The entire site is impressive (and MASSIVE, I might add), but the relief carvings are particularly stunning and just so life-like. They really capture the movement of their subjects and you feel as if the various gods, chariots, soldiers and elephants will pop right off the rock face. Incredible.
I have heard there are six other temples under the ocean that came up when the water retreated for 1 to 2 km during the Tsunami of 2004. The legends are absolutely true then.
Yes...
Even before Tsunami some of the shore temples of Mahabalipuram submerged under Ocean due to rising sea levels.
Actually Mahabalipuram was main giant harbour of Pallava dynasty & mostly engulfed by sea unfortunately.

@@shrinnivasan7014 are you stupid? Have you never seen indian map? Tamil Nadu is in India. Got it?
@@alankarkhare12 TRUE bro🤣🤣
@@alankarkhare12 Why call him stupid? Mamallai is in Tamilnadu indeed. If someone say the Taj is in UP, will you call him stupid? When these monuments constructed, Palkava kingdom was independent, & no India then.
Again great video, you should visit few more places in TN like Madurai, Srirangam,Chidambaram, Rameshwaram,Kanyakumariand Thanjavur. Madurai has the world's Largest functioning temple and Thanjavur has one of worlds oldest temple.
I visited Madurai and Rameshwaram, and I got some good clips from there but I am hesitant to release video, as the main temples there do not allow shooting inside :(
Amazing Places on Our Planet yes many temples in India do not allow shooting inside the temple but if you request the temple authorities saying you're journalist they might allow you. If you say UA-cam and vloger they might be hesistant. Even if you get the permission they will not allow to film the main diety except few places but you can shoot the architecture and rest of the temple.
shridhar nagansur I tried this desperately in Madurai, as the temple there is stunning and of high histirical and architectural value, but it didn't help, maybe I did not find the right people, whoever I talked to told me to go to some office in Chennai for permission :(
Amazing Places on Our Planet I would suggest you to take help of locals or contact Administration directly and get all the necessary permits prior to visit them. Every major functioning temple will have a site like this www.maduraimeenakshi.tnhrce.in/admin.aspx where Administration details will be there and you can contact them directly. Non functioning temples fall under ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) and local Government Administration, they also will have sites and you can contact them. If you are trying to get permit through locals either you should have a friend who knows local language or take help of tourist guides (they might charge you for this). Since you're outsider I would prefer contacting them directly and then if that doesn't work go for the second option. But they will allow you shoot everything except inside where main diety is there.
shridhar nagansur Thanks for the advice, it is a pity I did not know that in advance!
Это чудо из чудес!!!!!
What a architecture of india.... I love my India.
My request to every indian please make seven Wonders of india🇮🇳.

Tamil civilization is as timeless as time
There is no such thing as Tamil civilization.
According to periyar, there was indigenous civilization, your fanatic Dravedians of north India occupied this region when Aryans defeated you in the north. So don't call it Tamil civilization.

My wish is to have Indian music for Indian places. This music is too pathetic and sinistre. I find it disturbing. There is sooo much fantastic Indian music, kindly choose that. :-)
There is a lot of beautiful Indian music, but almost nothing to license online...
It sounded Indian to me
Indian music best music in the world's
Why the competition? I actually liked that music so much that I went and bookmarked Mr Christian's page. There is something timeless and relentlessly fascinating about a hazy Indian landscape that will come to life with the right music.
I don't agree with you. Just because a music does not make you happy does not mean it doesn't feel beautiful. I like the music of this video, the darkness and the mystery of the environment that it generates, widens the unimaginable beauty of these locations.

I haven’t seen this place for 41 years. This video made me want to go back. I can remember the sweet smell of that orange cris-cross sweet stuff I can’t remember the name of lol. The taste of the lassy and the food I was eating from a banana tree leaf. A monkey robbed our hotel room too lol he robbed my dads hash 😂 and I got stung by a jellyfish, still got a tiny scar. Amazing memories ❤ 1979/80. Ended up in Goa, bagga beach:)

These people stole these or someone from outside India made this, they just payed them mostly Myanmar, combodia, Thailand, Vietnam. Infact non of the ancient architecture was built by Indians. Compare Indian architecture from different states to different countries above I said. Their dress such as saree, doties or any dress they wear also not made by them most common way they dressed come from above mentioned countries. Also invasion of Muslims also brought some they copied from middle East.
@@alexmudiappan1287 lol 😂😂😂😂 what an idiot! 😂😂 you fool Hinduism is the oldest religion of the world. All of these built by Indians. These arts were based on our mythology characters of hinduism(God, angles). I think you forgot indus valley civilization(The birthplace of Hinduism) The ancient Indus systems of sewerage and drainage developed and used in cities throughout the region were far more advanced than any found in contemporary urban sites in the Middle East, and even more efficient than those in many areas of Pakistan and India today.
Annabel Rose, it's your culture that's notorious for stealing the achievements of other civilizations.

Great to see a place we used to go too on vacation back in the 1960's when we lived in Vellore. Puducherry is another nice place to go and back then, it had a bit of French influence.
Puducherry /Pondicherry was very tempting to visit too, as it was close, but time is always not enough on these trips :(
Never enough time when you are traveling. We lived there and got to see a lot most people don't get to see. Check out Kodaikanal (where I went to school) which is a mountain resort in the southern Ghats and Vellore because they there are a bunch of forts that are amazing granite stone works. So much more in South India that gets overlooked.
