While Sheldon is at home in Texas, the rest of the gang decorate for Christmas and think about how much he has affected their lives.

Oh yes I’m a big fan of cheesecake. I don’t eat at the Cheesecake Factory very often, but whenever I travel to a city with one I will at least purchase a whole cake to bring home (you can order at the bakery at the front; you can order just slices…some friends and I have done that where we purchase slices of different kinds and when we get home we try a bit of each that we all bought, it’s why we know which ones we like that are normally on the menu and so we now only do it when they either introduce new ones or have specialty ones for a limited time). If I see cheesecake on the menu at a restaurant I’m definitely having dessert!
The popcorn tinsel dates back to the 1840s. Christmas wasn’t widely celebrated in the US in many places during colonial and early republic days. In the New England states (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island) Thanksgiving was the replacement holiday with Christmas as celebrated in Europe being full of pagan traditions and thus not appropriate for Christians to celebrate other than by attending church. In the Southern colonies/states Christmas was more regularly celebrated, but still not with the gusto as Europeans. It’s why “Happy Holidays” became a greeting for that time of year as most companies who did business across states didn’t want to offend someone who might be celebrating Thanksgiving instead. It was in the 1840s with both a larger increase of immigrants from Europe and American companies doing more business in Europe that Christmas became more widely celebrated (Thanksgiving would become more widely celebrated as a national holiday after the Civil War; the same time as the precursor to what would become Memorial Day also started). As there wasn’t yet an industry around Christmas decorations and German immigrants had brought the tradition of the Christmas tree, Americans improvised decorations. Virginia is usually regarded as the place the popcorn garlands and popcorn balls decorations began. The popcorn balls are consistently borrowed from German immigrants who made them as treats for their kids and Americans in Virginia are said to have dyed them different colors and turned them into bulb like decorations for their Christmas trees. Likewise the popcorn garland could be dyed different colors. Most American Christmas traditions of today originate in three time periods: 1840s, 1890s, and 1950s. The 1840s is when Christmas is more widely celebrated, Christmas trees, Christmas cards, etc start popping up. The 1890s sees Americans adopt a lot of British Victorian traditions such as caroling, making big feast meals, holiday plays, and of course big gift giving. The 1950s is when Christmas becomes heavily commercialized with an entire industry devoted to Christmas decorations, music, foods, entertainment, and more. The history of Christmas in the US is a fascinating thing in itself to study, especially considering how even now new traditions and such are being developed here.

Popcorn on a string is a cheap decoration that I think we did at elementary school. You just throw it away afterwards
Probably wouldn't be good if you had mice in your house or maybe even any pets.

They are not saying it's completely because of Sheldon. They are just taking Sheldon out of equation.

take leonard out of the equation and sheldon living there results in nothing happening - if leonard lived there without sheldon everything still happens - sheldon does not enter into the equation to begin with - so taking him out of the equation is bs

@@wuxin5847 man all those things are hypothetical scenarios. If there was no Sheldon, Lenard would never have come to the apartment so your argument completely breaks at the core. Yes without Lenard things won't happen either. But the sole reason of Lenard being their depends on the flyer Sheldon put out saying roommate required Whistlers don't apply. Even without Lenard penny and Sheldon would have become friends because they have good chemistry. But Lenard coming to live in that apartment accelerated things. Still without Sheldon the whole group would not exist.

@@gamerxvc3055 That's bs. Without Leonard, Sheldon wouldn't even talk to Penny. Sheldon Had no friends not even in his own Environment. And same goes for Penny. She wouldn't even entertain Sheldon, as she would've found him obnoxious. Like she did, only reason they became friends is because of her hanging out with Leonard. And Without Sheldon. Leonard, Howard and Raj would still be friends. Without Leonard, Sheldon would just live and die alone.

@@raghvendrapratapsingh2585 ok man. That's your assumption. But it doesn't make my assumption wrong. Also penny would absolutely talk with Sheldon in my opinion.

@@gamerxvc3055 Your Assumption is wrong. Penny has no reason to talk to Sheldon, Just as Sheldon wouldn't talk to Penny. Sheldon has told Penny many times that Leonard made her like Penny and tolerate her nuances. Without him there was no chance that Sheldon would ever be close to Penny.

Ah the Christmas episode S7 love this one, the what ifs are so funny and make sense enough for the cast/characters up to that point in the show. It may be probably one of those 1 room budget episodes maybe but I enjoy it.
In terms of just Sheldon a fair amount sure, some like yeah Leonard at the Cheesecake Factory, he would get his confidence from elsewhere likely but he wouldn't know where she lives across the hall from Sheldon till he came across it another way or got that confidence he lacks.
Sheldon may or may not have talked across the hall (yes Penny could have gone elsewhere besides Leonard not for sure) as much it depends as we don't see it really. They should have made an episode around that more but this one is good enough of those what ifs.
It fits the comedy but more factors not just 1 would happen for sure like any tv show/movie would so of events changing.
That and the guy across the hall in S3 elevator breaking episode too many still have been there or someone else may have then Penny, anything is possible for sure.
    Zack as usual being great.
Howard and Raj maybe or Leonard may have met Sheldon at Caltech and may have gone nah he is weird or Leonard may have never taken the apartment piece of paper/or not passed the tests.
Amy may not have met Sheldon. The rest of course happening of Penny, Bernadette and so on meeting the guys unless Howard changing maybe or getting closer as much without Penny or some other girls later who knows.
Raj being comfortable around others maybe either without Penny and the drinking to over time others.
Never thought about the popcorn and string thing seen in somewhere before besides this episode not sure what traditional or relevance it has unless popcorn like baubles/tinsel kind of thing no idea.
Popcorn is ok usually get jelly candy/lollies at movies or Easter then chocolate or popcorn. Popcorn is fine.
Caramel isn't great or iced or whatever that other is. Salted is fine I think.
Stuart has his great moments for sure here or the more he appears.
Cinema price for 1 film may be what it is but snacks aside what is it to rent/buy digital too not streaming and access via the subscription. It can be about the same maybe cheaper maybe higher so it's basically a cinema trip cost for 1 person at home in a way.
Then the DVD/Blu ray release being whatever the case as well.
