Meh, tbh, the guys are there to have fun and give their customers a nice time and I think that is it. Westerners just make it a big deal for some reason.
It's a big deal in Japan because it's looked down upon as "odd". These guys have a Western ideal...that's pretty much it.
@@aus-li I do agree with that but tbh people in Asia just don't care. I mean sure if they don't agree they'll probably show signs that they're not happy with it but no one will really say anything bad to you like in the west.

But I do agree that doing that is bad and we have to bring change but I really don't understand why the west has to make this issue more complicated. I mean support their cause fine, but this really isn't about 'Female Sexuality' or anything is what I feel. 'Cuz you know, I'm pretty sure most of us don't even go there for that reason. They go there to enjoy and have fun and that is it. I know this well, cuz I'm Anglo Indian and I lived in Europe and Asia and I've seen both sides and I just felt like people in the west just like complicating simple things which is really frustrating some times. Trust me you won't understand Asia from the western Eye

It's funny how she tries to put a negative spin on getting checked out by using "objectified". Like no, if men are in shape most of the time it's because we want to get checked out, it's like a silent harmless compliment.

@@RedChaos1208 I don’t think that’s necessarily it. It’s just that men don’t like the compliments they get. Women and men seem to have different typical brain patterns. Women are more active in regions associated with personality and other internalized aspects, and men are more active in regions associated with shapes and textures and other external stuff.
So when women compliment men for being funny, nice, or having other personality traits they find enjoyable, it doesn’t translate as a real compliment.
Meanwhile, when men compliment women for their bodies, those compliments don’t feel like real compliments to women.
So it’s more like a miscommunication than anything else. I’ve given guys plenty of compliments but they fall on deaf ears. The few times I gave physical compliments, I was nervous, and the guys receiving them were so weird about it that it was mortifying.
If anything…it’s like a “cultural” gap. Women and men have far more in common than not, but from a cultural gender standpoint, our perceptions are near opposites.
I think if we could get over this insidious concept that women and men should be the same (not just equal, but undifferentiated)…then we might appreciate the fact that both sexes need to put the time and effort into understanding the perception & the struggle of the other sex…
That way we can be compassionate.
It’s the compassion that’s missing. Nobody wants to be empathetic anymore about the opposite sex. It’s just “they’re the enemy”. I think that’s a shame, personally.

I thought this would be a fun video talking about the experience and/or about maybe the cultural differences in opinion about fitness but this is basically the servers trying to be fun and entertaining while the interviewer isn't even really talking about them or their restaurant and more about feminism and the objectification of women. Women simply don't objectify men like men objectify women. Like he said, they laugh, and it's not just about being sexual.... in fact, the "objectification" isn't really that at all! There's potential for dehumanizing, but their clientele don't take advantage of that, or don't seem to. Which men, culturally, are certain to do. Here there's an element of subversion, of humour, of camp... "Hooters" is just women being paid to look like they enjoy being degraded while at work.
Isn't that a sexist conclusion itself that the women working at hooters don't enjoy the work? A woman can equally have as much fun as a guy showing off their bodies which both sexes are proud of! I think OP has a point though regarding how women have it harder with men. I’m some cultures even, men tell women up front that they don’t have any value after they’ve lost their virginity. This is one way of getting dehumanized tbh. Women (as opposed to men) are culturally and historically subject to unwanted sexual harassment and assault at any workplace far more than men because of the power dynamic involved with being paid. When the added "uniform" or lack therof at "Hooters", these women are being paid to put up with daily sexual harassment, which no person could be expected to enjoy. It pays more for a reason. And paying someone to be abused in any way isn't employment, it's coercion. Men and women do not have the same social values attached to their bodies.

A woman working at a similar job would be considered, for example, one step from being a stripper, or not "respectable". The culture and history of women is different from that of men. We have a sex-differentiated history, and comparing things on a surface level doesn't make any sense.
