They have a 1DK apartment with an advertised monthly cost of 183k yen, but when you look in the description the price changes to 275k per month for a 1-3 month stay, or 220k per month for a 3-9 month stay

Can you help me with this? Ps I will have enough money to buy a home in a few months. I want my own apartment but financially and since I really want to buy and apartment that I can own in tokyo and a actual traditional Japanese home in Kyoto. I would steer clear of Asakusa for several reasons ( Unfortunately I have to go there twice a week for my Pilates class). If I were you I would chose other areas.
What kind of budget would you recommend for two people living in these areas for a month, excluding the cost of renting with weave? Looking to microdose on living in Japan with my partner sometime in 2025 and try it out.
Based on what we’ve seen: For a traditional rental, a monthly rent of around ¥200,000-250,000+ (~1400-1750 USD) will easily open up many options for spacious, convenient, and relatively new apartments! If you drop it down to around ¥150,000 (~1100 USD) for two people, there will likely need to be a compromise somewhere- but still very liveable and a solid budget in general. ☺️
please i just need a little clarity, for moving into a traditional apartment in Japan the base rent could be 190k JPY for a period of 1 month, but for a first time tenant, this person would pay a rough some of 10x the rent due to several involved fees, which would allow the tenant to live in the apartment for 2yrs before having to pay the base rent amount for a 1 month stay ?
The tenant would still have to pay the 190k JPY monthly rent for every month that they stay in the apartment. All the other fees that I listed are a one-time payment that is paid in addition to monthly rent. Hope this helps to clarify things!

One thing I see NO ONE including here talking about is pet friendly apartments. if I cannot bring my chihuahua which is a pretty small dog that is well trained and assists in my diabetes (they can smell and detect blood sugar levels and alert) I cannot feel at peace enough to even try and visit long term. It would be amazing if you could give any information or where to look for such information.

Like, how would someone have their residents' card, japanese residence history, or japanese bank account if they're JUST arriving? 2) When looking at "flex" options, did you notice if any of them accept pets?

In most cases that we've heard of, people typically stay at some sort of short-term housing for the initial month or so, since those don't require as much paperwork. They first register the address with the local government in order to receive a jūminhyō (residence record). With that official residence record, they can apply for a cellphone number. And finally, they should be able to open a Japanese bank account. 2) It looks like Weave doesn't accept pets. For a pet-friendly alternative, you could check out Hmlet. That's where we stayed when we first arrived. They have furnished rentals and some of their buildings are pet friendly!

That happens everywhere. The US charges you a "temporary" fee when you pay for gas through your phone instead of walking into the shop and paying there, a fee retained until the actual transaction clears. This often falsely puts people into their overdraft, which means their bank then charges them penalty fees. It isn't tradition, it's predatory capitalistic practices.

I think for the long run, traditional rental is still more affordable. I did a quick calculation for a 2 years lease, i will save 1 million yen.

Key money is ridiculous. It’s funny in Japan how tradition trumps common sense or reason in some cases.
