- Hey everyone! Can you believe it's been a year since we moved to Tokyo?! With this milestone, we wanted to make an informative video about renting in Japan. We thought it would be fun to compare some apartments in Tokyo, and share a bit of our experience with different types of leases available here. Hopefully it'll be useful for those of you who are are planning to move to Tokyo, or just curious about the rental process!
We partnered with Weave Living for this video, and they gave us access to film their units. You can find out more about them here: bit.ly/WeavePlaceYTJM

Which apartment would you choose to live in? 😄
As somebody who's planning on moving to Japan for a year on a working holiday visa, this video is actually incredibly helpful, I cannot thank you enough for making this video! It's a shame that Weave's apartments are so much more expensive than similar rentals from different companies, as well as having the predatory practice of offering different monthly prices depending on how long you plan to rent for, while advertising at the cheapest price option they have
I’m really glad you got value out of this video! Hopefully you’ll find a suitable accommodation and have a wonderful working holiday here ☺️
As always a great high quality video. Weave couldn't have asked for better apt tour guides! I liked the Asakusa one the best because of the location so close to Orange Street.
Awww, thanks! We appreciate you always tuning in and supporting us 💕😊
Thanks ! I've been waiting for that update ❤
Thank you for watching 🥹🫶🏻
Thanks for this great information.
Wow! Super helpful as I think about retirement and possibly staying in Japan for 3 months at a time. New subscriber!
Yay! Glad this was useful, and welcome to our channel! Congrats on your upcoming retirement as well. We hope you get to spend plenty of time in Japan- it’s a great place to explore! ☺️
Yessss!!! Thank you for this detailed tour. You originally gave me the advice to check out Hmlet for short term apartment rentals. So, now I'll have to check out Weave too for our move next year! I love that you still take the time to post these informative videos between all the fun ones as well. Keep em coming!! Thanks again!
I remember that! Hiiii again ☺️ We’re really glad that our recommendations have been useful! Hope everything will go smoothly when moving time comes. Excited for you! 🙌 Thanks for watching, we appreciate your support!!!
Yay, such a cool video. Can't wait to come to Japan 😃 thanks for introducing weave place - that is awesome 🎉
Aww thank you! We’re glad you like our video ☺️ Hope you have an amazing time when visiting Japan 💕
Fantastic video very professional and I love how you present
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate the support 🥹
🥰💕 AHHHHH loved this!
Thanks for your support 🥹💕🫶🏻
Excellent presentation...! Joy!
Thank you! 💪✨
My dream is to move to Japan (specifically Tokyo) someday. This video was both amazingly helpful and simple to follow. Keep up the great work. I enjoy your channel
2 questions:
1) How would someone who is new to Japan even go about producing everything listed? Like, how would someone have their residents' card, japanese residence history, or japanese bank account if they're JUST arriving?
2) When looking at "flex" options, did you notice if any of them accept pets?
Great idea for a video!
We’re glad you think so! Thanks for watching! 😊
Beautiful home is beautiful 🥰🥰
I think for the long run, traditional rental is still more affordable. I did a quick calculation for a 2 years lease, i will save 1 million yen.
Nice and informative, you sold me on a sub
Wow, awesome to hear that! Welcome to the channel ☺
Hello, very informative video ! can't wait to be back in Tokyo. Explanations and tips are helpful and top notch. Can't wait to be back in Tokyo ! Do you now how to find a coupon for Weave ?
Thank you for tuning in! I’m glad this was useful! 😊 I don’t know of any coupons for Weave, but they’ve just launched a new building ‘Ueno South’ which is currently offering an early-bird promotion!
I would steer clear of Asakusa for several reasons ( Unfortunately I have to go there twice a week for my Pilates class). If I were you I would chose other areas.
I'd like to have the first apt but Im guessing its way too expensive
Not sure if you mentioned it and i just missed it, but what is the company you used for the flexible apartment?
nice how much is the montly rent
I liked this very much it is very helpful to me and my fiance. Although when going through the Weave stay do they accept pets? I have a cat and we plan on bringing him with us as we are studying abroad in the near fall. If they do not accept pets, what other recommendations do you guys suggest?
Thank you! We're glad this was useful! 🥹 Here's the e-mail address for contacting Weave directly: live.jp@weave-living.com
Also, our first apartment was pet-friendly, but the security deposit will be more expensive in that case- just a heads up! We posted a tour of it here: ua-cam.com/video/yLMoCqlsBtk/v-deo.html
Youd make a great estate agent 👍
Oh wow! Thank you. Glad I was able to present it nicely! ☺️

One thing I see NO ONE including here talking about is pet friendly apartments. if I cannot bring my chihuahua which is a pretty small dog that is well trained and assists in my diabetes (they can smell and detect blood sugar levels and alert) I cannot feel at peace enough to even try and visit long term. It would be amazing if you could give any information or where to look for such information.
We totally understand how that would be important! The first apartment we stayed at when we moved here was pet-friendly. If you want to see a tour of it, we have a video here: ua-cam.com/video/yLMoCqlsBtk/v-deo.htmlsi=9AM1-bUwDU5zQ-nI
Hey, I wonder if you know or recommend other flexible lease rental companies?
Yep! Here’s the one we stayed at when we first moved to Tokyo: ua-cam.com/video/yLMoCqlsBtk/v-deo.htmlsi=k32RE1Y9UJwGnh7G
Finally, i now know what the acronyms mean in renting. Hahaha been wondering what 1LDK is and all that.
Yay!!! Glad we could help. Btw, sometimes you might see “1SLDK”, and the S means storage!
I choose the cheaper ones 😂
Key money is ridiculous. It’s funny in Japan how tradition trumps common sense or reason in some cases.
