    I have a meaco dehumidifier and fan and wholeheartedly endorse everything she said. I can hang a 10KG load on the airer in our 18 by 20 feet unheated spare bedroom and the laundry dries thoroughly in 2 to 3 hours!

    I can 100% recommend this brand. They answered my queries in a timely fashion and gave advice regarding which machine was best suited for my home.
    I live in an old house and it has the original sash windows. Condensation was a nightmare. After purchasing my dehumidifier, my windows are clear.
    I can also confirm that laundry does dry very quickly and efficiently.

    We have a Meaco Arete 20l.We have an ensuite off the bedroom so the actual Bathroom
    does not get used very much.We put all the laundry in there and put the Meaco on.Ours is on clothes rack and i would say from damp to dry it takes about 4-5 hours.Not expensive to run but like the fan idea.Might give that a try.

    That’s a pretty nifty idea 🤔💡 I’ve literally just ordered myself a Dehumidifier this morning after never ever owning one. But I noticed only the other day black mould returning around a window and mould on a desk table top. My home has solid concrete floors and solid concrete walls which is not helpful.

    We've got one of those meaco fans, they're the bomb. So, so good, and really very quiet on low settings. One other weird tip- if you warm the room up while you're doing this, the clothes dry much quicker. Dehumidifiers work faster at higher temperatures. If you can get the room to 25C it's really good. 30C is the probably ideal, but anything over 20C is OK.

      If the temp in my apartment is 17 degrees, would this be why my dehumidifier is struggling to get below 65% humidity?

    • @BooBaddyBig
      @BooBaddyBig 8 місяців тому +1

      @@michaelohagan6668 Probably. The refrigerant type dehumidifiers work badly as the temperature gets down to about 16. Run it with a fan heater or the heating system on for a few hours and see if that helps. Dessicant dehumidifiers work much better at low temperatures, but they effectively have a few hundred watts of built-in fan heater so they kind of cheat.

      The key things to work through to speed up drying are;
      Keep the laundry room dry at all times, Leave the dehumidifier in the room running set to 50%rh between loads.
      Give the clothes an extra spin in the washing machine to remove excess water.
      Get the dehumidifier so that the air hits the clothes, it is the movement of air over the clothes that really speeds up the drying process.
      Don't overload the air drier with clothes lying on top of each other.
      Using a fan and having the air from this hitting the clothes as well will reduce times further.
      Do all of the above in a small room to reduce the air volume being dried.
      Hope this helps.

      @chrismichaelmeacouklimited4004 4 місяці тому +1

      @@HatingWontDoIt The best way to dry laundry quickly and cheaply.
      Dry laundry in as small a room as possible.
      Maintain the relative humidity in that room around 50%rh inbetween loads, so that when you come to dry a load of washing you are not starting from a high relative humidity.
      Put the washing machine through an extra spin so that the clothes come out as dry as possible.
      Don't overload you air dryer, make sure that the small clothes are at the bottom and the large at the top. Don't lay clothes on top of each other.
      Run the dehumidifier next to the airer on Laundry mode.
      Keep the door closed to the room that you are drying the clothes in.
      This will give you a drying time of around 3-4 hours.
      You can reduce this by using a fan as well.
      Blow the air from the fan onto the clothes, this airflow will half the drying time.

    If I created a tent and put the dehumidifier in it with my rack of damp clothes would it work faster. Would I still need the fan?

    • @MeacoUK
      @MeacoUK  8 місяців тому +1

      The smaller the air volume the faster the clothes dry. But the important thing is to hit the clothes with moving air as this forces the sticky water molecules out of the clothes. This is why putting clothes out on a windy day sees them dry faster than if you put them out on a still day. The fan is key to dry clothes quickly and cheaply here.

  • @vadar03

    I notice how forth coming you were to state the fan was circa 1p a day running costs, but didn't mention how much the dehumidifier would be. How much would the Areto One roughly cost per 24hr day to run ? Given we are all here looking at the dehumidifier & not the fan, this would be handy & obviously informative to help decide on purchase.

      It depends almost entirely on how much humidity you're making in the dwelling and a bit to do with how well sealed it is. You might be looking at ~1kWh per day, several times that, a fraction of that, or none. These devices kick in and out depending on what you do with them, how you set them, and what else you do.

      I have the Meaco 25 litre, which is a much larger capacity machine. I’d estimate that if, like me, you leave it running constantly, it will cost around £30 a month. That sounds a lot, but bare in mind, it will eliminate damp amd mould, dry your laundry gently and efficiently, and as all other electric amd electronic appliances will operate more efficiently in a dryer environment, it pays for itself.😊

      A variant figure dependent on the level of humidity and fan speed, also what the electricity cost is where you live, visit the product of interest and check against the extraction rate data to give you an idea of how much wattage is used in what conditions to then be able to figure out an approximate cost.
      Thanks.
