sometimes we get restless for no reason and need to detach ourselves from negative influences to regain clarity." @shashi3886 Thanks for explaining video of this masterpiece. My version is just the rephrase of the original in better flow of words, so it will be easier to understand.
Ek nurse ki kahani hai jis ka ek mareez hai, jo high society se taluq rakhta hai. Woh hospital main kuch din se admit hai aur beemar nazar aa raha hai. Ek raat nurse kaam se hospital gayi aur raaste main auto main ek gaana sun rahi thi. Jab woh apni aankhein band ki toh woh us shakhs ke khayali duniya main aa gayi, jis ka ilaaj woh kar rahi thi. Us ke khawab main woh us shakhs ke zindagi main dakhil ho gayi aur us ke zindagi ke khubsurat pehluon se impress ho gayi. Woh dhire dhire stairs par chal rahi thi, khud ko is high society se kharij mahsus karti hui. Lekin jab us ne dekha keh woh shakhs apni zindagi ka maza le raha hai toh woh us par khush hui aur muskurane lagi. Phir us ne swimming pool ke kareeb high society ke logon ko dekh kar gussa kya, lekin woh apne gusse ko chhupane ke liye glass ko majbooti se pakadti rahi kyun keh woh sharmeeli (introvert) hai. Lekin jald hi us ne us shakhs ko dekha aur khush hui keh woh iss society ke logon ki tarha nahi hai. Us ke khawab main woh us ke dost ya partner ban kar khud ko dekhti hai, jis ke saath woh khul ke baat kar raha hai aur tasveerein bana raha hai. Iss se us ka gussa khatam ho gaya aur woh glass ko aaram se apne anguthe se pakarne lagi. Jab us ne us shakhs ke zindagi ka gehra hissa dekhna shuru kya, toh us ne apni chal ko dhimi kar diya aur us ke kamre main dakhil ho gayi. Wahan us ne us ke nashay leta dekh kar us se khafa ho gayi aur woh glass toot kar gir gaya, jis se us ka gussa phoot kar bahir nikal aaya. Phir woh kamre se bahir nikal kar, bhaagti hui us ke ghar se bahir nikli. Woh iss khayali duniya main apni pehli raftaar se zyada tez bhagti hui nikli thi, kyun keh us ne mehsoos kya keh glamour ki duniya main dakhil ho kar us ne ghalat fehmi ki hai. Woh sandal jo us ne seeriyoon par chhod diya, us ka zikar iss baat ko batata hai keh us ne nazar-fareb (glamour) ki duniya se jo kuch hasil kya, us se us ko nafrat hai. Woh haqeeqat main wapas aa gayi, auto se utar kar sandal sahi karte hue hopital main aati hai. Us ko mehsoos hua keh woh apne khawab main chhoda hua sandal pehen kar haqeeqat main aa gayi hai. Us ne mareez ko kaha keh kabhi kabhi be wajah bechain ho jatay hain aur phir us ne mareez ke kamre se bahir nikal kar bahir aa gayi
English Translation: O' my lover tell me where you spent the night My heart brims with explanations (none console me, I worry for you) On the roof (kotha), in the room on the roof (kothra) my love, (where she waits for him) On the roof are vegetables left to dry and wither I stayed awake many nights (on the roof) measuring the distance of separation between us (I too have withered) On the roof (kotha), in the room on the roof (kothra) my love, (where she waits for him) On the roof a crow (raven) caws I will become a fish (only) for you and you can be a crane, dive and devour me (But there are only crows here. I worry for you, no explanation consoles me)
Faisal Majeed bhai I am a Punjabi I loved his voice but main problem is I don't understand this🙈 Please ask any of your elders because this type of punjabi is not spoken in India and please tell the meaning line by line thanks a ton for the overview translation of this song.
This song reminds me of this person I had once loved so dearly. I don't miss him, I don't want him back. Nevertheless, this song brings back memories of the evenings spent in a certain Bombay apartment, waiting for him to come back home from work. We had fallen out of love, I think, but something kept us holding on to each other. Perhaps hope, perhaps habit. Perhaps just the fear of being lonely in a very uncertain world. I wish him well, and I hope he finds love again :)
I am a Bengali & although I don't understand the language in which the song is written. I was listening to this at midnight, feeling very lonely & I sent this song to someone saying "I miss you". Later I found out this song actually says the same. Music has no language barrier, it's from one heart to another.
while she entering the hall, her shoe was a heel which represents fascination and extreme desire to view his world, the it turns out to be a flat represents she getting comfortable with her desire ,while she running away from the hall , she left her shoes in the middle of the stair which has partition which represent that she is now attached and she is running away from mixed feelings of the negative and positive side of his world . m also a bangali... : -)
I met her in the busy campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), I remember the exact date, it was Feb 17, 2019. It was a sunny afternoon of winters, and I had just finished attending a lecture on Communicative English. As I was going towards the canteen, I noticed a girl sitting alone on a bench, intensly focused in a book. Her aura was different. These are not just words, honestly when I saw her my heart skipped a beat, I was unable to move, dumbstruck, I was drawn towards her instantly. I gathered the courage to approach her and start up a conversation. She had a breath taking smile that could brighten up the darkest of days. I walked and stood in front of her, my mind went blank, unable to speak a word. She looked up and noded her head as if she was asking who I was. I coudn't speak a single word out of my mouth, at last she broke the silence, "What"? I asked her "can I sit here"? she looked around as there were many empty benches, she smiled and got my intention that I was trying to talk with her, She said "Theek hai beth jaao" with a smile on her face, I felt sweat on my forehead in those breezing cold days. We somehow started to talk casually. We found common interests in literature, philosophy, and the pursuit of knowledge. Our conversations flowed effortlessly, as if we had known each other for ages. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. We both became inseparable. We explored the depths of the library together, debating ideologies and challenging each other's perspectives. We would spend evenings strolling through the lush green campus, lost in deep conversations and laughter. She used to share each and everything with me, even things related to her family, she was from Jaipur, she was the only child of her parents. She told me her parents don't want her to stay here in a different city and wanted her to study in her city staying in Jaipur. Our bond grew stronger with time, we both knew that we were falling in love. We cherished the little moments, the stolen glances, and the gentle touch of our hands. We celebrated each other's successes and provided support during moments of failure. She had become an irreplaceable part of my life. We were together for around a year, I can't explain how I used to feel whenever I was with her, I can't even explain my feelings and emotions for her, what she meant for me. I shared some of the best moments of my life with her. But as fate would have it, her parents were not allowing her anymore to study there for her masters, they want her to study in her hometown. It was a bittersweet moment as we realized that our time together was coming to an end. I broke into tears when I got to know this, when I went to see her off at the New Delhi Jn. for a last goodbye, that was worst day of my life till now, my body got numbed, my throat like something stucked, I coudn't even speak to her. She was in tears too. She tried to reassure me that our love could fight the test of distance, but things changed once she started her new college. The demands of her coursework and the new environment consumed her attention, gradually causing a shift in her priorities. The phone calls became less frequent, the messages shorter, I was left confused wondering what went wrong. The girl who once held my heart seemed distant and indifferent. It was painful to witness the person I loved slipping away, seemingly out of reach. As time passed, her detachment grew more. She became very busy in her new life, making new friends and pursuing different interests. The girl who once shared every detail of her day with me now started to ignore me. I talked her about the changes I observed, seeking an explanation for her sudden transformation. After asking several times, she confessed that her priorities had shifted, and she no longer feel the same way about our relationship. Her academic pursuits and the new experiences she encountered had transformed her into a person I no longer recognized. Time, they say, heals all wounds. As I look back on my days at JNU, I am grateful for the love I experienced and the lessons I learned. She may have left my life, but she left a mark on my heart. She was the girl who reminded me that sometimes, even the most beautiful chapters have an end. And while our love story may not have had the fairytale ending I had hoped for, I cherish the memories it brought into my life. Some slow music, thinking about her, the memories we shared, flashbacks, all this is my daily favourite routine till now. We don't talk talk anymore but she still has my heart, no matter how much time is passed or wherever we are in our lives, no other girl will have the same place as she have in my heart. Life moves on, and so must I. I carry the essence of that beautiful time with me, forever grateful for the girl I met, who was once something different and very special to me.
Allauddin the voice is horrible? Ayushmann is a good artist but if you think his nasal croon is better than Ali Sethi’s melodious voice then you most definitely don’t know anything about music.
I am a Bengali guy from India and I'm in love with this beautiful Punjabi folk composition which I stumbled upon serendipitously. I listen to this track every night before I sleep. It's true music has no boundaries.
@@ahmedjameelsyed sir, with due respect, this song is very beautiful indeed, but not everything that is beautiful has to feel homely/has to have a bengali essence to it :).
One smart girl from pakistan recommended me to listen to this song...its so nice and i listen to this song almost everyday ...everytime when i play this song i remember her too...such a nice song❤
This song holds a special sentiment in my heart. It's written in the most beautiful language Saraiki, a dialect of Punjabi my grandparents used to speak. They lived in Tibba Qaisrani, Dera Gazi Khan, where the language is still spoken, but migrated to India upon partition. My father continues to speak the language although I dont but everytime i hear it, it somehow takes me to the land and culture that is so close to my heart yet so far! I wish to learn it and in a way connect to my forefathers who inhabited that beautiful land and lived in a culture which was an amalgamation of different, religions, ethnicities, united only by a language, Saraiki! Kudos to Ali Sethi for this beautiful rendition.
Its fascinating how united India and Pakistan still are in traditions, folks, language, etc. Our old rich heritage still unites us. Something the seperation of borders, cheap politics can never destroy. We need such artists. Love from across the border.
Its not just politicians or something like that. Stop oversimplifying things. Read history, religion and geopolitics of the subcontinent, then you will get know how ignorant you are. And the second thing is, you are getting this comfort of listening to this song only because thousands of brave men have sacrificed their lives just to protect our motherland from being run over by a theocratic, religiously fanatic state like Pakistan. Be grateful, don't disrespect their sacrifice.
There is a certain pain, a tinge of loneliness, a scent of love in this rendition of the song. The way it struck the chords of my heart, few songs could do it. I'm glad I have heard this. 💜🌸
Whenever I have to think about things going on in my life, I put my headphones on and listen to Ali Sethi. His voice gives me so much motivation to do better. The best part about him is that he stays away from commercial music and focuses on quality. A big fan of Ali Sethi.
MEANING OF THE SONG He is her patient and she has started liking him. While she's on her way to attend her patient(actor); she puts in her earplugs and starts listening to a song. While coming from her home, she doesn't wear her footwear properly. Now she starts thinking of him and his lavish lifestyle. Now that she's thinking no one is able to see her. While the actor and few other people are getting their pictures clicked she imagines herself next to him in that gorgeous white Saari(my fav part of the song). The guy who jumps in the pool hands over his glass to her. Now that she's part of this image, she realizes they are able to see her and runs away(this is still the scenario in her head). Loose footwear seems to have been left behind but as soon as she reaches, the songs over so is her imagination. She gets down, fixes the footwear and comes to see him. this is a beautiful video and Ali Sethi's voice is just so soulful. The song is mostly about betrayal (Where did you spend your night, my beloved?)but the video shows a different perspective where our protagonist is shown to have spent her night imagining things which are not possible. It's just amazing! :) SOURCE: A Comment from a blog from chatofworld.com
“Chan Kithan” and “Chandni Raat” are truly mesmerizing, each striking a deep chord in the soul. Thank you, Ali Sethi, for creating such timeless masterpieces. Love from INDIA !!
Ali sethi is one of the most underrated artists. He's a gem in our music industry. His songs are a pure class. I hope you'll keep this reality in your music. God bless you!!
This song is so close to my heart.. Bcoz I fall for my girl when I saw her reel on insta on this song first time..she was absolutely looking amazing there...and after that this journey of falling in love with her never stops...it's increasing every moment after moment ❤
For me, this song signifies the suffering of the human condition, in general. How our minds spend time chasing empty desires, but our home/peace/god is always waiting for us right here. And when we reach, it asks us 'chan kithan guzaari aayi raat ve?'
The guy ( celebrity) is her patient. And he is going to discharge from hospital very soon. she leaves for hospital she listen a song and starts dreaming of his lifestyle. first she finds beautiful parts of his lifestyle And assuming while taking photographs. She then finds the darker side of his world and leaves. The sandal is left behind but when she gets off the auto it's there. WHICH means she visited his world in imaginary. she comes back from thinking and goes to hospital as a usual nurse .. Best video, song 😍😍😍 Edit: Thank you all guys for so many likes and good replies on my comment 🤗
Hey, Ali! You connect with the soul with your voice. You are a treasure to the world. How can you so easily make anyone go through a world they have never been, but seems they have never left it either.Keep healing the world with your voice,I am a doctor but you seem to be a true one.I feel privileged to be in a contemporary world and to have the opportunity to hear you. Love Swati.
Here is the translation for the sake of everyone’s understanding. Basically, its a Punjabi (Seraiki dialect)track and Punjabi songs (tappay, mahiyey, dohrey) are structured in such a way that every alternate verse is written to make rhythm for the following verse which actually holds the meaning whereas the previous verse doesn’t. This is how it goes.. Chann Kithan Guzari ae raat ve.. Medha Jee daleela’n de vaat ve.. My love, where have you spent the whole night, My heart has been reasoning with me about possible reasons for which you might have spent the night out. Kotthray utay kotthra mahi.. Kotthray suk diya tooriyan.. Kaliyan raatan jaag ke assan.. Ginniyan teriyan dooriyan ve.. (In Punjabi, kotha is terrace) There is a terrace over the terrace and on the terrace, the vegetable (tooriyan is plural of tori, a vegetable name in punjabi) is drying on the terrace. I have spent lonely nightsstaying awake and contemplating how far you are from me kothray uttay kotthra mahi.. kotthay betha kaan bhalla.. Mein ban jawan maachli.. Tu baghla ban k aa bhalla.. There is a terrace over the terrace and a crow is sitting on the terrace. May I become a fish and you come in the form of a great white heron and take me with you. Via : Quora - Mian Umar Farooq
@@azmeerraza8760 No it’s not. It’s original wasn’t even Saraiki, that was given recently, the original name is Jatki Punjabi. Educate yourself. It’s a Punjabi dialect.
Forgetting everything else, I think the music is really really good and he has a really mesmerising voice. It pours directly into the scars and fills them. Its so beauteous. LOTS OF LOVE FROM INDIA.
Today I have seen him again after a may be 5 years. He was my childhood darling. He is now a caring husband with a cute Kid and a beautiful wife. I was parking my car, and he was taking out his car, may be towards reaching home. Hope he is matured enough and leading a good life. I was listening this song while coming back to home. No regrets, just penned down my emotions. Sometimes woman also felt emotional turmoil, while hearing all these songs. Love and light.

Its been 15 years of loving someone...who destroyed every bit of me, its only love that makes us fall so hard for people who break us, and rip our souls apart.
True, love is just a myth. In reality there is no such thing as true love. If you find it, then you are one of the luckiest person. If you find it. Then cherish it with your life. Because there are many of us who couldn't achieve it.
@@86nabatat no! Actually he is right ,it was originally sang by surinder kaur and it actully written by a pandit of Multan before partition and she also sang it before partition, so it is a folk music and no issue for any copy write of this beautiful song
So much purity, serenity and calmness one song can give you. Such a beautiful song. Listen to it almost everyday. Everything is so perfect. Love from india😊

While bollywood has lost creativity and is consistently making one remake after the other, this gem brings a breath of fresh air. Such a unique composition. It transports us to the world viewed from the eyes of the girl, which is mysterious and beautiful. Excellent work. Cheers from India.
This song takes you in deepest corners of your soul. simply amazed that something has kept me engaged for so long and still everyday i hear it and love it just the same. thank you Ali Sethi for this. with love from india.
After going through the comments left usually by Indian listeners, I came to a conclusion that those who have Ali Sethi's songs in their recommendations not only have a good taste in music but also have a deeper understanding of literature. Music transcends boundaries like no other form of art. Love from Pakistan to all Ali Sethi listeners in India, Bangladesh and rest of the world ♥️
Breaking of the wine glass signifies her disenchantment with his world. And leaving of sandals is a mark left on him by her simplicity. I guess the two worlds met in thoughts and parted understanding each other and perhaps with a certain longing too...
Best explanation of the video , agreed and loved it.... Every time i listen this song i do come to read this comment of yours summarizing with such a beauty!!! two worlds met in thoughts and parted understanding each other and perhaps with a certain longing too..............

Awesome song, the singer has put in his soul into the song, its very difficult to get such beautiful rendition now a days hatsoff to the singer and the composer...
Such a masterpiece. Mitti di khushbhu hai is song me. I can imagine a woman in a punjabi village , who has spent the night waiting for her husband to return home , sitting beside her mitti ka chulha , and singing this song to herself early morning under the not yet fully bright sky , as enquiry and complain but no one is there to listen. She has set upon her daily routine still singing in the fields collecting fodder for the cattles. "..chan kitthan guzari . . "
KABHI KABHI BILAWAJA BYCHANI HOJATI HAI. This song did just this to me. Shed some sweet bitter tears, felt so relaxed. This is a food for soul, heavenly voice.
When he says kothde uttey kothda mahii..... Feels literally like I'm in Heaven 🤍✨ btw isn't it sound like khilona jan kar mujhko mera dil tod jate ho?! Whatever superb song 💌
I recall playing this song on a road trip with my friends 3 years back, they all made fun of me and changed it in an instant. Now when they listen it on Instagram, it's all gorgeous! Well well, this still has the same place in my heart! ❤️
Ali Sethi is shaping my late 20s memories, I will be listening this one when I am old enough to have a faded recollection of how I used to feel life, when I am alone, wishing to come back to this moment. I will realise that this is it, I had my time and it was beautiful, this song was a part of my life, part of my not so important life, but 'my' life.
Uff yeh song and its visuals, the girl in black robe holding an empty wine glass handed to her by a party goer as he jumps into the pool of hedonism, she then drops the glass disdainfully smashing on the floor not only to distract his 'Prince' but also metaphorically rejecting the way of life he is indulging in, just beautiful,
Hi, this is all abstract. Working as a nurse looking after him she obviously falls for his charms. While traveling to work in a rickshaw , she has a vision dream reality blur fuelled by her intense sub conscious passion for him. She follows him to his life of hedonism riches and self indulgence and wish she was his charm. She runs from his den of opulence rejecting the way of life he is indulging in leaving behind her shoe like Cinderella but not before leaving and indelible mark on his prince charming who leaves the party to go after her. She comes out of the blur of fantasy adjusting her shoe as she alight from rickshaw and changes to her uniform to see his prince charming in a professional capacity ok only to find he is reporting unexplained anxiety which he feels is secondary to side effects of medicine but she gives a vague answer that sometimes it happens for no reason, at this point they are connected in reality as well as fantasy.
I just discovered this song. Totally enchanted by the magical voice and rendition. It is haunting. The line about ..let me become a fish and you eat me up, giving me goosebumps. When the one you love makes you doubt about where they spent the night, you do wish to be devoured rather than lose them.
Respect seriously. Being an Indian , our roots belongs to British India . My grandparents were from Chatwal. Love and respect. No boundaries just respect and love for Hindustan and Pakistan culture.
After allowing gay marriage and extra-marital affairs, there's nothing common left in Indian and Pakistani culture, even day-to-day dressing of a common Indian is non-native.
Poetry of the song is heart touching. It is very hard to express your true love to someone you love more than anything. They never considered you but your oneside love is apart from everything. It is very hard to get true love people are lucky who get it.
Hi from India. Though the original song was about rift between two lovers, probably spouses. But with this video you have given this song a romantic angle, a nurse wanting love of a patient, and now I can't decide if it's a sad or a romantic song. Thanks for doing this. Jokes apart, this is awesome. The music, your voice and the video direction couldn't be better.
I can say this with confidence, that no one will ever, be able to replicate the feel and the vibes that this version of Chan Kithan gives ! This is a masterpiece.
I have been listening to this song for three days, on repeat while at work. Thumbs up from Nepal. I have always been fascinated by Punjabi language - Indian or Pakistani. But I didn't know, classical can touch me so deep.

I had a little female puppy that my dad had rescued and she lived with me. She had canine distemper so she was in a comma kinda state and at nights I would play this song and cry and hug her while looking out of the window knowing that she won't survive. It was an extremely sad and difficult time. She passed away after a few days. Everytime I play this song, it reminds me of her.

On repeat, I dont understand the lyrics, but this is so melodious, so soothing, so peaceful. Why has this not been promoted, only 211k likes, truly unfair! Ali Sethi, you're love bro!!!
The story does make some sense! "Sometimes you feel restless for no reason" When she returned she had both sleepers on her feet which means she wasn't at the party. She was just imagining while listening the music in auto, she likes Mikaal but couldn't express.. glad to see the comment section you guys have great taste in music ❤️❤️
The beauty of writing is that we find and assign our own meanings to the words and expressions. I lost my mother during COVID and as is with all, she was the most selfless and adorable lady in my life (she always will be). When he sang: Kothde utthe kothda maahi Kothe sukhdiyaan toriyaan It reminisced with the ladies (and of course my mother) of Kashmir who dry the vegetables on the terraces and topmost rooms in a home. I was drawn to the childhood where I would cling on to her doing her chores. This brought bright smiles on my face. Then he sang: Kalliyaan raataan jaag ke asaan Giniyaan teriyaan dooriyaan ve And it again shattered my heart into million pieces.

My translation of Story of the Song>>>>
The Girl is a Nurse and The Man ( celebrity) is her patient who is from High Society. And he is in Hospital since few days and
is not getting better. He is going to be discharged from hospital very soon.
One Night She leaves for hospital, she listen a song in Auto and as she closes her eyes she starts dreaming of his lifestyle.
As Auto goes away but the camera has stopped following auto on bridge refers that the girl have moved herself in the dream
of his lifestyle.
She enter his life by entering the door and taking slow steps on the stairs as she is introvert and feels she does not belong to
this high class society.
First she finds beautiful parts of his lifestyle as he enjoys his life and by this she is impressed and to which she smiles.
She is thinking about high class society near Swimming pool where other people of high society comes and acts foolish upon
which she is very much angry as she holds the glass tightly to not to disclose his anger to other people as she is introvert.
However then she sees the man and is happy that he is not like the other people of the society and starts to dream (dream
in a dream) herself as his friend/partner to whom he talks freely while taking photographs.
By this his anger is removed as then she holds the glass softly by her fingers.
Then she starts to go deeper in his lifestyle as she slowed goes in his room. There she then finds the darker side of his world
as she finds him taking drugs which makes him so much angry as she breaks the glass (referred as burst of her angerness)
and leaves the room then his house.
She runs faster compared to slow entry at beginning as she has realized her mistake to enter the glamour world and realized
the darker side which teaches us that we all should do while realizing the darker side of pleasure.
The sandal is left behind on staircase there referring to what she gives to this lifestyle which she doesn't want. My Foot To
This Glamorous Society.
She then Comes back to his real life, as she gets off the Auto and adjust her sandal, and as there she is wearing the same
sandal which she left there while running referring her return to real life taking all of her belonging and not have attachment
to that society and her imaginary world.
She comes back from thinking and then goes to hospital as a usual nurse.
As she says to the man(patient) that sometimes you feel restless for no reason means that she was also restless for no
reason whole time and again leaves his room because doesn't want to get involved with a drug consuming person.

It also highlights the fact that sometimes we get restless for no reason and need to detach ourselves from negative influences to regain clarity."
@shashi3886 Thanks for explaining video of this masterpiece. My version is just the rephrase of the original in better flow of words, so it will be easier to understand.
Ek nurse ki kahani hai jis ka ek mareez hai, jo high society se taluq rakhta hai. Woh hospital main kuch din se admit hai aur beemar nazar aa raha hai. Ek raat nurse kaam se hospital gayi aur raaste main auto main ek gaana sun rahi thi. Jab woh apni aankhein band ki toh woh us shakhs ke khayali duniya main aa gayi, jis ka ilaaj woh kar rahi thi.
Us ke khawab main woh us shakhs ke zindagi main dakhil ho gayi aur us ke zindagi ke khubsurat pehluon se impress ho gayi. Woh dhire dhire stairs par chal rahi thi, khud ko is high society se kharij mahsus karti hui. Lekin jab us ne dekha keh woh shakhs apni zindagi ka maza le raha hai toh woh us par khush hui aur muskurane lagi.
Phir us ne swimming pool ke kareeb high society ke logon ko dekh kar gussa kya, lekin woh apne gusse ko chhupane ke liye glass ko majbooti se pakadti rahi kyun keh woh sharmeeli (introvert) hai. Lekin jald hi us ne us shakhs ko dekha aur khush hui keh woh iss society ke logon ki tarha nahi hai. Us ke khawab main woh us ke dost ya partner ban kar khud ko dekhti hai, jis ke saath woh khul ke baat kar raha hai aur tasveerein bana raha hai. Iss se us ka gussa khatam ho gaya aur woh glass ko aaram se apne anguthe se pakarne lagi.
Jab us ne us shakhs ke zindagi ka gehra hissa dekhna shuru kya, toh us ne apni chal ko dhimi kar diya aur us ke kamre main dakhil ho gayi. Wahan us ne us ke nashay leta dekh kar us se khafa ho gayi aur woh glass toot kar gir gaya, jis se us ka gussa phoot kar bahir nikal aaya. Phir woh kamre se bahir nikal kar, bhaagti hui us ke ghar se bahir nikli. Woh iss khayali duniya main apni pehli raftaar se zyada tez bhagti hui nikli thi, kyun keh us ne mehsoos kya keh glamour ki duniya main dakhil ho kar us ne ghalat fehmi ki hai.
Woh sandal jo us ne seeriyoon par chhod diya, us ka zikar iss baat ko batata hai keh us ne nazar-fareb (glamour) ki duniya se jo kuch hasil kya, us se us ko nafrat hai. Woh haqeeqat main wapas aa gayi, auto se utar kar sandal sahi karte hue hopital main aati hai. Us ko mehsoos hua keh woh apne khawab main chhoda hua sandal pehen kar haqeeqat main aa gayi hai. Us ne mareez ko kaha keh kabhi kabhi be wajah bechain ho jatay hain aur phir us ne mareez ke kamre se bahir nikal kar bahir aa gayi

O' my lover tell me where you spent the night
My heart brims with explanations (none console me, I worry for you)
On the roof (kotha), in the room on the roof (kothra) my love, (where she waits for him)
On the roof are vegetables left to dry and wither
I stayed awake many nights (on the roof) measuring the distance of separation between us (I too have withered)
On the roof (kotha), in the room on the roof (kothra) my love, (where she waits for him)
On the roof a crow (raven) caws
I will become a fish (only) for you and you can be a crane, dive and devour me (But there are only crows here. I worry for you, no explanation consoles me)

💔
and I hope you also find Love Again :)
Girl i wish from the bottom of my heart that you find him or someone else who fils this void that was created when he left your world.
Uff the feels 🥺✨
I wish u do too
I am a Bengali & although I don't understand the language in which the song is written. I was listening to this at midnight, feeling very lonely & I sent this song to someone saying "I miss you". Later I found out this song actually says the same. Music has no language barrier, it's from one heart to another.
communist spotted.
while she entering the hall, her shoe was a heel which represents fascination and extreme desire to view his world, the it turns out to be a flat represents she getting comfortable with her desire ,while she running away from the hall , she left her shoes in the middle of the stair which has partition which represent that she is now attached and she is running away from mixed feelings of the negative and positive side of his world . m also a bangali...
Wow...... beautiful

Exactly. Music is a beautiful bridge connecting us over the garbage that the politicians are desperately trying to throw us into.

MEANING OF THE SONG
He is her patient and she has started liking him.

This song is so beautiful and voice of Ali Sethi is so soothing, no matter how many times you listen to, you can't change it.
I have spent lonely nightsstaying awake and contemplating how far you are from me
kothray uttay kotthra mahi..
kotthay betha kaan bhalla..
Mein ban jawan maachli..
Tu baghla ban k aa bhalla..
There is a terrace over the terrace and a crow is sitting on the terrace. May I become a fish and you come in the form of a great white heron and take me with you.

Its been 15 years of loving someone...who destroyed every bit of me, its only love that makes us fall so hard for people who break us, and rip our souls apart.
So sad for u😢
True, love is just a myth. In reality there is no such thing as true love. If you find it, then you are one of the luckiest person. If you find it. Then cherish it with your life. Because there are many of us who couldn't achieve it.

This song is a true masterpiece of the subcontinent. 'Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara' reflects the beauty and pride of our shared heritage.
Translation of Lyrics in English :

Uff yeh song and its visuals, the girl in black robe holding an empty wine glass handed to her by a party goer as he jumps into the pool of hedonism, she then drops the glass disdainfully smashing on the floor not only to distract his 'Prince' but also metaphorically rejecting the way of life he is indulging in, just beautiful,
Striking explaination
Nice interpretation
Can u please explain it's ending.. I didn't get it
Hi, this is all abstract.
Thanks
I just discovered this song. Totally enchanted by the magical voice and rendition. It is haunting. The line about ..let me become a fish and you eat me up, giving me goosebumps. When the one you love makes you doubt about where they spent the night, you do wish to be devoured rather than lose them.

The beauty of writing is that we find and assign our own meanings to the words and expressions. I lost my mother during COVID and as is with all, she was the most selfless and adorable lady in my life (she always will be).
When he sang:
Kothde utthe kothda maahi
Kothe sukhdiyaan toriyaan
It reminisced with the ladies (and of course my mother) of Kashmir who dry the vegetables on the terraces and topmost rooms in a home. I was drawn to the childhood where I would cling on to her doing her chores. This brought bright smiles on my face.
Then he sang:
Kalliyaan raataan jaag ke asaan
Giniyaan teriyaan dooriyaan ve
And it again shattered my heart into million pieces.
Allah tala karinas magfirat
