Gillian Anderson's portrayal in The Crown is slower and her speech is more stressful than the original one.
Yeah i felt that. I remembered the portrayal of her by Meryl Streep and it wasn't as dull as of "the crown" so i came here to check
Gillain made her look like imbecile.
I agree it was too slow man
Gillian makes her sound more raspy but the undercurrent of contempt is still there
I came here to watch because I hate her voice (in the serie).
Gillian did a good job but the voice still sounds like she's been a hard smoker for over 30 years...
Who else is here from ‘The Crown’ 😀 Netflix did not do justice to her though. She sounds much more confident and intelligent in real life 😀
exactly, personally I didn't like this season at all. not the script nor the actors
first two seasons were wayyy better
I expected a lot more from this season
but it's like I'm the only one
I think the crown's actress did a great job.
Hollywood would of course never be kind to an argent capitalist like Thatcher.
OOOOO...... SHE WASN´T SMART AT ALL.
@@Mrcaffinebean facts. Their game is so tired yet millions of airheads soak it up and believe the dramas to be factual history
The writers of The Crown must have hated Thatcher because this lady in this video is confident, firm and speaks loudly. The Crown made her look pathetic and weak.
And old, no energy at all!
well she was awful and that is all that matters
@@MrJessicajams how so?
Watch The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep as her, it's much more accurate.
@@91clarie Meryl streep?? YUCK
She is a lot stiffer in The Crown, as if she cannot turn her neck.
Lol about the neck 😂😂
I guess you could say the lady's not for turning
oh so she didn't really talk like she was constantly having a stroke
🤣🤣🤣
Tbh I came here to see just that whether she talks the way it is shown in the crown
Grow up Zack, Mrs Thatcher was the type of leader that took the decisions no matter how unpopular. She was nothing like today's leaders who dodge the questions.
Look at Rishi Sunak today, would he say "The medicine is harsh, but the patient requires it in order to live"?
Thatcher was in a totally different league to what we have today.
@@ep1929 You don't watch The Crown, do you?
@@ZackHarold I do watch it, but I'm only up to Harold Wilson getting into power at moment.
I believe Thatcher's "medicine" chat is in the crown, but I learned of her "medicine" chat back in the early 1990s - it's stuck with me ever since.
Gillian made her sound like Gandalf.
I am looking the quote that she said "I love argument, I love debate. I don’t expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me, that’s not their job." It ll be appreciate if some knows where I can find that record.
i don't know what video that would be, but if you haven't yet found it i have an idea. you can search for the quote to find which year/ major event it was said at and then focus on looking for that particular video ( or few videos). should be much easier

Just passing by to hear Thatcher's voice and confirm that Gillian Anderson nailed it in The Crown.
she nailed the speech voice, but did she actually talk like that in conversation
She does sound abit too raspy tho
I feel like Gillian overdid it, especially with her pulled forward facial expression. It felt like a SNL comedy impersonation to me 😅
No, she did not
LOL me too✌🏽
Watching just to see how good is Gillian Anderson is a the Crown
Same and she is great
Me too! She plays her brilliantly! Steals the show :)
Me too 😂😂
same
No, Gillian Anderson’s performance is one note. She does not capture Thatcher’s nuances, her occasional twinkly smile, her sense of humour. Gillian Anderson’s performance is a caricature that will appeal to those who already dislike Thatcher often in the basis of knowing very little about what propelled her to power and why she won three general elections.
The crown version was nothing like her. In the crown se seemed like she missed missed about a years sleep. So tired and looked quite pathetic. Thatcher was not like that. Say what you will about her policies but she was fiery and loud. Not hunched over, apologising to everyone.
Truer words were never said;
"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."
Margaret Thatcher
what a stupid quote
Gillian Anderson's portrayal of the Iron Lady is a charicature..
Agreed, I didn’t like her performance at all. Can’t understand the fuss... it was nothing like Thatcher
I think she did well overall. There were a couple of things I would have tweaked - Thatcher did speak a bit quicker and freer most of the time, sometimes slowed down for more effect, she didn’t get the rolling R , and the head tilt got a bit much.
...it’s a fictionalized drama, that’s okay to take some liberties with drawing the characters. It isn’t a documentary.
Gillian speaks too slow and somehow "heavy"???....Thatcher seems more allegro personality...
She has a real soft voice and a warm welcoming face...I don't understand why Gillian Anderson's portrayal of her in The Crown was a strained husky voice with a stern rigid face.
It seems people either like her or hate her. No in-between, me personally although I didn't agree with some of her stands I respect the fact that she had the strength to not worry about offending anyone, unlike today's pathetic lot
First time I was in the UK was in the 1970s and I was shocked, it looked like something out of a Charles Dickens novel. Run-down factories, hardly anything worked and the labor force was often out on strike. It was like the country was stuck in the days of the 19th century industrial revolution. Then came Thatcher and dragged the UK into modernity, she fixed the UK, and not a moment too soon.
Yup. The IMF was knocking at the door back then. Let's not forget that.
she saved this country from the ravages of Socialism. Socialism, a failed ideology which the Socialists will never admit to.
She achieved so much compared to most other Prime Ministers
She probably got more done in a day than most politicians get done in a week
ronki23 yeah no ones ruined as many lives as her
@Well Mann yeh, but most of prime minister ship was amazing.

@@averywho6430 so true
In that last speech at the house of commons in 1990, she was ON FIRE. She stamped over socialism, the bankrupcy euro, the cold war and the labour party.

Best post war PM
utku koksal Yes this is my top 3
1. Maggie Thatcher
2. Clement Attlee
3. Harold Wilson
Wow she's faster n more enthusiastic than shown in the crown
God, Gillian Anderson seemed too tight and distracted in the role. Too frigid, and overdone.
Do you want to see an exact depiction of a regular, ordinary and likely boring human being, or a dramatized depiction of an 'icon', when you watch a historical drama series? Drama series are about impact, otherwise you wouldn't tune in to The Crown, you'd just watch Thatcher speeches floating around UA-cam.
Britain needed her now
May I congratulate the Right Honourable Gentleman on his astute judgment, and reassure him that provisions are being made for a renewed Iron Lady within this Parliamentary term.
I'm not British and I'm too young to remember her when she was alive, I'm just starting to educate myself about her!
Just for my own fun!
Despite it's common to hate her for her deeds I gotta tell you I'm starting to like her!
I didn't know she was a pun-based comedienne!
Ya Gillian Anderson sounds more like she had a stroke vs. how she really sounds
I loved you Maggie! What an inspiration.
Yeah. An inspiration to cowards everywhere. This woman talked a great war - then stabbed her own forces in the back along with the American cowards Haig and Reagan.
We only need to be lucky once you have be lucky every time
Where ignorance is bliss its wise to folly xxxxhead
Waving union jacks whilst selling off the wealth off the nation treason..criminal
My father bought his first home under her government love or hate her she a was a strong woman
So did my grandfather!!
So did my grandparents!
The Crown hates her. Made her sound slow in the head
Agreed
She sounds way more confident here than on the crown...what in the world... the crown actress Talks so slooooooow😂
At first I thought Gillian Anderson did a terrible job because the way that she was speaking was so strange. Then I watched these clips and I thought oh my god she’s doing an amazing job. But seriously, who talks like that?
She changed her voice pitch because she thought she would't be listened to if she had a normal female voice (too bright)
Great speaker! I don't share most the opinions with her as a left-wing. But she showed that women can do anything!
left wing, support immorality
Yes one of the greatest. We need more leaders like her in this times.
Do you think it was "the greatest" leadership when she illegally funnelled money into Northern Ireland to fund paramilitary death squads? How about when she destroyed Britain's manufacturing industry which led to mass unemployment? Her support of capital punishment? 15% interest rates? How about when she abolished the school milk program for children? Was it "great leadership" to institute a poll tax? The damage caused by Thatcher runs so deep, that the world will never heal. The destruction of community and way of ife was total. So much so that a subsequent 13-year Labour Government couldn't even *begin* to countenance introducing policies that would have promoted a return to the historic economic and social structure of the areas Thatcher destroyed. Those areas are still home to the poorest Britons, malnourished, unemployed. Thatcher obliterated their industry while simultaneously pulling the rug out from under them. A gaslighter, a traitor, and the most-hated politician to ever occupy the office of Prime Minister.
Thatcher is a joke and anyone who admires her is a traitor to modern civilization, at best. Only an ignorant psychopath could ever claim she was "the greatest".
You sound like a fringe right-wing boomer. I bet you're awfully fun at parties.
she ruined scotland
torys never change
Well done Maggie we miss you.
1:40 did she say "good night you morons" to the press?? that was funny
Goodnight gentlemen
Her portrayal in the crown is a disaster; the actress overacts and makes her speech to slow. Margaret T was a brilliant women, with mistakes like any politician but an intelectual
hahahahahah brilliant ..........history is there and you still thinks she was brilliant !!!!!!!! hahahaha that say alot of you .
You turn, if you want to!
Well I had to find out more about Margaret Thatcher and I am disappointed that Netflix The Crown did her character worng
watching this makes me realize how poorly her role is portrayed in The Crown, same as Prince Charles....
I agree about prince Charles
She seems awesome.
Mathew Hill She was. Legend.
she wasn't
Funny, she never seemed to mention that she was a woman. And yet she seemed to do ok.
Here here!!
0:10 That opening scene was in *The Conjuring 2!* LOL! When Janet was watching television in her living room!
The portrayal of Mrs. Thatcher in The Crown is highly exaggerated. Almost a parody.
She was strong, she was invincible, she was woman! She roared like the British lion.
Britain has many things, but a Lion??
@@Obetv01 Well the symbol of Great Britain is a lion and lions I believe did exist in Britain tens of thousands of years ago. Britainia, the UK's answer to Uncle Sam has a lion beside her. The symbol of China is a dragon and dragons aren't even real.
Such a fashionista in her own right❤
She was amazingly intelligent and her voice is very good too. The Crown actress is a joke and wants to distort her voice and her accomplishments as PM. Horrible performance of the Crowns actress.
What a BOOM BANG awesome woman was this! Never knew she was so freaking cool. That's from a Belgian... ;)
I was born and bred in her hometown and it is very sad that the people of grantham show such contempt for mrs thatcher..I gre up under margaret and life in britain seemed so much easier then as to what it is now..uk went downhill the moment she left office.
*the woman I admire so much, at least these memories remain*
tory idiot
She would have been proud to see us leave the EU. It took some years but we saw what was right for us.
Came here after watching first episode of The Crown Season 4! ❤️
I'm a non-UK person and curious about her because of the great actress who was playing her.
Great Lady
Gillian Anderson's portrayal in The Crown fails to do her justice. Really. She was actually pretty. And her eyes were smiling.
Im here because of The Crown.
Fantastic leader
I agree, Gilliam Anderson did not do the Iron Lady justice, she made her seem human!
I grew up in the 80s
She was a legend
she killed the most of a non-wartime leader in the uk

Here, Here!
She really was a leader & set a good example & no matter what you thought of her, she certainly showed herself to be a force & she put the trade unions in their rightful place as well!
Yes she did things that were not right like signing the Anglo-Irish Agreement & the Maastricht Treaty & taking away the free milk at school but after all she was human & fallible like us.
Just because of her stand against Europe it was a real shame that her own party turned on her & turfed her out. We need another Prime Minister like her again who stood up for Britain.
I came here to see how accurate Gillian was with her accent. I am speechless. It’s uncanny!!! My goodness!
I have never seen 'The Crown'. I lived through the Thatcher premiership. I do not need to watch a pale imitation of the great lady. Love her or loathe her one cannot deny that she dragged this country up by its bootlaces onto the World stage and made us a force to be reckoned with. Together with Ronald Reagan they forged a partnership for good who made real progress with the Soviet Union under Gorbachev. Today we learn of the passing of her formidable Press Secretary Sir Bernard Ingham who has died at the age of 90. May all those famous names rest in peace.
"this country"
she saved the uk by ruining Scotland
I hope she burns.
God bless you, Maggie
go back to england tory idiot
Apparently I'm not the only one who came to see if Margaret really spoke like *that* lol
Gillian Anderson nailed the tone of Thatcher's personality and talking style, but surely her voice in The Crown looks like she is suffering from Covid induced asthma
Yep the Evil Lady
She is bestest ledy and prime minister
I know, if she were around today, she would have definitly been for Brexit.
Too bad you didn’t bring any of that to anyone
They made bad acting in The Crown. She seems ok and speaking so good
Life is just to love and to be loved 💖 Love alone can Conquer the World.
Wicked woman.
Yes I Think she be PM of UK Mow
She sold off the lifeblood of the country to foreign buyers .Water , Railways, Electricity, Gas .Affordable social housing . She introduced care in the community and threw the most vulnerable to the wolves .
A total dereliction of duty and responsibility. The woman was a menace . We are all paying for her actions now. Look around you .
On the positive side she was a good orator. But actions speak louder than words .
Trump pretty much revived that strong leadership since Thatcher.
Didn't watch yet, but knowing Wallstreet Journal it's probably taken out of context
No justice was done to Margaret Thatcher's character !!
On the crown that is.
Leadership is
The mission.
The video sound is pretty good, beyond my imagination
And she was right, it was sailing away to reposition for a pincer movement on the fleet.
I hated Thatcher but at the same time I'm fascinated by her also.
I have the same feeling. My parents despised her but I feel admiration.
GOOD SPEECH.
No one in Government today can put points across like Margaret Thatcher.🇬🇧
Who’s here after The Crown?
Wow, even Gillian Anderson’s voice sounds like Thatcher’s.
Is it wrong to admire her a little even though I’m a leftie?!
A strong willed woman in a man's world. That alone is something to admire.
Inspirational
Strange that they jump straight from 1982 to 1990!
Great President, great woman. We miss you Mrs President, we need more leaders like you these days.
Prime Minister
I agree with Maggie on everything.
Thatcher the milk snatcher stopped my silver top bottle of milk half a pint with a blue straw at school
After watching this it is clear Anderson failed.
When a powerful lie The people are behind?

Rule Britannia.
*BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES*
Shes taller. And bigger. Carried a more charismatic confidence persona in real life.
Gillian is petite. Her potrayal makes Thatcher seems frail and sickly.
You people nailed with Emma Corrin Diana, but cant find someone else who fit more as Thatcher?
Although, merit to Gillian for her interpretation of the Prime Minister. Thts not easy to do.
Such an amazing woman and leader. Along with his idiological soulmate Ronald Reagan, she did the best for her people, her region and our world!
The greatest gaslighter in modern history. April 8, 2013 was a glorious day at the Ritz.
Thicko
Amazing woman and leader……I hated the way her character was represented in the series ‘The Crown’…….she did sound a bit stuffy when she spoke at times, but the actress who played her sounded ridiculously strangled when she spoke and it was very exaggerated……on purpose, I think.
Live?
she invented the whole woman politician look! somewhere up there lady Thatcher and sir Churchill are dancing in truimph.
She was great a very strong lady
It certianly takes strength eliminate school milk programs for children, and to funnel money to illegal paramilitary death squads in Ireland. At least she was able to destroy the UK's manufacturing industry, leaving generations of Britons without job opportunities (and their children without milk at school). I'd advise avoiding the northern part of the U.K., as the effects can still be seen today. Thatcher horrifies me.
"The country we are so proud to be a part of"
how times have changed, she'd die if she saw whats happened to England
