    • @beadifulnights
      @beadifulnights  6 років тому

      Thank you! I was thinking about doing that, I am happy you asked me. After I filmed the video I discovered that other people have made the tattoo chokers with stretchy cord, but the original ones are actually made with monofilament, which is more durable. The original one is connected by attaching one end to the other, then side a seed bead on both pieces and melt the two ends together with a lighter. I made one with clear monofilament last night and it worked. I am on the hunt for colored and black monofilament. I love them as bracelets and anklets.

    How do you make the penny button?

    • @beadifulnights
      @beadifulnights  6 років тому +5

      Hi Patty, First you want to find copper pennies. Look for Lincoln Memorial penny has a date before 1982, it is made of 95% copper. If the date is 1983 or later, it is made of 97.5% zinc and plated with a thincopper coating. Once you collection you copper pennies, mark two dots on the pennies with a sharpie marker then drill your holes on a block of wood, that you don't care about. Then hit the penny with a ball ping hammer on the block of wood. Doing this will dome the penny. A nice indentation will form in the block of wood. So every time you dome another penny put it in the same indentation. It will hold the penny in place for you and make perfectly domed pennies. You can clean the shape marks off with rubbing alcohol when you are done. It is a lot of fun to do and it is no big deal if you ruin one cause it only costs a penny, lol! I hope this made sense and was helpful to you.

    Aleshia, can you tell me why you put the freshener packages in with the leather cording? I know the freshener packages prevents tarnish with findings, but what's their purpose with the cording? Thanks. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

    • @beadifulnights
      @beadifulnights  6 років тому

      Hi Becky, my aunt gave me the large bag of leather your saw. She told me in order to keep the leather from getting hard and brittle store the leather in bags with the silica packs. I told her that I save silica packs from things that I buy like shoes and medicine bottles. She told me that I can actually purchase silica packs in bulk on amazon, so I did. I have been putting them everywhere all my findings, chain, metal beads and I loaded my jewelry box with them too.

    • @beckyb4074
      @beckyb4074 6 років тому

      Thank you Aleshia. I'd ask about the purpose of the silica packages before. I thought they might have been good to put in with leather materials to keep them from molding. I have bought some leather pieces/clothing that I wanted to take apart and use to make chokers and stuff. But some is trying to mold on me, I know how to clean the mold off, but was hoping to find some way to store leather and not have to clean each piece as I need to work with. Also, I'd asked or left other comments in couple of your recent videos, but I always seem to be too slow to get my comments in on time to get answered. Thanks again. Hope you are well.
      Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

    How long does this bracelet measure?

    • @beadifulnights
      @beadifulnights  6 років тому

      The length will depend on the size of the beads you use and the size of your button. The one I did in the video is 8 inches. I used 28 - 2/0 seed beads for my 8inch bracelets. I made a 7 1/2inch for my mom I used 24 - 1/0 seed beads. Just in case you don't know, 1/0 seed beads are bigger than 2/0 seed beads so you won't need as many.
      My buttons added 1 inch to the length of my bracelet, if your button is bigger you won't need as many beads. It is best to try it on as you go. I wrapped it around my wrist till I had a 1 inch gap then I added my button. The nice thing is that if it is too small or too big, you can easily take the knots apart to remove beads or add them if you need to. I hope I was helpful to you thanks for watching!
