Hey Jeff if you had to choose between the raw 580 or 500 what would it be both 6s of course. And what battery connectors are you using and where do you get them from? Thanks brother.
@@waymaker_rc_club hey buddy, so I LOVE my RAW 580 all day over any heli. I like the 500 but the 580 is just perfect in my opinion. Of course it’s slightly bigger, I made some videos on both. But I would say RAW 580! I use XT90s on the 6s helis or lately I’ve been switching to RCpro S7s.
What up Bro?....im saving this video for the end of the day...ive got to do yard work and spray for bugs but you can bet your ass that i will pop a top on a cold beer and enjoy the maiden flight later:)
Also really want a raw, but it is so expensive. I can get a Trex 550x super combo for couple bucks more than just the Raw Frame with no electronics. But I still want it
@@westhobbiesrc8051 probably not in the US but here in SA it is a big difference. Raw 580 just the frame cost around $1000 where a 550x super combo is around $1160. So to get Raw with electronics it would cost around $2080
To build this exact 580 it’s around $1700 a Trex 550X combo with the good servos is $1200 so $500 difference with all great electronics. RAW 580 kit is $730 with blades
So I do not know if you will respond to an old video but here goes, I already have a goblin 700, not convenient for everyday flying. Too much heli. So I want to build the best (over all performer - something good for today and tomorrow as I improve) mid sized 6s heli available on the market, don't care about brand. But it seems, maybe the Raw 580 is the answer. I know that you build and fly a lot of models. Am I on track? What would you recommend for 6s quality and performance in one package? Thank you for your opinion.
So personally I find the RAW 580 the best 550/600 size heli ever made! I fly it the most out of every heli I own or have built and flown! The Setup that’s in this RAW 580 is perfect! Incredible power to weight ratio. Super light feeling In the air, great flight times! I would highly recommend the RAW 580!
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Thank you for taking time to answer my question and share your opinion. Your feedback is really quite an endorsement for the RAW 580! The Kraken 580 seems to be a Cadillac quality kit, and it looks great as well, but I think the RAW is the better fit knowing I want to run 6s only. Plus I always want to get in on that rare moment when all things come together for the creation of an exceptional, magical benchmark performer! I always struggle to pull the trigger and make the big $$ investment in starting a heli build. Cant afford mistakes! LOL Thanks again for your input! I really enjoy your videos btw.
Nice ending to the series! Do you have a video on how to tune your helicopter with the iKon2? As in what to adjust settings wise. So far I haven't played with anything on my XLPower 550 but I do know that if I do a punch out the tail walks out to the right then comes back. I'm glad I watched this series, I wasn't aware I could use just the satellite receivers. My first 550 I used the telemetry RX and a satellite RX, my second one just has two satellites. I haven't figured out how to make the telemetry work on my first one so I didn't buy it this time. Anyway great videos, keep them coming.
Thank you! No I don’t have a watch to adjust video. But I do have a set up video on the Ikon. Do you want to adjust your tail pitch pre-compensation. Meaning when you give it collective you wanted to feed more right rudder pitch. What ESC are you running for telemetry? And what are you trying to get? You can all run a SRXL2 satellite and get full telemetry with a satellite and no external RX.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I guess it would be the tail pre-compensation, I was just curious of what tune on it. I'm still in my first year of flying helis and trying to learn as much as I can. It flies great with stock settings, I'm sure the more experience I get it will come to me as to what I need to do if anything. I'm running the Hobbywing 120 Platinum. Not a big deal on the Telemetry, I maybe getting back the RPMs, just haven't noticed. I've got a Blade 360 Fusion and I'm thinking hard at putting an iKon2 on it also, I really like the unit.
So yeah it would definitely be the precompensation, just a bit a little bit at a time. On what to look for as far as tuning comes with time. One thing I really like with Ikon is any questions you might have or some thing you’re trying to figure out what each parameter does in the software if you just hold your mouse cursor over it it explains it in detail. It’ll tell you what happens if you go too high or too low, really you just look for wobbles or tail walk out or maybe pirouetting left and right sometimes when you Piro left it spins faster than when you Piro right. Or vice versa, but the stock tune is usually perfect! Really I just adjust of course my rotation speed to my liking and depending on the model I’ll have to play with the tail stops and or tail precompensation and then most of the time I up the pitch boost for hard cyclic stops. The Ikon is definitely my favorite FBL out there and one I run In pretty much all my helis!
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Jeff, I have another question. I installed the iKon2 on my Blade Fusion 360 as I test flew it and everything seemed fine except the tail was slow. I revisited my tail servo throws took them until bind and backed off about 5 clicks each way. The tail was definitely faster, I did an inverted piro-punch out over to upright, my tail started the most violent shaking (extreme wag) I went to throttle hold and auto'd it down from 40 feet, my first ever auto. I adjusted the tail throws down a few more clicks with the phone app and flew again, same thing happened again but on a left hand banking turn. I just flew it back to the ground nothing I could do but land and start over. I didn't think about throwing the tail into rate mode until after I got it back down. My linkages are working fine when I took the Spektrum FBL off is this P-gain causing this?
@@TerryMusick make sure that you have the correct tail servo selected, meaning make sure that the HZ and Pluse is set correctly to your specific servo. Make sure tail is set up correctly meaning tell servo 90° 2 to 4° of right rudder at neutral stick. If all of that is perfect and you are still getting an extreme wag check of course tail gain in your radio. Is the tail gain being down in the Ikon or Radio? Not the PID gains but regular tail gain.
Awesome helicopter! Question, I just got a NX6, everything works fine with my 230s except for the safe mode, there is no self leveling in normal mode, how I set it up? everything is new for me
Have you set it up by the book? You should definitely have self level in normal mode and rescue. (Safe mode) if you set it up by the book and still nothing, try deleting your model and starting over maybe something did not go proper when the first set up happened.
