I feel like we probably have parallel histories in terms of HKUST hall allocations so far; I'm entering as a freshman in Fall 2022, chose Halls 7, 8, and 6 for my choices in my application, but got allocated to hall 5. I'm leaving next week, so wish me luck (I'm bringing a ton of cockroach repellent and traps thanks to what you said about the cockroach situation there)
I am going for an exchange semester at HKUST and got allocated to hall 8 , I was not sure what that meant but now I feel much better about it 😁 Thanks for the info!
I would like to ask, could a Master's Degree student in HKUST apply to the hall to live? Since I will be a postgraduate student at HKUST starting from 1st September, 2024. But since I am local student, I am not sure if a local postgraduate student could apply for hall to live or not.
Hi I'm just wondering. Hall 8 and Hall 9 have single room dorms. I am aware that it's for second year students and above. I was wondering, if I apply for a single room dorm in one of these halls what are the chances of getting a single room dorm?
Would it be hard for an international student who doesn't speak Cantonese to live in Hall 1 and 2 since they're mostly filled with locals? Would it be hard participating in hall activities at these halls?
The gym next to hall 9 is not the main gym (the main gym is in the main building at LG4). It is quite a bit smaller, but they have a few machines for different muscle groups as well as treadmills!
Being a spring term exchange student I'm really crossing my fingers that I get any of the 7-9 halls or maybe even Jockey club hall. Exchange students don't get to choose and the school just picks a random available hall with only little regard to your choice
Yes, they do! Most of them organize interhall competitions and hall orientation. Some of course are more fun than others, but all of them are good in their own ways :)
as to what i’ve seen on the hkust website housing portion, hall 7 also has the single room option where it’s just you in your room. is that true (i didn’t hear about in this video so a tad confused).
Hi! Single hall options are not available for year 1 students! They are for year 2 students or above, but there can be exceptions (for example for religious reasons), but those require a special request to the school.
I have seen all your videos … will u help me …. I applied for single room and hall 7,8,9 after seeing your video but hall 4 booked whole for quarantine that’s why no single room this year… I’m so scared about the roommate I’ll get 🥺🥲
My queen.,,,...back at it again ✨

Is the gym beside hall 9 the main gym with kinds of equipments or just treadmills and stuff?

Usually they won't put you in a hall with no other international students, don't worry~
@@kohyee I was told that we were gonna have double residency no matter what.
@@Umirua You mean have a roommate?
@@kohyee Yeah, one roommate for each
@@kohyee Well, turns out I got Hall 1... I guess it's not too bad
Thanks for the video! Is HKUST offering admission to African students'?
Do all halls have their respective societies? I've seen a couple of the promotional videos, Hall 4 being the funniest and that got me thinking.

hey, when the freshmen gonna choose the hall?
You get to choose during August usually (really close to the start of semester)
