@ttgautam21 All the airports I've seen in US have fences. Boston Logan has a sea wall because it's basically built on the water. And guess what? A plane did come in short of runway and crashed right into it! Delta flight 723, in 1973 - all 89 on board died. That walls not even above the runway, but proved just as dangerous.
it was at the beginning of the runway when landing. you can clearly see from the video that the pilot misjudged and mishandled the landing of the plane
AIN’T NO BIRD CAN BRING DOWN AN AIRLINER, OR BAD WEATHER WHEN IT IS GOOD WEATHER. WHAT BS.🤬COMPLETELY FAILED LANDING GEAR, PILOTS CANNOT SLOW DOWN OR EVEN CONTROL THE PLANE. THIS IS SABOTAGE, OR ANOTHER BOEING FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE MAINTENANCE, OR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION.🤬
If it wasn't for that wall, atleast some of passengers would have survived. Any fast moving vehicle crashing into a strong concrete wall will suffer damages and casualties. Hence airports across the world must urgently review their protective mechanisms at runways. Period 😤😤😤
It wasn't the bird strike that sealed their fate it was the barrier that shouldn't be there that caused a blunt force trauma resulting as well for the ripping of the wings with fuel to burst and explode.
Combination of pilot error and the wall. They touch-down the plane almost at the end of the runway. The wall aside, better pilot decisions alone could have saved them.

Why did the landing gears didn't came out..?I am sure the bird strike won't damage that which is concealed till the plane is in final position to make a landing..also,why was middle of runway choosen to finally make the landing in there..?
More like 3/4 of the way when they landed. They managed to successfully engage the landing gear on the first landing attempt...so I don't know why it wasn't done the second time when they landed. Maybe the pilot forgot about the landing gear..
It is not always one reason for fatal accidents. It is multiple variables and factors that go wrong as a chain event. In accident analysis it is called the Swiss cheese model. Where a line goes through all holes in the Swiss cheese perfectly, representing the chain of events where mistakes happened leading upto the entire accident.
If the plane has no landing gear then it will slide the length of the entire landing strip. The control tower crew is aware of the issue but does not inform the pilot that there's a concrete barrier at the end of the runway that will destroy the plane and kill everyone aboard!? This is criminal!!
737s have done belly landings before. This runway was 2800 meters long, which is excessively long for a runway for a plane that size. Palki correctly reported that there were no flaps or slats deployed and I should add there were no reverse thrusters, meaning that the pilots failed to deploy any braking. That braking is NOT affected by birdstrike, it's part of a normal checklist that the pilots inexplicably failed to do. The usual procedure for a 1 engine landing is to slow your roll, circle the runway while completing all necessary checklists, and then execute a 1 engine landing, which is perfectly safe and has been done thousands of times. Pilots train every 6-18 months on how to do it. The checklists can take many minutes, maybe half an hour. These pilots instead turned around and, within maybe 5 minutes, attempted another landing. They rushed it, simple as that.
That's why is urs called an emergency landing, one with limited time and ability to change the course of circumstances as well as make appropriate decisions
I suspect due to a bird strike both engines and landing gears were shut down, and they had no choice but to land the plane ASAP. The manual operation of the landing gears takes more time than they had. The concrete walls should not be placed at the runways. This is not a pilot's error this was an architect's error.

If you are a technical expert do tell me how a bird strike should impair its landing gear to an extent that we have to see a landing like this in middle of runway..?Also mister robert,is it established that this plane had fuel issues because of which they didn't had time to manually and otherwise take control of its landing gear.
You are just trying to cover up pilot error by blaming wall, I blame the wall and pilots equally all the aviation experts have told this can be nearly impossible to happen that all hydraulics being failed and they probably didn’t followed checklists so don’t say anything
Despite of hydraulic failure, boeing gives manual options to deploy landing gears. Also, the belly landing requires numbers of checklist from emptying fuel on air to land at the proper touchdown with controlled speed. Here, all these processes seems missing. After the investigation, the panic situation of pilot will come out.
The concrete is not at the end of the runway; it's at the beginning of the runway. The pilot landed in the opposite direction, which shouldn't be the case.
I believe for safety issues there shouldn't be any concrete wall or obstacle at the beginning or end or near the runway. The Korean aviation authority is largely responsible for that disaster.
Everyone on that flight would have survived. If not for that concrete FENCE at the end of the runway. That's what killed the people. This is the worst design ever of a runway This is murder.
Are you guys kidding? The plane is never supposed to go to that far end, it’s clearly either the plane or the pilot. All airport runways have boundary lines to ensure security.
That wall is in the area in front of the runway. The pilot landed from the opposite side after making a 180 degree turn after he abandoned the first attempt to land.
Many could have survived if the concrete wall is not there. What is the purpose of the concrete wall at the end of the runway? Have not the authorities thought that the concrete wall is a dangerous structure in the runway in the event an airplane suffered a problem.
Good reporting Palki. The show did pin the blame on nothing, until analysis of the 2 black boxes have been probed. Another networks put the blame on big birds like eagles, frozen chickens, etc. Thank you.Water, please. Adios
Pilot error also contributed to this disaster, not just the wall. They panicked and rushed things through. Perhaps it could have been a totally different outcome if the pilots had made better decisions. I understand those pilots are rookies.
The pilots made errors. Pure and simple. Bird strikes are common and single engine landing are something pilots train for constantly. These pilots attempted to land and didn't do their training, electing instead to rush around for another go at landing. 5 minutes isn't enough time to do all the necessary checklists to ensure the flaps and slats are correct and the working engine can deploy reverse thrust, and the plane could have landed no problem. But when flaps aren't deployed the 737 will float on the runway, it's hard to stick the landing, which is why they landed so far down.
The first antenna array was knocked over during a storm. In order to ensure that this would never happen again the antennas were erected on a stout concrete wall that was clearly visible to equipment operators. This structure proved its robustness when a jet weighing over 100 tons travelling at 200 MPH failed to dislodge it.
It was a very sad disaster both machine and human error. Why land in such a small airport and runway when there is such major airport nearby. Why ATC made this choice even if pilot made wrong decisions. Why plane free fall or gravity landing gear didn't work. It's more of suicide from pilots and murder from ATC side. Why land 250 meters away from concrete wall. It's like driving a cal at 200 Km/hr to a wall.
In that short period you expect they have already extended the landing gear and flaps and ready to land by the time they receive bird warning It is just 10 min and you expect them within the vicinity of the airport and on steady descend definitely not at high altitudes cruising So the birdd story could be public anger messaging
my take is that the pilot knowing that the wheels were malfunction had the confidence he can land the plane without them as you can see how level the plane was , but what he didn't realize was that there was a wall at the end of the runway that now people question why was it there ? Why not just fencing ?
The pilot got panicked and thought the land gear was already open from first landing attempt. He went ahead to land thinking the landing gear was on . That’s why, none of two survivors remembered any emergency except the bird episode.

I don't think that was about malfunctioning in the landing gears due to bird strike as the gears are inwards. According to the mayday call and also the passenger's text, it's possible that the birds did indeed strike on the Engine. However that doesn't let any impact on the landing gears, planes can safely use them for landing. The real problem that seems is with the wing FLAPS, which may not open if the engine is damaged. As flaps are essential while landing because they help with balancing aerodynamics of the plane, the Pilot decided to BELLY LANDING WITH FAIL ENGINE & NONFUNCTIONAL FLAPS (perhaps he also wanted to avoid stalling of the plane). I'm aware of the plane landings with one or no working engine. To avoid the disadvantage of flaps, the pilot could've followed the original landing plan or holding pattern to increase the drag/air resistance, in case they had a few more minutes. Belly landing has been successful in previous occurrences hence that decision is understandable. But he might've feared engine explosion, and probably panicked and rushed things in a few minutes by using only less than half of the runway. so that concrete wall to save the localizer or what ?
Wrong landing, the pilot should have try to in circle before it land
Did u listen to the video the plane was hit by a bird and one engine is turn off what u think can do in a situations like this 🤔
@@rajithasheran.k6532he didn't listen, let him listen again
Planes can take off using one engine ever heard of TO/GA? @@rajithasheran.k6532
@@rajithasheran.k6532 philippines airlines have situation like this engine failures landed safely on the street of america ,this airplane have landed in runaways plentynof room to maneuver its clearly pilot failures
@@rajithasheran.k6532 there are many line of faults which build up a crash, he is right abt it
Am I the only one that is saying that the engines are still running? You can hear the engines running while that thing is just going like crazy fast. The thing should’ve been slow down in the air and the engine should be turned off soon as it comes to the runway, this was intentional. This is not some thing Out of the ordinary, as far as the pilot, trying to commit suicide!? was there insurance money being claimed!? through this this is total nuts. These poor people were treated like bait! 😢
Hello!!?? 😢❤ this world is so corrupt when it comes to people trying to make money off dead people!!
There’s definitely something wrong with this picture😮
so sad and unfortunate
Forget about what problem the plane or pilot was happening, it's the wall at the end of the runway that caused this crash landing to crashed.
i dont see any landing gear, and why there is concrete wall also where is the RESA ??
My condolences 😔😔😔😔😢😢😢
Don't blame Boeing. Blame airport engineers...
Rest in peace. Condolence to bereaved families. 😢
Rip to the deceased. Thank God for the survivors
Looks human error
Looks like airplane malfunctioned and then the pilot and the air traffic control made a bad situation aweful.
@mattmatt6572 yes. But there are basic rules to land on grasslands to minimize damage. Also if aircraft had fuel it should gave kept circling to take stock of situation. Thinks there is a lot that will come out of investigation
