💥💥💥A1 Evo Neuron preview 2.1 'Rise of The Commish' (last upload on 03 Feb 2025 08:40 CET)💥💥💥 All reported bugs and issues have been fixed with Neuron and odd.wtf in p2.1 See update log for details. OCA
Thx for your work! Neuron is leveling my subs way too high. +12 and +11. I have Monolith 15 and I had to switch back the levels at least -8db. Otherwise while watching Top Gun2 the Subs are ripping my house apart. Was never so high. I used an Umik 1 and made the sweeps by manual.
And there is another bug in the script which causes a freeze. When I use custom speaker setting and disable the amps for front and center, because I use only preamp section, then the script freezes. I am using an Denon 8500 ha.
Hello OCA, one thing is unclear to me. I test LFE+MAIN on/off but always get a message: 17:14:20 [IMPORTANT] Optimized 'LPF for LFE' frequency for bass management: 250Hz And its strange because my mains can play lower than 35hz. After I upload my config to AVR, subb out is still only LFE. Should I manually set subb out to LFE+MAIN on freq. 250hz? Or when I upload the config, all will be set automatically. Because also my mains are crossed on 120hz, and all others on 60hz .. :) Maybe a quick summary at the end of the script will help also to others understand what should be done manually and what should not. Thanks.

Mighty. Absolutely mighty. I always had problems with my L-Shape room and the bass, you probably know that. But this time... man... your solution became...THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION. I thought, when I am able to buy a MultEQ-X license for 200€, why not paying the same for the best thing that happened to my home cinema... EVER. Thanks man!
Great work! I am beyond grateful for this script, it raises my nerdy enjoyment of movies quite a lot. I have the itch to watch so many just to hear more. I'm so giddy having access to allpass filters! Since Neuron 1.1, my center has cleared up remarkably. Another good side effect is that I can raise the volume in a large range and it never sounds uncomfortable, just more dynamic and realistic. Since 1.4, the spatial accuracy is much improved, something I've never experienced that strong before. The automatic inversion does this apparently. The system plays well with my 3 subs EQd with a miniDSP.
Awesome work, it's a huge difference between this and everything else until now, Nexus, A1 Evo , this is clearly superior ! It's out of this world ! I never heard my sistem work like this until Neuron , and I tried all your variants until now ! Thanks! Really appreciate what you do for us ! Is nice , you measure once and then when you upgrade , you just run it again , if you already have the measurements !
You are a evolution to the audyssey world. They should hire you, and pay you good! I can't use the script because of MultiEQ without XT. But you are still a Gamechanger for the Community. Thanks Santa!
OCA Thank you for your time and generosity. Your free scripts are doing something that the over priced commercial products like Audyssey and Dirac can only dream of IMHO!. Many blessings to you and much success in all you do.
Dear Serkan, You are an unusual angel on Internet. Thank you so much. I really love contributing to such a great human like you. I am still playing with the Neuron. First time I am enjoying the real immersive experience after 2 years of building my home theater. I almost reached what I wanted with my build. Thanks a lot.. Thank you so much and God Bless! With love and regards, Logi
@ Thank you so much and my dual sub sound amazing. I am waiting and for another one month I will be refreshing your google drive to see any updates. Thanks again.
Thanks! This is a pittance compared to the enormous value you have added to my equipment and listening pleasure. Really appreciate your work and your extraordinary talent.
Thanks for automating something I’d never have the time or patience to figure out myself. Through various iterations of the script I have no desire to try out any of the other pricey software options. Much appreciated.
Hello Serkan, Thank you for all your work and effort that you put in every time to develop such a great program like A1 Neuron. It's really fun to watch films and listen to music with it. It sounds really good in my living room cinema. Unfortunately, I'm a Mac user and had to do a lot to be able to use it properly on my Mac. But it worked with Windows 11Pro via Parallels. Thank you very much and I'm excited to see what else you come up with. Best wishes from northern Germany Uwe
Vielen herzlichen Dank für deine großzügige Unterstützung! Es freut mich sehr zu hören, dass die Einstellungen bei dir funktionieren und du jetzt noch mehr Freude am Filmeschauen hast. Dein Feedback bedeutet mir sehr viel!
Thank you for your effort. You have drastically improved my movie experience and sound is at least half of movie experience. I need to play with house curves a little bit more and maybe repeat measurements with rew and more points. I am getting low crossover (60 hz) or high crossover (150hz) for mains, depending on house curve. Low means dip higher than 60hz, higher means localisation of bass. A1 Nexus crossed over my floor standers at 90hz and it seemed great mix with sub. However it still sound much better than Nexus. Also sub extends lower and at higher volume at low end 19-25 hz compared to Nexus. Thank you.
A M A Z I N G !!!! we are in the way to 2025 and you still give us a premium optimization program with updates for free , !!! I think lot of people will buy just Marantz or Denon in order to use this great script , we need to full support the Author of this program and this channel !!!
I am not able to extract the .txt files from my .ady file with the new HTML A1 Evo Neuron. but i was able to extract the .txt files from my .ady file using Audyssey One haha. But now I’ve run into a problem I also had with Audyssey One-I don’t have a subwoofer. With this new script, it seems to get stuck when it looks for a subwoofer. Back then, when I used Audyssey One, I uploaded my file, and you were able to fix it for me. I hope it’s not too much to ask, but is there a way to run the script without using a subwoofer? Thanks in advance!

Amazing results vs. classic Ady files. Audyssey with AVR, which includes a mic, can't compare with this script. I measured manually, via the UMIC-1 mic, day and night. Guys, when you invest more than 1-2K in the home theater, invest a little more for UMIC, donate OCA and REW creators, and move your theater experience on another level. Hope for the future updates, where we can manually set our crossovers, or little more adjustments from our side :)
@@NicholasRobertson-g6c, you need to measure manually via REW. I'm using the original sweeps from OCA. There is no other way; Denon does not have the correct measurements. After that you just run script, with measurements in REW.. script will make a *.oca file, which you can transfer to AVR.
@@Majchel I've been searching and can't find any easy guide to measuring manually using REW. I currently have the microphone that comes with the DENON AVR but before purchasing the UMIC I would like to make sure I know how to use REW with the original OCA sweeps. Do you have any guide that you can share with me on the step by step to follow? (a video would be a ideal). Thank you so much!
@@diegohconde someone delete my previous comment. Then shortly again, all is described in OCA video A1 EVO Nexus part II. You can try use your AVR included mic and use it via PC. Just use calibration file, for that mic. OCA shared also one.
With the Neuron 1.5 calculation (based on MultEQ-X PC Audyssey calibration) I have the best sound I have ever heard in my cinema! Thank you and your team for the excellent work. Wow!!!
Wow I cannot wait to try this! This gets me to thinking that it would be amazing if there could be an industry standard that would allow open source programming of all AVRs. Also would it be possible to automate measurement taking in REW? Thank you so much
Finally got around to doing this. Version 1.5 worked well with my Marantz Cinema 50. Significant improvement in my room versus Nexus. And that’s saying a lot because my room is really small (12ft X 7ft) with 6 foot ceilings 😅. Bass is much tighter now and everything is crystal clear. This Gik bass traps and acoustic panels are paying off! The only weird thing is it set both L and R crossover to 120. Works for me, but wondering why? Center channel is at 60 and it’s the same exact speaker as the L and R (Dali Opticon on-wall). Also it set both subs to +11, which was weird. They are both small Rel TZeros, but not sure why it set them so high. Both subs have the volume set to 75% to begin with. On an unrelated note, why are allpass filters suddenly possible where they were not possible before with Nexus? Why is Audissey calibration not taking advantage of them?
Thank you very much, that's extremely generous and you didn't have to :) Crossover algo selects the frequency that will sound best at the MLP based on the response effected from wall gains and reflections. My identical Focal Domes get 80, 90 and 120 at 3 different locations. Nothing to be worried about it unless it picks something too high which might cause bass to be localized at the sub. Neuron sets the initial sub volume quite generously but uses filters to trim the peaks down. The overall level is always on the target. That's also harmless and provides less dips below target. Unless you get a "volume had to be capped" warning, nothing to worry about with that either. Neuron doesn't use Audyssey to talk to the AVR and unfortunately phase filtering is just another one of the many things they have left on the table.
@ But how is the magic happening? Neuron is somehow tapping directly into the DAC chip to make use of allpass filters? If you have link on the subject, I’d love to learn more about it. I’m a software engineer.
@@Wordsalad69420 FIR filters used by the receiver are in fact impulse responses with phase content but Audyssey was sending just the frequency response content of that and in the past all we could do was to manipulate the frequency response shape of these filters with custom target curves as we were bound by the Editor app and Audyssey to send in the filters. This has changed now and we are no longer using the app. Instead using our own program now to communicate with the receiver and sending filters as they should be.
@ I see, the technology has always been there, but just recently you discovered how to take full advantage of it. The question remains, why doesn’t Audissey do this? Does Dirac Live do it?
Wow!!! Several times over, wow! Wow 1 of course is the amazing new work, thank you so much. Wow 2 is the "ditch that mini" advice you gave regarding a MiniDSP below! Is that universally true? I think my X6700H can only EQ the subs as a single entity, so surely MSO on a MiniDSP would do a better job smoothing out their unique, individual responses? If so, in what order does one do the calibrations? I've been thinking recently of the idea of running A1, blanking out the sub curves, then running MSO? Rather than stacking filters? What would you say is best? Is "ditch the mini" universal advice?
With an 6700 and more than 2 subs you need the MiniDSP otherwise not so much. Neuron can do everything MiniDSP can including individual filters to each sub, delays, trim and allpass filters.
@@ocaudiophile Ah ok, yeah, I was wondering since the one you replied to was a generation newer! So what is the suggested order of operations for 'older hardware' Neuron + MiniDSP, please and thanks! 🙂
My Man of 2024 is Serko , thanks for all of your time for us and so much great Work. Ure amazing ( This is a Genius from another World) Danke dir von ganzem Herzen ❤
Thanks for posting this major update! I had one issue where my center channel crossover was set to 200hz. I looked at the log file and I didnt see anything stand out for this. Is it ok to just change it back to 80hz like it was with Nexxus?
Firstly thank you for your generous donation. You didn't have to. Did you check the scores of C with other frequencies? Is 80Hz high but simply 200Hz is higher? If algo picks 200Hz, it will have a better frequency response at 200Hz xo compared to 80Hz but bass localization could be a problem especially with C speaker. Manually changing will not work, filter will not match the response. This custom version will set your Center speaker to 80Hz (despite what it may say in the log): drive.google.com/file/d/1lwISMER-EMgPmYV9RNwKRWNcRILBeJvE/view?usp=sharing
@@ocaudiophile Thanks for the detailed response. I will switch back to the suggested output and doing some more listening. I think at this point I should also do a full set of clean measurements based on your other video. Thank you for all the work you put into this. It really makes the measurement process easy to follow and with great results.
Thank you for this. That gets my center sounding correctly again. Is there a way for me to edit the script to do the same thing for the FL and FR speakers?
I want to be honest, even though you made it easy by transferring the calibration using the .bat files directly to the receiver. I personally preferred the old method of A1 Evo, using the .ady file in conjunction with the Audyssey App. Would it be possible to create an HTML for us, where we can simply get an .ady file back?
First of all thank you very much for your hard work. I had great results with the previous versions of A1 Evo. I also tried Neuron with the same .ady file I used before, but ran into some issues this time. I have pretty good towers for FR and FL but for some reason, Neuron sets a frequency crossover to 200Hz for them. It also said that the required subwoofer volume offset level exceeds hardware limits by 59.0dB and is being capped at -12dB. So no surprise that there is basically no bass when transferring the results to the AVR. I'm wondering why thats happening since the measurements were working just fine for the previous versions of A1 Evo. What do I need to change? Thanks for any help in advance
Hi Serkan... Everything worked as a charm and a definte upgrade to the musicality of my HT, the Sub is tight and accurate and sounstage just perfect.. My learnings : 1) If you have the stock Audyssey Mic create the ADY file using Neuron and dont go the manual REW measurements somehow stock mic doesnt work well with REW 2) For me Harmon curve works the best... Thanks again all fearures of Neuron is working perfectly...
@AbhishekSingh bro can you help me with callibration of this Neuron, i am not getting bass at all, i did mic measurements with Audyssey mic and multeq app, i am new to Hometheater did my setup 3months ago and still learning
@@rangedbroom9698 Hi mate, which sweep signal do you use for the SW measurements? In the older folders there were 2 different sweeps. One was with +10 db boost, the other was normal or not boosted. So, try measuring with the one that is not boosted. Or you will end up with lacking bass. At least this was my mistake at that time...

New A1 Evo Neuron Release - Preview v1.4 (30 Dec 2024 23:00 CET) • odd.wtf upgraded to v0.8-8, introducing a new power command to turn the receiver ON and OFF. • Consolidated multiple processes into oddMenu.bat script for easier usage (courtesy of Music_Cat) • Calibration target curve and other user options are now saved in the .oca file. While they can currently be viewed with a JSON editor, they will be displayed during file transfer in the next odd update. • Resolved a bug that caused distance limit issues in certain setups. This fix significantly improves bass response for affected configurations. • If one speaker in a pair is assigned a significantly higher crossover frequency, it will now be adjusted closer to the lower crossover frequency of its pair to avoid bass localization • Recalibrated crossover frequencies for better alignment with filter resolution in MultEQ XT systems • Addressed an issue with the "CH" speaker in Auro 3D setups. • Minor UI improvements • New Options added: o Disable Speaker Inversion: Indicative results without altering polarity. o Force Large Fronts: Allows front speakers to operate in large/full range LFE + Main mode (if they are large enough). Other speakers/pairs will only be evaluated for full range if front mains are set to large This version is free of bugs (for a preview) and I believe represents the potential of the new Neuron! See you next year! OCA @ocaudiophile
Version 1.0 took out all the bass from my system (sub level was set to +1), but version 1.1 takes it out even further and sets it to -9 making it sound very anemic. Merry Christmas!!

HI OCA... the scipt works perfectly without any issues and the outcome is a beautifully balanced sound... not sure if it can be better 😅.. thanks a ton... Yes, using the new target curve... 👍
Thanks OCA, testing it out now. What if we have two calibration files in the transfer folder, which one will be sent to avr? I was surprised the calibration didn’t do lfe + main for me this time.
It picks the most recent one (or the first one in alphabetical order, can't remember), best to move older files elsewhere to be safe. LFE +Main only activates for very large speakers in this one.
@@ocaudiophile okay thanks OCA. I have a question regarding cantering the mic. I am getting a 1m distance when following the procedure in nexus video. Does this mean I need to toe in or toe out my front speakers? Visually looking at the mic placement, it doesn’t look like it is one meter closer to right speaker. Any tips will help
It's incredible experience post changes. Really hats off to you with doable steps, simple explanation, and more importantly offering it for free to the community. Long live you and any other helping hand that you are getting. Little sad that it is showing my single sub value with "+6" making it run hot and my fronts with 200hz crossover. Rest all super good.
Next question - dumb one again - but obviously my Marantz needs to be 'on the same network' as the computer for the script to find the processor and get the .avr file?
Okay... If they are not in the same network, why should your computer connect to the avr at all? You cannot connect to desktop pc at Microsoft also... obviously, I did not get the question. Can you say it in other words? Please tell us which Model you have because only because it is Denon or Marantz it does not work for all models. If you have problems finding the AVR automatically, use the manual way via commandline

Finally - since A1 I struggled with Evo. Didn't have enough time for using my UMIK-1 with Nexus. Tried Neuron - amazing. Still puts +8db on my sub but it actually sounds incredible. Claims several of my speakers were out of phase so want to check wiring (even though it corrects for it). Amazing work OCA!
Unfortunately the upload of the oca file has a problem with my Marantz NR1711 "Error: Your AVR's EQ type is not yet supported for loading .oca files!" Do you have an Idea? The AVR does have MultEQ Support. Is it possible to convert the file to an ADY and transfer it via the MultEQ app?
Wow, this has taken things to the next level. The bass is so much more present than before. And it’s absolutely brilliant that I can now adjust the bass volume myself. Outstanding work! Thank you so much for this powerful update. Once again, you’ve done an amazing job. Wishing you a great start to the new year and sending my best regards from Berlin, Germany 😊.
Should I wait for the next video how to measure or just follow the A1 Evo Nexus video? I am still using the original A1 setup and been out of the loop with these new iterations the past year.
Monumental. The mojo is back, better than ever! Thanks man, never ever sounded better. I bow before your greatness - good work. Feature Request 1) you should say that (when everything else is automatized) if LFE+main is used, that it needs to be configured manually in the AVR. Feature Request 2) would be great if both slots can be used instead the slot1 fixed but just a nice to have. Thanks and greetings to Aaron - the generation and transfer of the file now works with the x4800h.
LFE + Main is automated with Neuron as all other settings but seems to be not working with certain models. Do you have a new model? .oca will be transferred to whichever preset your AVR is in at that moment so if you put in preset 2 before transfer, it will go to preset 2.
Okay that is cool! Why not telling it more obvious - perhaps in the filename „transfer file to current Preset“ or somethikg like that? It’s a cool feature, thanks! I have the current x4800h with current firmware incorporating Dirac Live, Dirac Live Bass Control (Full Range) and xt32.
@@ocaudiophile So be deflault i need to put the AVr to LFE+Main Evo was giving a warning to do so before so Neuron i have to do it no matter the result?
I have a question: When I measured with the Audyssey app, the subwoofer distance was determined to be 3.85m. After I had everything correctly optimized by the A1 Evo system, the new distance is 6.0m. Is that correct? It is important to say that the subwoofer is definitely not 6.0m away from me! The 3.85m was more correct. The other distance values for the other speakers were only changed minimally after optimization.
All my fronts are set at 250hz and it sounds really bad. I think the script is very aggressive. Also it says my side surrounds and one tops as not in phase. With the same curve nexus sounds perfect. Waiting for the updates. Thank you
I am unable to extract the .txt files from my .ady file using the new A1 Evo Neuron script. However, I was able to extract the .txt files using the old Audyssey One script. (Could this issue be because I don’t have a subwoofer?) Now, I’ve run into a problem I also had with Audyssey One at the time-I don’t have a subwoofer. With this new script, it seems to get stuck when it looks for one. Back then, when I used Audyssey One, I uploaded my file, and you were able to fix it for me. Here’s the output I’m seeing: sql Copy code 22:28:20 [IMPORTANT] Speaker FR has correct polarity 22:28:20 [WARNING!] Speaker SLA 'MAY' be out of phase, remember to check its connection! 22:28:21 [WARNING!] Speaker SRA 'MAY' be out of phase, remember to check its connection! 22:28:21 [WARNING!] Speaker C 'MAY' be out of phase, remember to check its connection! 22:28:22 [WARNING!] Speaker FHL 'MAY' be out of phase, remember to check its connection! 22:28:22 [WARNING!] Speaker FHR 'MAY' be out of phase, remember to check its connection! 22:28:23 [WARNING!] Neuron will NOT invert speaker polarities in this preview version! 22:28:23 [INFORMATION] Conducting initial evaluation for 0 subwoofers... I hope it’s not too much to ask, but is there a way to run the script without using a subwoofer? I know a subwoofer is super important, but I live in an apartment and already have big tower speakers. 😅 Also, I’ve recently gotten a couple of new speakers, so the Audyssey One file you sent me a year ago no longer matches my setup. The difference between using just a normal Audyssey MultiEQ and your scripts is insane haha. Thanks in advance!
WOW, Thank you very much, cant wait ot test it! So can i take the ADY file from MultEQ Editor APP like in the EVO Version and run this new script with it? I can't take manual REW measurements, will it be improved?
The new .bat set my front speakers to a more reasonable 90Hz crossover (previously 250Hz) but lowered my surround speakers to an unrealistic 40Hz crossover. However, the final sound in stereo is superb and not artificial as with the first version of the .bat calibration. Small improvements make big differences.
Do not check the distances in the AVR, or it will detect that distances are out of limits (due to the script bypassing the limitations) and adjust them accordingly. It is okay to check it on the web interface though. Just an observation.
Ok NOW we are talking! this v1.3, even though it still chooses 250hz for my front and center crossovers, actually sounds a LOT better than the other versions.
Yes very nice v1.3. But i also have the crossover at 250Hz for my realy big fronts Nubert Nuvero14. my small surrounds have crossover at 60 or 80Hz - so i wonder why the big fronts are crossed already at 250Hz? strange...or is it a positive feature?

Thanks for your great work! The sound is really much better, it sounds warmer. However, I have the problem that the right rear Dolby Atmos speaker (Height2 R) does not make any sounds. What could be the reason? I am using version 1.6.
Thanks for new version of your work! I am happy to work with it but I have to admit that I am quite sad that the secret class makes it much harder so interact with it. In my room I also want to able to change different things like start and endfrequency for example because the bass felt (up to 40 Hz in my configuration) not necessarily needs a cut by the script while the response profits of a higher end frequency of 300, sometimes 350 at max due to my bad room acoustics. Somehow I understand the obsfuction but the clear view up to v1.6 on what happens was something I admired and in my opinion was something great about your work.
I’m sorry if the changes have made customization more challenging-that was never my intention. Unfortunately, due to instances of commercial misuse, I had to implement at least partial protection for my algorithms. On a different note, there’s no real need to EQ beyond the room transition frequency-224 Hz is already too high for that. While higher end frequencies may produce nicer-looking graphs, they won’t actually sound better. One of the three modes in Neuron 2.0 should deliver the best sound in any system. Plus, you now have the flexibility to fine-tune problem speakers by adjusting their distance from walls or using port plugs, guided by the detailed XO tables for further optimization.
@@ocaudiophile Okay, got it and I am on your side. It is really not okay if someone uses these tools for commerical use without agreement. We will live with that :) So, I still have the same issue that most of the time some speakers out of the 11 present speakers are not eq'ed the way I would expect. FL and FR for example are getting sometimes good filters that will lead to a good response and sometimes absolutely nothing is done by the script. Same for center speaker while others get quite complex filter with a good "looking" frequency response. In 1.6 I experimented with the timeout of the script but never had a real clue what the problem is. I have uploaded the avr, ady (I tried automated measurements for the sake of curiosity but the problem is also existent in my manual measurements) and the final filter calculation. If you find the time, perhaps you can have look into it (FL, FR, C) are the most significant while SRA is good example on what I expect what the filter should look like. To adress this issue I experimented with max boost 12 but it is the same problem when using 6 most of the time. It is also independant of the target curve but different calculations and adjustment lead to different speakers which filter does not really look as intended. Best regards and REALLY thanks for this great tool. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KVjegE9AZ3KweRb-_GjUdtL1x7v3kujj
I know what you are talking about. I believe this is a problem with REW auto EQ API...It randomly behaves differently to manual auto EQ and I couldn't yet convince John of the existence of the problem ;) In 2.0, I wrote a specific fetch function solely for "match target" api which waits full 5 seconds to complete auto eq process (hence the slowed progress at the end of the optimization) but it can still leave residuals sometimes although much better than in the case of 1.6. I am sure it will be totally fixed soon. Protip: The problem disappears when boost is 0dB!
I checked your files, you have a small set of speakers I guess and 150Hz seems to be a good common XO for them. I don't see any reason it shouldn't sound good. Also EQ filters seemed quite nicely working. I uploaded a fixed script a few moments ago, older one was not going for "identical xo" mode as default although option buttons showed like it was. So maybe you didn't use that one. All I can say for your system is it will improve a bit if you can move SLA/SRA a bit further away from the walls (or port plug them).
@@ocaudiophile Thanks for looking into it! FL, FR are floorstand speakers and the center is a nuVero 70 - last time I run the script it was 40 Hz overall^^ the ceiling speakers are much smaller than the floor level speakers of course. This may be a thing - because one XO for different heights I would understand because typically the ceiling speakers are much smaller and may negatively impact the overall XO when only one valuie is used (this is the reason I have overwritten the array with my own crossovers in 1.6). When using different XOs, the script for examples currently gives me customXOs of FL+FR 40 Hz, C 90Hz. SBL+SBR 60Hz, SLA+SRA 80Hz, RHL+RHR 120Hz, FHL+FHR 150Hz. I really do not know how one single XO might fit these ;)
Made it to the last step, the transfer of the OCA file. However, like one of the commenters, I got the following error [json.exception.out_of_range.403] key 'distanceInMeters] not found. Out of curiosity I opened the OCA file in notepad and searched the term distanceInMeters and found it a bunch of times with proper entries in meters in each, if that helps any.
@ocaudiophile my bad. I tried sharing via Google drive, but UA-cam instantly deleted my comment. If there's a way to share it with you, please lmk. Thanks
@@ocaudiophile i found out what causes the issue. If you have 2 subs in standard mode the script does not generate data for the second sub. I redid the measurements with with subs set to directional and it worked fine. I think the issues arises because the curves for the standard 2 sub setup are generated as one sub. I hope this helps.
@@ajsharaf oh that's interesting. I used my existing ady file. Really don't have it in me to redo that at the moment. I'll have to recalibrate again sometime in January when I finish setting up my atmos speakers. I'll remember to come back and provide an update if your suggestion fixed it for archiving purposes. I do have 2 subs btw, so it does add up.
When using the standard version it tells my front heights are out of phase but they aren’t and on the beta version it tells me they are ok but 1 rear and one front speaker are out of phase. Somethings not right with the script but will probably get sorted on an update.
I’m getting a similar issue with 4 of my 11 speakers now apparently out of phase using 1.5; when I have never had an issue with their polarity in the past. Is this a bug? Thanks Kevin
Amazing, can’t wait to try it out. As i understood it you can take all your measurements and neuron will do the cross correlation and vector average with the mlp on top. All we need now is for rew to allow multi measurement from file and label the measurement in the order they are in the playlist.
Yes all you have to do is measure your speakers with REW starting from MLP and name them correctly. The rest is automatic. You can also use your Audyssey measurements for a quick result.
Automatic, assuming I still name the other measurements the correct channel. I found It quicker before to run the playlist in VLC in the correct order ie c, fl, fr … and let Rew auto number them 1, 2 ,3 … in position A, B, C … all I had to do is press control + m and enter after each measurement and it’s ready to take the next. And after I cross correlation and vector average the measurements together I would then give it the correct channel name. Any way this is a feature request from rew not anything you have control over. But I’ll give it ago now just naming them as I go and let neuron do the rest. Another question though last version went to 200hz which can be changed up to 1000hz is this the same?
I create my .avr file. Ran Neuron Preview 1.4 and upload the .avr file. Nothing happens it just stays at the "Upload Configuration" screen and never moves on. Tried Edge, Chrome, rebooted laptop and power cycled receiver. I'm stuck. I have a Denon_AVR-S760H.
[ERROR!] Measurement for main listening position (index 0) is missing for SWNaN. Optimization cannot proceed without it! What could be the reason? Using the past ADY file.
I am getting same error with past ADY file. I think you have sub measurements as SWMIX. I think Audyssey names subs measurements as SWMIX when you have multiple subs and if you calibrate with standard bass instead of directional. But I may be wrong.
Also having this issue. I also have mult subs and my measurements in REW are SWMIX0-7. I am using a Denon X3700H and MultEQ XT32 ady file. Any tips or do we need to wait until a fix is implemented?
@@jamesbeshero2029 I am planning to run audyssey calibration with directional bass when I get a chance. In the meantime, I am using REW measurements I took for nexus. Not sure if there is an easy way for us to rename SWMIX to naming conventions the script expects.
Hi, I have just discovered the extraordinary work done for the A1 project. Congratulations to the developer of this solution. On the other hand, I'm a little lost: what are the differences between A1, A1 evo, A1 Nexus and Neuron? Should I just take the last exit? In this case Neuron? Thanking you in advance
Yes go with Neuron if you don't do a lot of low level listening. If that's the case and you need Dynamic EQ, it's not implemented in Neuron yet, you need Maestro (uses .ady Audyssey measurements) or Nexus (uses manual REW measurements)
A little feedback from my end: I tested now both the A1 Evo Mastro and Neuron. Everything went smoothly, no holdups or errors - except for a false positive in phase detection with Neuron. It flagged one of my surround speakers with a “Speaker SRA seems to be out of phase” warning. I’ve checked the cabling, and it’s correct (though I didn’t do the battery test). The option to disable speaker inversion was really useful. Also, I like how informative your script is throughout the process. I based my tests on a fairly new .ady file taken with the Audyssey mic that came with my Cinema 40. While Maestro gave me an immediate improvement, Neuron felt like it lacked bass, which I’ve heard others mention too. I think that might come down to subjective perception, since I’m used to having DynamicEQ turned on. As you suggested in an earlier comment, I’ll probably need to remeasure, this time using my UMIK and following your Nexus guide. Ah, and final sub volume was set to +7,5 dB. Any plans on an option for DynamicEQ in Nexus, too?
Thanks for the feedback. You should experience with steeper target curves if bass is lacking and/or different "subwoofer target fill" values. Also, if your speakers qualify, LFE + Main mode will give a much richer bass most of the time. DEQ will be coming to Neuron in a more sophisticated manner with the help of odd.wtf but I need more time.
@@ocaudiophile Thanks! Yes, LFE+Main is definitely possible with my KEF floorstanders - they’re pretty capable. Until now, though, I’ve stuck to just using LFE with a crossover at 80-90 Hz. But I noticed the crossovers in Neuron are set quite high at 150 Hz, so I’ll experiment a bit more with LFE+Main - and of course different target curves. Was about to ask if you could point out a steeper curve from you library, but then I saw the “Compare Tarved Cruves.mdat” - you got it all covered, man!! Looking forward to DEQ, but no rush - there’s plenty to tweak and play around with in the meantime! 😊
Hi. A lot to gain with different target curves. More bass now! Thanks. But I wonder, do you have any explanation why Neuron detects one of my surround speakers out of phase ("Speaker SRA seems to be out of phase!") - have you seen a lot of these actual false positives? (double checked, the connections are good)
Hello together on the last day of 2024. Its so great what you have done here! THX for such a great work! Here is my feedback to the finally working version 1.4 on my denon receiver: My 2 Subwoofers working as one, now. Did the oca-File delete the directed setting? Bevore Neuron the setting was directet to Left and right speakers to avoid possible overturn or beeing to slow in stress mode like electronic music. I understand to less about the difference of neuron or this frequeny filters - if its better like this, now. The There is also no distance-mesurement (or calculation) for my second subwoofer. To go further, the bass is a bit to low or less "punchy" as with audyssey. But not everywhere. In some music-tracks or at Dolby Atmos is quite fine...but at XBox-Gaming (Star Wars - Jedi Survivor) it feels like "without the force". Maybe in 2025 it will be possible to increase the Bass (specially that "kickin") a bit? Next thing is, that i get a Message from my Receiver while looking in Manual settings: It told me that some of the Distances have no possible (or correct) values. I hope this will not have any bad effect. One strange thing is, that some Music-tracks and dolby atmos demos lead to pain in my ears. This wasn´t before and i had this problem a few years ago with wrong set speakers...and booming. But maybe this can be fixed with a bit finetuning in the manual setting of my receiver. Overall and in direct comparsion to audyssy (and ignored that audyssey overboosted all Surround- and Back-Speakers by allmost 10dB) Neuron sounds more "old school" or less digital...almost a bit more dully. But realy just a little little bit. Finally on big question remains: If i just boost the Bass-dB manually in my receiver, what will happen? Will it destroy the calculation of neuron and effekt other frequencies (to boost or lower them) or is it easy to use? Thx and a happy new year
I’m not going to look at the crossovers or anything once I’ve rerun Neuron. Since the genius work done is algorithm based, there are way too many variables at play to start tinkering with something just because it feels counter intuitive. Trust the process and your ears. Thanks again to OCA! Happy holidays!
Agreed. It’s still telling me 4 speakers are out of phase though. They’re definitely not as I’ve double checked the cables. Is this deliberate or a bug?
@@SeanGreensmith-i3p Polarity checking algo is very advanced but it's impossible to reach 100% accuracy there. It can misjudge especially with dolby enabled (place on top of speakers) speakers and center speaker due to their locations. Good thing is if the algo sees it inverted, it might really benefit sonically from inversion (unless it's a front main speaker). But if you are worried, you can swap speaker cables from the rear of the receiver and compare until I add something to avoid inversion if user confirms speaker is correctly connected in the script.
Applied the Neuron script today with Denon AVR and 5.1.4. setup. Total gamechanger. It‘s actually shocking when I switch between speaker presets Audyssey app vs A1 Evo Neuron optimization: It’s such a noticable improvement! There are some surprises regarding crossovers, e.g Fronts are now set at 120hz crossover (despite two woofers each) while lesser equipped Surrounds are set at 40hz. And sub was boosted with +7,5 db which I had to reduce a bit. But what matters is the overall sound experience. And it’s just amazing! For 3D as well as 2ch stereo. Thank you Oca!
Hello OCA,
one thing is unclear to me.
I test LFE+MAIN on/off but always get a message:
17:14:20 [IMPORTANT] Optimized 'LPF for LFE' frequency for bass management: 250Hz
And its strange because my mains can play lower than 35hz.
After I upload my config to AVR, subb out is still only LFE. Should I manually set subb out to LFE+MAIN on freq. 250hz? Or when I upload the config, all will be set automatically. Because also my mains are crossed on 120hz, and all others on 60hz .. :)
Maybe a quick summary at the end of the script will help also to others understand what should be done manually and what should not. Thanks.

@@ocaudiophilequick question. Do I need to go through previous videos or just follow this video for my Denon x2600h?
Thanks, legend!!!🎉
Thank you!
Thank you very much, that's extremely generous and you didn't have to :)
Crossover algo selects the frequency that will sound best at the MLP based on the response effected from wall gains and reflections.
@@Wordsalad69420 Dirac Live (Bass Control) and Audyssey XT32 are both crap compared to Neuron. My opinion :)
Thank you btw ;)
@@ocaudiophile Ah ok, yeah, I was wondering since the one you replied to was a generation newer!
So what is the suggested order of operations for 'older hardware' Neuron + MiniDSP, please and thanks! 🙂

This custom version will set your Center speaker to 80Hz (despite what it may say in the log):

I want to be honest, even though you made it easy by transferring the calibration using the .bat files directly to the receiver. I personally preferred the old method of A1 Evo, using the .ady file in conjunction with the Audyssey App. Would it be possible to create an HTML for us, where we can simply get an .ady file back?
Out of curiosity, why do you prefer using the app? The new Neuron method is so much more streamlined and makes it feel "proper" instead of a hack.
App cannot send the filters Neuron produces. They include phase correction which Audyssey cannot do!
@@ocaudiophile Okay I unterstand, thank you.

New A1 Evo Neuron Release - Preview v1.4 (30 Dec 2024 23:00 CET)
• odd.wtf upgraded to v0.8-8, introducing a new power command to turn the receiver ON and OFF.
• Consolidated multiple processes into oddMenu.bat script for easier usage (courtesy of Music_Cat)
• Calibration target curve and other user options are now saved in the .oca file. While they can currently be viewed with a JSON editor, they will be displayed during file transfer in the next odd update.
• Resolved a bug that caused distance limit issues in certain setups. This fix significantly improves bass response for affected configurations.
• If one speaker in a pair is assigned a significantly higher crossover frequency, it will now be adjusted closer to the lower crossover frequency of its pair to avoid bass localization
• Recalibrated crossover frequencies for better alignment with filter resolution in MultEQ XT systems
• Addressed an issue with the "CH" speaker in Auro 3D setups.
• Minor UI improvements
• New Options added:
o Disable Speaker Inversion: Indicative results without altering polarity.
o Force Large Fronts: Allows front speakers to operate in large/full range LFE + Main mode (if they are large enough). Other speakers/pairs will only be evaluated for full range if front mains are set to large
This version is free of bugs (for a preview) and I believe represents the potential of the new Neuron!
See you next year!

@ocaudiophile
Version 1.0 took out all the bass from my system (sub level was set to +1), but version 1.1 takes it out even further and sets it to -9 making it sound very anemic.

Great Work, when V1.7?
Don't forget the poor folks who only have MultEQ, like a Marantz Cinema 70s owner, please. Thanks for your amazing work !
This may be dumb question but does this mean I can use my UMIK and take all the measurements from within REW and not via my Marantz at all?
That is correct.

It's only compatible with XT and XT32 at the moment. We are working on EQ compatibility. It's quite different to the other two.
@@ocaudiophile Ahhh that sucks for us.
I am still using the original A1 setup and been out of the loop with these new iterations the past year.
i'd like to know it too :D
Same question: Do people recommend following the A1 Evo Nexus videos / guidelines for how to take the measurements best? Or any other tips / advice?
Rock on!
Good idea, will add that in the next update...

The MultEQ XT32 changed to Flat, is that correct? Or should it be Reference? Should/Could I change it?
Yes Flat is where it's supposed to be but Reference also has the same filters and target curve.
@@ocaudiophile Thank you.
When I try to upload a configuration nothing happens. It's stuck at the "Upload Configuration" screen. Even with another computer - same problem.
I am having the same issue with V1.5 and V 1.4, so I grabbed V1.1 and that version allowed me to upload the .avr file.
Same for me, my subwoofer almost doubled in distance while my 5 speakers are much closer now.
With subwoofer distances you have to think in terms of delays rather than physical distances.
That's right, because the subwoofer is always further away than all the other speakers. Merry Christmas!
(Could this issue be because I don’t have a subwoofer?)
Now, I’ve run into a problem I also had with Audyssey One at the time-I don’t have a subwoofer. With this new script, it seems to get stuck when it looks for one. Back then, when I used Audyssey One, I uploaded my file, and you were able to fix it for me.
Here’s the output I’m seeing:

Also, I’ve recently gotten a couple of new speakers, so the Audyssey One file you sent me a year ago no longer matches my setup. The difference between using just a normal Audyssey MultiEQ and your scripts is insane haha.

I'm also getting this issue :(
Thank you! Preview v1.2 sounds perfect in my HT. My doubts about Center crossed @250Hz have been lay to rest.
It's not even at its 100% potential yet ;)
How do I know, which is the "right" target curve?
In case you have no ideas, take Evo neuron curve. If you done that try harmann +6 or +8 and compare. Then choose probably evo neuron curve xD

Die Einmessung habe ich per Audyssey App durchgeführt und in der neuesten REW Version eingefügt.
When using different XOs, the script for examples currently gives me customXOs of
FL+FR 40 Hz, C 90Hz.
A few others got the same error but none shared their files so I don't know yet what is causing this. We'll find out and fix soon.

When using the standard version it tells my front heights are out of phase but they aren’t and on the beta version it tells me they are ok but 1 rear and one front speaker are out of phase. Somethings not right with the script but will probably get sorted on an update.
Same here. 6 Speakers out of phase of 11 in total - in all other versions since 1.0 none were... something seems to be odd though

Hi,
I have just discovered the extraordinary work done for the A1 project. Congratulations to the developer of this solution.
On the other hand, I'm a little lost: what are the differences between A1, A1 evo, A1 Nexus and Neuron?
Should I just take the last exit?
In this case Neuron?
Thanking you in advance
.
Yes go with Neuron if you don't do a lot of low level listening. If that's the case and you need Dynamic EQ, it's not implemented in Neuron yet, you need Maestro (uses .ady Audyssey measurements) or Nexus (uses manual REW measurements)
@ocaudiophile when I do low level listening like instead of 75db i hear with 60 65 db
@@ocaudiophile Thank you, yes I need Dynamic EQ, I'll check Maestro and Nexus.
(double checked, the connections are good)
@JoeLyce could a faulty sra measurement
Hello together on the last day of 2024. Its so great what you have done here! THX for such a great work!
Here is my feedback to the finally working version 1.4 on my denon receiver:
My 2 Subwoofers working as one, now.
Thx and a happy new year
Another masterpiece by a sound God…lots of love…brilliantly done..❤
I’m not going to look at the crossovers or anything once I’ve rerun Neuron. Since the genius work done is algorithm based, there are way too many variables at play to start tinkering with something just because it feels counter intuitive.
Trust the process and your ears.
Thanks again to OCA!
Happy holidays!
That's the right approach. Go back to the board only if you don't like what you hear (tip: it's not gonna happen!)
@ it’s the top speakers it’s struggling with. Will see how it fares in live use.
Thanks for your great work!
