Uno is your best friend on set cuz you get to not only meet people but u get to know their personality cuz if they have a good vibe and become friends on set that’s the best thing cuz you get to see each other over and over agin
RoxasFoxtrot Yes! I’ve been wanting to buy Uno to bring to set. I haven’t played it in forever. I love talking to other actors and asking them about their experiences. You can learn so much from other background actors.
Things I bring. My own makeup, brush and hair ties. Also advil, allergies medicine (I'm allergic to some type of medical ingredient) mouth wash and deodorant.
Hello, thanks for your helpful tips! Newbie here, just about to start BG work. I'm wondering if security is usually well controlled for your belongings while you're on set? For example when everyone's things (bags/phones/notebooks/ipads etc) are left in a holding area, have you ever experienced any security issues with "missing items" when you've returned from the set to the holding area? Thanks!
Hey! 😊 I have not experienced that but it is not guaranteed as they often change locations and have a lot going on. I recommend bringing something that is not too valuable to set.
@@BelgicaPaola oh definitely, it was good to be prepared! I was so busy that in the end the tiredness hit at about 3 but we were almost done then. It was a brilliant day 😃
Thanks :) I am pretty sure it is the color Patina in Stila's matte liquid lips. Not an affiliate link. lol www.stilacosmetics.com/collections/lipstick/products/stay-all-day-reg-liquid-lipstick?variant=33132310364263
I’ve been accepted for a pretty big film, I’ve been told how I don’t need to bring my own clothes and they’ll style me which is quite cool! They’re also doing my hair and makeup which I cannot wait for
Do you mean if they don't tell you? If they didn't tell you, you should read the instructions again as they probably did. Otherwise, it is pretty safe to assume they want you to come with natural looking hair and makeup.
Love your videos😍 I’m a core background artist for a show in Chicago but I want to travel and do more shows movies etc as extra or in acting any advice or recommendations
RoxasFoxtrot Thanks so much for the compliment! The biggest thing is to start acting classes if you haven’t already. Then I would say to submit to and audition as much as possible.
@@victoriaureno9736what casting agencies do you guys use? If female, we have to do our own hair and make up? I’m guessing some of the shows are Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, now also The Bear
I always carry a set chair (folding chair in a bag) many sets have hard folding chairs that are uncomfortable. Set chairs are a hassle on shuttle vans but are a godsend on long days. I always carry a thin fleece jacket even in the summer, I am currently on core on a hospital TV series where the set is as cold as a real hospital. Lastly a small makeup bag with Tylenol, lip balm, and eye drops (whatever you need). Background can be a fun part-time or retirement job but take care of yourself and be comfortable and well-rested for a long shoot.
Every background actor job I’ve done required me to bring multiple sets of clean/un-wrinkled clothes, which I had to carry in cheap suit bags ($5.99 each at Target) to keep them clean, but then when I’d get to the set they’d ALWAYS say that I looked fine in what I was wearing (Just a plain shirt and cargo pants…….go figure!), so whatever but it was just kind of a pain in the *ss because I had to haul all those suit bags with me on the Metrolink and all the Metro buses for NOTHING!🤬
LittleMakeupChannel Yes! I also love listening to book when I’m in traffic! 👍🏽 You can use the link the description to get your first book for free. :)
Yeah, pretty sad, but I'm sure you know how the show business is like. You make 1 or 2 mistakes and BAM!! you automatically get banned or "black-listed" and your dream of becoming a Hollywood actor is permanently shot. Ridiculous but true.

I was an extra for a couple of years when I lived in New Mexico. Great suggestions! One thing I would add is comfortable shoes.
Yes! Thanks 😊👍
Really helpful video. I’m gonna be an extra on gen V season 2 on monday. Very excited.
Yay! I hope you have a lot of fun!

should I come to the place dressed or do I get dressed later? this is my first job as a background actor as I am very nervous.
You should go with your best outfit or the one for the first scene if they give you the info. Don't be nervous, you will do great!
I also like to bring some things to freshen up with. Like deodorant (but spray on or non scented), lotion, etc.
Queen A Thanks for watching! And thanks for the tip! That’s a great point. I also like to bring single packaged wipes! Aka Feminine wipes.
Belgica Paola Rodriguez yes there a lifesaver
Love the idea of the playing cards! I'm about to head out to be an extra on a TV show!
Have fun!

Do I have to bring my social security card and ID or just my ID?
Some ask for the physical SSC. If you are comfortable, safely take both.

Yeah, you can bring a small bag with some items you don't care about too much as you'll have to leave them in the holding room when you go to set.

That should be okay 😊
