I’m not in this age group but this is a really important video to post. I think it’s great that in this day in age people can easily learn what to do so they don’t get hurt. Falls happen far too often.

Although not in this age group, I keep tripping on badly laid pavement slabs in my new area. The second time I sustained serious injury and spent time in hospital. The suggestions given are useful for those who fall due to lack of balance, or in the home, but in my case I think it's a matter of complaining to the council about the state of the pavements. None of my friends, one lives locally, trips on the slabs, but admits they are badly laid.

I am learning which is the main thing.
ps.. regarding my microphone, as you say it may be canvas due to the retailer tested my microphone headset and reassures me it's working fine so it'll be ither my pc or canvas, so I give it a couple of webinars to see it sorts itself out, in the meantime I'm doing all I can to acquire another pc just in case it is at my end.

I regularly watch programmes about the ambulance service, and a huge proportion of their call outs are to elderly fallers. It's quite depressing, and makes me dread the future. If we can prevent falls the NHS will really benefit from not having to deal with injuries from falls. At the present the elderly are bankrupting the NHS with their health problems and accidents.

Hearing impairment is also another factor in poor balance and falls

After the falls how do they recover without a safety device for alerts? What areas are most hazardous in a home? I liked this video. Thank you

I am 60 and have had seventeen falls since the sudden death of my young daughter. I believe they're related to the trauma around her death and a sense of having lost my ` centre of gravity' There isn't much mention of psychological causes.

I keep tripping when I wear sandals. Probably don’t lift my feet high enough.
