    I had the honor of presenting at the ‪@linkingyourthinking‬ conference yesterday. As I took notes on the other awesome presentations during the conference I noticed there is a visual linking pattern I repeatedly use. I wanted to quickly capture this in a video so you can all benefit from this approach.
    In this video, I explain how I use Obsidian Excalidraw and the “Deconstruct selected elements into a new drawing” script to carve-out parts of an existing drawing and use this image to link my notes and create a visual thinking framework. I show how I connect my notes from Nick Milo’s keynote presentation on the ACE framework and Thiago Forte’s Code framework using Obsidian Excalidraw.

    Brilliant work here Zsolt!
    I noticed a question on your drawing, "why no distill in ACE"? Because "distilling" is not fundamental to many creative workflows, it encourages note-taking over note-making (creating), and it may imply that information can be reduced to a true essence (which de-enriches ideas). "Distilling" is de-emphasized in ACE to be "one of many" aspects of Connecting. Connecting emphasizes "emergence", which I believe is a truer interpretation of what is happening as ideas are connected and mixed together. Also, Express isn't at the end of a long process few get to, it's half of the process (as you intuitively showed with your Organize/Express dichotomy beneath it).

      Awesome! Makes sense. I also agree that distill and express overlap and together form something like create. In my interpretation though distill does not always mean finding the essence, but rather distilling the story that I can tell others (in this sense distilling is the act of sequencing your linked ideas into a story you can articulate)... which reminds me that there is a process of converting linked concepts to sequences of words that I should add to the story about John and Wendy... ua-cam.com/video/iYCsHTO3-8w/v-deo.html

      @@VisualPKM I like to think of distil as extracting the essence. When I want the essence and supporting context I like the terms reduce and reduction. Sometimes the context vector comes from links but can also be embedded into the note. I take the concept features and try to find the best way to capture the semantic clusters, but I can never make my mind up, and the representation is always influenced by my preexisting knowledge and never pure. I try and discover symbolic rather than wordy relationships, but I'm not good at that. Distillation and reduction can lose subtleties within the signal and reduce cohesion. (and now I don't know what I'm talking about).

    When I use the decompose button, I receive just the code in the new excalidraw-note - at the original place of the excalidraw-note and at the decomposed one. How could I fix this issue?

      Best to share a screenshot as I do not fully understand. You can open issue here and include a screenshot: github.com/zsviczian/obsidian-excalidraw-plugin/issues

    Help. Is it possible using this plugin to draw notes on the margins of a PDF file like goodnotes does?

    • @VisualPKM
      @VisualPKM  Рік тому +1

      Not at this time. One of the very next features is the ability to add PDF pages as "printouts" to the whiteboard which will allow you to move pages around and draw around the pages. I am about 8 hours of work away from being able to release such a feature - I have everything required in place... only can't seem to find the 8 hours since for weeks now...
