These pictures are so fascinating they really ought to each be on the screen for a lot longer so we can study them properly. The maroon Warship arriving at Exeter St David's in the rain is particularly atmospheric
a great collection of rare colour images from that era - and the music is just perfect! Oh I wish I had my own memories of the transition period, but I start with the Rail Blue of the 70s. Thanks for putting this together and posting.
I listened without the music, but found the photos clips fantastic. Some really rare and unusual locos and some wonderful moments in time captured for our enjoyment. Thanks for the video.
just subed to your channel spent an afternoon pure nostalgia excellent quality I used to live sight and sound of the gwr main line at burnham and remember the prototype diesals coming through downside I remember lots of steamers being dragged to wales to be scrapped look forward to more vids thanks for sharing.
What an excellent set of pictures! The Class 37 with the Brake Tender is I think photographed at Thornaby station? These need to be in a book! For the record the music ain't too bad either - its the sort of thing James Last might have done.
@@agdenyer if you mean the one at the 2:04 mark the you're both wrong its Middlesbrough. The signal box is Dock Hill.which controlled the trains on the goods lines that still run on the noth side of Middlesbrough station. It's the same signal box that the Class 27 (D5372) is passing. Hartlepool didn't have a box like this.
I realise we may have built some lemons, but let's be honest we Built some bloody good locomotives that are still in use as they are far better than the foreign crap we have now.
Yes I believe it is a Class 21. The number fits in with the Class 21 number pattern. D6100-D6157. Class 22's and 29's do look similiar though so I decided to check the number listing first to confirm if it was a class 21 :)
A great series of photographs of some wonderful green machines.
The best diesels we have with us to this day are from 1960-1970

Anyone who witnessed those great days of early diesels, will absolutely love the music, due to the nostalgia its linked too.
Absolutely brilliant, and a perfect choice of music! Well done and thankyou!
Lovely selection of photos 👌
Lovely look at the past there... I like the way you ended where it all began with the LMS diesel

What a wonderful 60´s review making me feel so melancholic...
Turn back the clock? I cannot disagree.
This is what intrigued me as a Young boy while my dad was stationed there. That and Dr. Who. Lol
Wow some real rarities at the end there, Kestrel, Falcon and even 10001 (it's sister loco 10000 was originally an LMS loco!)
Excellent photos and appropriate music - The way we were. Green livery the best.
excellent pictures
these trains were never thought of as trains when the steam trains died out but now there loved all over the world as icons of brutal diesel power
brought a tear to my eye , an old git thank you

Perfect production in every sense. Thanks and well done!
Some interesting photos there, really good.

Great selection of photos. Quite a lot taken at Boxmoor station; nice to put Hemel on the record!

The location of the brake tender was West Hartlepool dated 22-08-1966. The loco was D6777. Glad you enjoyed the video

Great 👍

Nice video. 1.52 is that a class 21?
slide shows are OK, but not when you inexplicably try to keep the beat of he music and the frame changes in a split second.
My favourite eara.

Class 22s were much shorter than the 21/29s
I liked this load's!
I saw a picture recently of Kestrel derelict in Russia. Hadn't moved in years she was surrounded by bushes. I heard she'd been scrapped.
What's the idea of that open air structure at 0:12 to 0:16?
Great pics, thanks for sharing, tho music was annoying !!!!
Gordon:oh idingnity
Human driven. An old story.
Dunfermline lower at 2.30 mins
Trains!
Just think we had a Labour Party that actually cared about the working class then....🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
OK, a little bit over dramatic, with the sound track, and the name of the song, but I absolutely loved the photos.
Great pictures.......bloody awful music.
