Dude... you have over 30,000 subscribers! Great to see how the channel has grown so much over the years. This is really interesting. Love to see how the competition in this space is driving so much innovation and quality.
I second that. I was sub'd to Jay way back when he did his first 2 videos with the Mevo + on his personal channel and was getting into simulators :) Crazy to see how far he's come.
Great Video! iO looks amazing, especially at that more affordable price point. Trackman quality data at that price? Trackman better be ready for these to fly off the shelf! I'm excited to see the new iO for myself now.
Thanks, Cole. Yes the data is looking excellent based on testing and I’m sure a lot of people will be excited to see the much lower entry point for pricing.
Looking forward to your reviews on this. After my own extensive testing and review I ended up purchasing a GC Quad. I felt that the mis-hits on be quad were much more accurate. The regular track man struggled to accurately capture the “gear” effect (toe and heel hits). In particular, a push draw hit on the toe of a driver would read as a push fade. I would love it if you could include that aspect in your upcoming reviews.
I would love to see a review of this new Trackman, the Trugolf Apogee, and the Uneekor Eye XO2. Looking to build a custom sim this winter and was leaning towards the Apogee, but this really added a new wrinkle to my planning.
I tried testing this a bit. Same thing Infared interferes. But good news it people have seen thousands of my shots and know my data quite well and I will show it a lot to ensure accurate data is being provided. Based on testing so far it is looking very solid.
wouldn't do the trugolf apogee if you can avoid it. local sim uses it (just got the newest apogee system) and it's wildly off, especially in terms of ball flight.
This looks amazing. Great interview and demo. Love the fact that it doesn't need stickers or specific ball... but the price (with subscription) is still a bit high for the residential market. I think the Eye XO 2 made a mistake not finding a way to eliminate the stickers. That would have made it a no brainer over the original.
Can see this selling really well. Packed with features that are available elsewhere for sure but in a single package like this under the Trackman name. It's going to sell in large numbers
You could in theory use an external swing camera and place it to look at the swing path but it’s not going to give this level of zoomed in quality. This is a high quality expensive camera with infrared.
Another question - it doesn’t seem like the unit comes with a remote control. How do you power on / off the unit? Do you need to physically interact with a button on the TM IO unit? One issue with TM4 is you need to power on and off the unit a couple times a week, and the only way to do that is to press the power button at the bottom of the machine. Obviously this is easier to do with a unit that sits on the floor, and harder with a unit that’s 10’ high.
i have yet to be on a track man home sim and been satisfied. as a 2 cap and bud a +3 cap always felt other sims more accurate for indoor. in fact a teaching pro cally rep just switched is trackman setup to uneekor....and he was die hard trackman snob..
This would probably solve that issue. Most don’t have tm4 setup right indoors. It takes a ton of light to get impact and that’s vital. This now measure spin axis.
Always great to see new gear come online. But, looks like it will sell with a Trackman brand premium without providing anything more than units selling for less and already proven. Not to mention a lot of things being future hopes and promises. Wouldn't be my first choice but definitely cool to see
Trackman has always been at a premium price for sure. I think it’s really good to see a much lower entry point though with the home io version. Gives someone full simulation capability with access to their software etc. I still find many go this way if they prefer Trackman software. Software is very personal preference so this will always vary per user on their individual value. As you said, awesome to see more options hitting the market and it will be very interesting to see what all they can unlock with this new platform as it seems to have some big growth potential with the camera and off board processing. Thanks for watching!
It definitely adds an entire new dimension to a round for sure. I also like seeing how the scratch golfer approaches certain shots and how they recover from a miss etc. Thanks for watching!
Hi Jay, how do you find the lag between impact and your ball flight appearing on-screen with the TrackMan iO? I demoed the Eye OX 2 recently and was surprised by how instantaneous the feedback was. In your video the TrackMan seems to have a touch more lag. How would you compare the two in terms of responsiveness?
There is a very small delay. I asked him about this right away. Sounds like they are working with the developers to get it to be instantaneous, that is the plan. Sounds like it will be coming soon and I’ll be sure to show that when they do the update.
I would like to see a comparison of how close the accuracy is vs. the GC Quad Ball Stats such as Carry distance - Total Distance - Ball Speed Launch angle - ETC.
I responded to this exact question and another comment. The problem is both units have infrared which interferes and they don’t operate properly. The good news is they were us have seen thousands of my shots so they can get a good comparison just from that. I will continue to do more and include on course play, etc.. I know my numbers quite well and everything I’m saying, so far looks really good.
I use a carls golf indoor simulator. My dimensions is 10’ high and 12.5’ width and 10’ length. My concern is the ceiling mount. Will the TrackMan io see with a 10 feet tunnel. I have a black spandex material on the top and sides of the simulator. And will the projection interfere with the TrackMan. My projector is about 9.5 feet high. Any comments would be great

@jameskaiser7111 I did not know that. TGC 2019 are all user created courses, keep in mind many are not perfect and have errors, etc. Trackman goes to each course and does drone and photography, etc. so it takes them a long time to design a course. Even the houses and buildings are custom designed vs TGC are a set library of generic. Things like that are what set it apart. I think most would agree the ball physics are much more realistic in VG2 as well. I am not trying to push opinion or favor one just trying to state facts.
So on the video with the club and path, is that the actual clubhead we're seeing? I'm guessing by the logo on the ball, it's the actual club right? That's very cool!
Yes, that is the actual club and ball. The exact slow motion video the camera is grabbing. They just crop the ball post impact to precisely measure the spin, etc. It is a very clear video, hopefully the UA-cam video does not take away from that. Be sure to force 4k on youtube :)
Did you get a chance to ask Jakob if or when they will add club data such as angle of attack, low point distance, swing plane, swing direction, etc? I know it was mentioned in the video that some club parameters might come in the future. But these are pretty crucial metrics to have in commercial settings when giving lessons. For them to charge $7,500 more for commercial use, (I assume the hardware for the Home and Commercial versions are identical) it better come with the whole entire suite of club and ball parameters that the TM4 tracks.
Very slight I agree, I asked about that and they said they are doing constant development and since this does off board processing they think it can be improved and/or eliminated to near instant.
Are there a lot of amateurs that will pay $13k + $700/yr for an in-home sim? You could buy a lot of personalized instruction/coaching for that, I hope! For those chip shots, is the distance still accurate? I'm just curious if a 10yd chip at a screen is about 10yd outdoors. Same with putts.
Yeah you wouldn’t have a projector in that location. Even super short throw would be behind it for most setups. Best location for projectors is over the hitting area in my opinion.
Jay, excellent video. The interview was very informative. Great to see TM raising the bar on indoor launch monitor tech and tournament play. Their software is clean, the UI and impact video is impressive. Does TM support 4k graphics? Curious to see how the residential market will respond to the $700/$1K subscription model. Great content....
The new device looks like it is a winner. Love the club path tracking because I need to find if I hit the golf ball fat, which actually happens to me on a grass practice tee.. I did not see the club data screen, so is it still in the software? The ability for the device to be in small spaces like a living room is intriguing to me. The problem for me is that I still have to use real golf balls to get the correct information. The place that I use the TrackMan, sometimes my shots do not get all the club data. I am hopeful the new device solves those problems BTW, you talk about the Ally Championship Pro-Am. I live in Michigan. Where do you do the videos?
Check out my new video, I go over all the current club data and they plan to release more. ua-cam.com/video/P9cxHeLpx0k/v-deo.html I’m in southeast Michigan. Happy to connect you with the Michigan rep just shoot me an email. a98cr125@gmail.com
⛳ 💯 Great video, Jay! Congrats to Jakob and Trackman 🟧 on this new product!! Opening up new doors with proven tracking and best in industry software/UI
This is indoors only and designed to only be ceiling mounted. Now, don’t get me wrong if someone wanted to mount this in a cupboard space outdoors I don’t see why it wouldn’t work they would just be risking the unit to outdoor elements which would void warranty.
Ok, thanks. To be sure, if a company had a ceiling mounted launch monitor that also could go to the range (it simply clicks in and out of the ceiling mount), that would really disrupt the market due to its versatility.
@@bradjones1583 I think it would be costly but not saying it is not possible. If they took a TM4 and added this camera to it, I could see it possibly working if they could somehow get a stand integrated etc. But I am not sure there is enough demand for that when they have TM4 and side units out there to accomplish this. Pretty specific market, but who knows, might be the next best thing coming! :)
Not quite sure what you mean. I’m using a desktop PC here. You can take data from Trackman software and export it various ways and they have online data as well.
I don’t think so. Total different product. This provides much less data. It’s really for the more home user not wanting all the data of TM4 and a lower price point they can afford. If someone could afford tm4 I don’t think they are looking to step back unless they have space constraints or lighting isn’t getting them impact consistently. Hope that makes sense.
It hasn’t missed any flop type shots yet. I think they approach cropping the ball is key to ensure good ball tracking. Pretty cool approach. Thanks for watching
Can you show what the calibration screen looks like and how that works? Is it the same as TM4 where each time you fire up TPS you need to calibrate by telling TM where your target is? (The yellow crosshair is what I’m referring to) Next question is, with TM4, when you hit the ball from an offset position (meaning the ball isn’t on the direct straight line between the yellow crosshair target and the TM4), and you aim at the spot directly in front of the ball (basically your offset ball position and where you are aiming, forms a line that is parallel with the line between the non-off set ball position and the target you put the yellow crosshair on during calibration). When you do this with the TM4, the club path and face angle reads incorrectly, because you are not aiming at the target on the yellow crosshair. So with TM4, if you want to hit the ball from an offset position, you actually need to change your stance and position such that you are aiming at the yellow crosshair target, in order to get the correct club path and face angle readings. Is this the case with the TM IO? (I fully appreciate I might have done a horrible job trying to communicate what I am trying to ask… this is a pretty complex situation to describe in words.. easier in person)
Yes I will do a full setup and calibration video soon. I always have my tm4 locked to center of my sim so I’ve never seen that. This is measuring square to the screen and from the ball location so no worries of that.
So $13995 for the unit (no club tracking at all), and then $700 a year for the kneecapped version of the course selection, and if you want more courses and it's 700 + 400 = $1100 a year!! That comes to still be very expensive.. Lets say you finance the unit with a 5 year plan that's $500 a month for the unit and then $92 a month for the software license. Uuuuggghh
Yes, that is correct. It is not a low cost unit, but I don’t think that was their intention. They just wanted to give a lower cost vs the full version. Thanks for watching!
I wonder if there will be an overhead/side camera integration for TM4 customers? Have best of both worlds of TM4 and TMIO. Great video and thanks for sharing!!
They definitely are not coming to market saying they are the lowest price. But it offers total different software with face angle, impact video and other data and features coming. Most likely just comes down to personal preference and personal value based on those I talk to that are going this route. A lot of people like what it offers for being ceiling mounted as well. I like Gc3 for what it is, don’t get me wrong. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great product but at 700 or more a year for the sub that is a lot to pay for what you get, He even said you could pay more for the sun to get more. Now you are talking 1000 per year. Just not worth it to me when there is so many other products in the market
Software is always a heavily weighted personal preference item and budget is included in that for sure. I know people that want a cheap permanent solution and I have a ton of viewers paying thousands as they buy and or subscribe to nearly every software available. It is not the lowest priced, I agree for sure, but I do not think that was their intention.
Bad idea to charge yearly for the software that will be a huge con for the consumer. He said affordable and then oh yeah over $1,000 a year for software and that price will always increase and you have no choice but to buy it. Nope!
$21k not portable, no club data? Crazy. $14k limited software access and all the above. Crazy. I’d take a gc3 with club data for half the price before I went trackman. For the money they want I’d go eyexo or quad. Trackman has equaled rip off since all the others came out.
Watch my 2nd video I show the current available club data. They are working to release more. It’s not cheap that’s for sure. Based on who I talk to, the ones attracted to it don’t want portable and like the Trackman software. Thanks for watching!
It’s not cheap that’s for sure. I think the real goal was to creat a lower entry point so they will continue to develop each package. Will be interesting to see what all is brought to the table. Thanks for watching.
@@SimuLinksGolf You can find the pricing breakdowns on the Trackman Website. What he is referring to is that the Home version has no club data. You need the higher priced version to get that data.
Thanks for watching lol. I show gspro as well, I don’t understand why comments like this have to be aired on my personal channel. I will continue to show all the various hardware and software out in the market.
I don't think anyone would ask you as an independent reviewer to make judgements on or even mention the lawsuits, and your comment below on them is insightful and correct. It IS hard to watch a company get this much air time and interview time that has left such a wound on another large portion of the home simulator community that really should all be galvanized as one passionate community. It would be good of you to consider giving a large video/interview time to that particular community as well, especially as the independent designers like myself and many others are pushing the envelope of home golf immersion more than anyone else in the industry in a mostly unpaid, because we love it kind of way. @GolfSimulatorVideos FYI, I posed under the wrong account, this is CE.Simgolf from the community.
I’m talking to the head of indoor golf at Trackman, this is a big deal and I’ve already had a ton of people email or comment saying how they really enjoyed it. I can’t do it all, I try my best to cover what I can that is useful to my viewers. I’ve covered a ton of gspro. I think interviewing course designers is just too granular. Most of my viewers are researching hardware, software, components, builds etc. Course designing just isn’t really in the current wheelhouse. Not to say it might not be some day but there are people already doing it as well so if someone was interested they can find it as well. I hope that all makes sense. Thanks for commenting and watching!
No doubt sir, this interview is a big deal. I didn't mean to take away from that. Nor was I really suggesting or plugging myself or other designers as interview potential. I really was not. It's just a personal reaction to something very real and frustrating to a large group of the indoor golf community. It's difficult to watch a giant established company discuss so "honestly" how much they want to be in that space, indoor golf, while behind doors they are attempting to bully a small, established company that is showing passion and embedded support for that community.@@GolfSimulatorVideos

For them to charge $7,500 more for commercial use, (I assume the hardware for the Home and Commercial versions are identical) it better come with the whole entire suite of club and ball parameters that the TM4 tracks.
All he could say is more club data is coming. They want it to be accurate. I will do a video asap covering current club data.
Looks like there is a slight delay, I have a GC quad and it looks faster than this?
Very slight I agree, I asked about that and they said they are doing constant development and since this does off board processing they think it can be improved and/or eliminated to near instant.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos thank you for the fast response.
Yes there are. I think it more for a mix of entertainment not just game improvement.
How far in front of the ball is the monitor located?
Depending on your ceiling height, roughly 3ft.
What about when you have an overhead projector?
He used an overhead projector in the video….
Glad you enjoyed it! So as of now TPS is actually 1080p even thought my 4k upscaling looks 4k. They have hinted big graphics updates are coming. 😊
Jay. Love the channel. I've now purchased an Eye XO, Eye XO2 and Swing Optix system from Jeremiah. Quick question... What are you using to upscale?
@@bfromcolorado5564 That is awesome. Not quite sure what you are referencing. Shoot me an email when you have a minute. a98cr125@gmail.com
Nice unit. I didn't catch the retail price? Thanks
It was in the interview. Starts at $13,995 for the home version.
Great video is this the lower price version you have ?
Everything I showed is the lower price point other than shit analysis. I will cover more on this asap and show more data etc. Thanks for watching
I am hopeful the new device solves those problems
BTW, you talk about the Ally Championship Pro-Am. I live in Michigan. Where do you do the videos?
Check out my new video, I go over all the current club data and they plan to release more. ua-cam.com/video/P9cxHeLpx0k/v-deo.html
I’m in southeast Michigan. Happy to connect you with the Michigan rep just shoot me an email. a98cr125@gmail.com
⛳ 💯 Great video, Jay! Congrats to Jakob and Trackman 🟧 on this new product!! Opening up new doors with proven tracking and best in industry software/UI
Thank you, Kyle! Thanks for watching!
to clarify, Trackman iO CANNOT be used outdoors or it also could be used on the range as well as indoors?
Can I transfer and receive trackman data on my desktop PC?
Not quite sure what you mean. I’m using a desktop PC here. You can take data from Trackman software and export it various ways and they have online data as well.
In fact, I do sessions on the practice range and then I get the results on my mobile, but not on my PC at home!
Does it need stickers on the club?
No. But there is limited club data as of right now. They are looking to add more. It shows a path line but provides a face angle number for instance.
Hi, How many different golf courses are there available on the trackman iO without the subscription? I don't want to subscribe. Thanks
You have to subscribe. No courses without a subscription.
Does that exist a simulator without subscription? If so which one do you recommend . Thanks for the quick response 😁@@GolfSimulatorVideos
I will get the Mevo+ , there's no subscription needed 🤩@@GolfSimulatorVideos
Great video Jay. In your opinion, why would or wouldn’t new TM4 customers get buyers remorse?
I don’t think so. Total different product. This provides much less data. It’s really for the more home user not wanting all the data of TM4 and a lower price point they can afford. If someone could afford tm4 I don’t think they are looking to step back unless they have space constraints or lighting isn’t getting them impact consistently. Hope that makes sense.
Hopefully they make a portable launch monitor for the range. Anything that's in the $5-10k range.
No talks of it I know of but if they have something else coming in the future, I’ll be sure to cover it! Thanks for watching!
What about flop shots?
It hasn’t missed any flop type shots yet. I think they approach cropping the ball is key to ensure good ball tracking. Pretty cool approach. Thanks for watching
Did you do the testing on the home or the home complete model?
This is the complete with shot analysis.
Can you show what the calibration screen looks like and how that works? Is it the same as TM4 where each time you fire up TPS you need to calibrate by telling TM where your target is? (The yellow crosshair is what I’m referring to)
Next question is, with TM4, when you hit the ball from an offset position (meaning the ball isn’t on the direct straight line between the yellow crosshair target and the TM4), and you aim at the spot directly in front of the ball (basically your offset ball position and where you are aiming, forms a line that is parallel with the line between the non-off set ball position and the target you put the yellow crosshair on during calibration).
Thank you! No indication of that from them. More do come soon!
Don’t get the point at this price ? GC 3 should be as good and portable with a non limited software and could be used with GSPRO for half the price.
Definitely a step in the right direction but If it doesn't have GSPRO compatibility forget it.
I doubt there will be any 3rd party software. They are committed to their own for sure. Not for everyone ya know. Thanks for watching!
Bad idea to charge yearly for the software that will be a huge con for the consumer. He said affordable and then oh yeah over $1,000 a year for software and that price will always increase and you have no choice but to buy it. Nope!
Everything is going subscription. Trackman is just higher tier cost, always has been. Then home edition is $700 per year.
5000 dollars to add club and ball specs. What a ripoff
It’s not cheap that’s for sure. I think the real goal was to creat a lower entry point so they will continue to develop each package. Will be interesting to see what all is brought to the table. Thanks for watching.
Where did you find that info?
@@SimuLinksGolf You can find the pricing breakdowns on the Trackman Website. What he is referring to is that the Home version has no club data. You need the higher priced version to get that data.
Screw Trackman! GSPRO RULEZ
