    I reside in UK, my Z8 was affected and I booked it in and sent it off after Nikon sent me info to submit as parts were in stock. It took 7days from sending to being returned. Well done for a speedy fix.

    Mine’s affected but totally fine with all lenses. So my approach might be to wait out the initial wave, and send it in later. Late fall or early winter. But you raise some good points here, so maybe i’ll just get it over with.

    That’s unfortunate, however, it sounds like Nikon is taking full responsibility which is great. Hopefully you receive your camera back quickly. Take care!

    Mine is early SN and affected. Have not had any issues but rather err on the side of caution so sent it in. It may have never had a problem, the advisory said in rare cases, pops to Nikon for stepping up and addressing it. Not worried

    Thanks for the update, very much appreciated.
    I checked mine and Your camera is unaffected. Repair not necessary.
    I think Nikon has always been very professional and informed their customers with any issues,
    of their cameras over the years.
    I don’t know if you remember there was an issue with the Z9, a while back of a batch,
    mine was unaffected, also then. Thankfully.
    Regards Nigel Rand - Nikon Pro UK.
    PS. I don't know your first name, I have been watching only for a short while,
    but luv, your channel content.

      Hi Nigel - I'm Dave. Luckily for me too, both of my Z9s were unaffected by the issue for it. I didn't fare as well with the Z8 - but hopefully it will be a fast turnaround.

      @@KnightsandWeekends Hi Dave,
      I don't know about the USA or Canada,
      But Nikon Europe - UK normally quite good, less than two weeks for repairs and upgrades.
      Remember the Nikon Z6 Upgrade for High Quality format video, which you had to pay for then. lol.

      Only thing I've found the Z8 gets very warm if you use the,
      menu display for long periods of time, and the battery gets hot too.
      Found ProGrade CF express cards for video get Hot CARD Warning after,
      28 minutes, but still keeps going to record video.
      I have 1TB Angelbird CF express card, in tests by (others) runs at lower temperatures.
      yet to try this in my Z8.
      Thinking about this, its not the camera, more the Brand of card you use is affecting the temperature of the camera over long period of time.
      My Nikon Z9, goes on for up to 7 hours 4K 10bit video clips NO overheating at all,
      on the 1TB Angelbird CF express card.
      I know the Z9, is better for heat loss because of it's size.

    We did test a bunch of Z8 USA serial numbers and it appears most Z8’s with USA serial number 3000250-3010000 are effected and need repair. When we tested serial number 3010986…it was not effected. However every other serial number under that 10,000 were effected. However obviously we didn’t test every single number, so we don’t know for sure if it’s this simple. It’s possible there are some in that range, which don’t need service, but we can’t prove that. If you can and or if you test yourself and your copy is in that range, but is fine…please post a screenshot to prove it.

      Same here, the previous page says we need to select Z9, but there was Z6 and Z7, so selected Z7. I suppose that’s only needed to estimate the weight of the package, so it should be OK

      You’re far from alone. It seems about the first 10,000 or so copies for the USA market are effected. We tested Z8 USA serial numbers and we found between 3000250-3010986 were effected. However we couldn’t test every serial number, so it’s possible it’s not all of them in that range. However we tested a lot of numbers and all in that range were effected. Once we got above about 3010000 or 10,000 units we found they were okay. For whatever this is worth lol.

    Very bad advice. If your 105mm lens locks into place properly then go ahead an do your planed shoot. When and if you get a lens where you have the problem that's the time to send it in. You may never have the problem,

    • @KnightsandWeekends
      @KnightsandWeekends  Рік тому +4

      I'm sorry - it appears that instead of "I disagree and would go a different route", you opted to claim this was "very bad advice". "Very bad"... really? Like encouraging children to smoke? I stand by my advice, however horrific it may seem to you. Finding out that you can't mount a specific lens at the moment you need it most - perhaps on an assignment - is maybe not the best advice either.

    • @johnleftwich627
      @johnleftwich627 Рік тому

      Don’t lnow what advising children to smoke has to do with it but if you are a professional then you have backup gear. Sending something in for repair that probably doesn’t need it is just silly and will lead to backlog at the tepair center.

      @@dyldau I agree, I don't think it's bad advice. It may not be what you wanna do, for whatever reason. I won't send mine back, for example, but it's not because I think it's bad advice -- my current circumstances simply won't allow me to send mine back. The issue seems to involve the older DSLR lenses, the Z lenses seem to be ok, so I'm not too worried. But sending something back for repair doesn't seem like bad advice to me.
