Here's my opinion. I like the look of original beetlejuice better. with BJ2 they tied in the animated series and other versions of him in other media to a degree with his appearance, making him rounder even older than in the first film. This was a design choice by Keaton which I get but original BJ has that special place. Like you said, the original figure does lack accessories. he will come with a stand but its a generic stand. This figure is actually a re-release, they had a previous version which sideshow did release with a LED tombstone. Neither are no longer available. Im preordering both figures. The hot toys version actually does look way better "in person" when you see videos of the prototype. the sculpt does look spot on in the videos vs the photographs. I will just distribute the accessories between both figures. As for the previous comment, he does in fact have a nail file and you can see him use it in the first film. When Lydia asks him to help the Maitlands hes sitting on a tombstone filing his nails. he was "waiting" for her. it was a spoof on cartoons where a character files their nails and waits for a supporting character to ask them for help. Rewatch that scene and see for yourselves. I'm also making my own version roughly 1/4 scale with exchangeable outfits (his classic striped suit and his wedding tux) and I might also make his tombstone with LEDS installed.
Awesome video! I just wanted to clarify it's not a nail file. It's long piece of paper he got telling him when he'd he seen ( like the dmv lol)and it was a ridiculous number😊 so he tried to trick the shrunken head guy by trying to distract him and switch their numbers cuz his was next( the shrunken head dude) I'm glad he's in it lol
Another amazing video as always. Love the definitive take Series. Looking forward of your definitive take of Luke Skywalker down the road. Stay blessed, stay awesome. 🤟😊
I was torn when HT revealed theirs, but I ultimately decided to keep my preorder for the Sideshow figure because it's from the first movie and I like the head sculpt better. If I had unlimited funds, I'd get both and head swap the SS head onto the HT body with the diorama.
I’ve just gone with the Sideshow. Agree about the limited accessories but the first one is my ‘memory’, even though I really enjoyed the sequel. I do love the eyeball head sculpt but it’s also quite painful to look at as a shelf item 👀👀👀👀👀👀 Sideshow PLEASE give us a couple of BOB, DAVE figures 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 That would be awesome as a pair on the shelf (yellow suit Bob + BJ) 😎
I think the reason people think the headsculpt is slightly off is because there are no distinctive Keaton arched eyebrows, but more the no-brows look like Uncle Fester. As far as I can see the new movie is inconsistent with that?

Great topic. I’m sticking with the Sideshow version. I’d like to see a Luke Skywalker comparison.
