what I love about this is Enola Holmes is so independent and Tewksbury respects and even admires it. They can both be individuals and very self-sufficient yet care deeply about one another. As a very ambitious, self-sufficient women, this is really meaningful to me as it is often sold you need to be a servant to your partner or spouse. Here, it is the opposite. Moreover, rather than your partner being your world, they are the cherry on top. Put differently, they enhance your life, not make it. Just like her mother taught her, always put the individual--or really, yourself first. Of course, being too isolated and independence for certain individuals can have its downsides, as she starts to learn more in the second movie, but regardless, I still find this kind of relationship touching and important to see on screen.

There's a reason more than half of all marriages end up in divorce. It's not because people are independent, but because there should be mutual respect and genuine admiration of the other, not just fantasies of what your spouse is supposed to do and be for you.
