I may have missed the history of this truck, but this morning for some reason I remembered McLean transport. In the early 80's they were running red Brigadiers with about the same wheelbase, with Shiny 290's and straight 7-Spds. Just a random thought.
It was a small company in Indiana and then a yard truck for several companys.
What's up
Yep, listen to that old Holset turbo whistle...another 855 Cummins comes back to life!
Awesome to see. Watched it sit for the past 3 years everday. COOL to see her running
Thanks Andrew, and you share a little part in its resurrection...Thank YOU. And for watching.
I snagged an 88- Brigadier with an L10 Cummings and a 7sp ex Coka Cola tractor, sun visors have logo and part #s for--hoses,belts ,brakes, wheelbearings, seals ,bought at auction and only has a 100k miles runs good too.. good #s to you.
Yes the part numbers (5 pages) are on mine too. Pretty thoughful of GM. Thanks for watching!
I think the straight pipe on it is the way to go plus with the rain cap on too
The GM key definitely sold,it!,,, and the ‘proper’ shifter. Always wanted a runner.
That's the best music I've heard in a long time. 300 Cummings turbo whistle baby!
Oh ya! For sure, she’s gonna go to a hollowed out muffler straight for a little tone creation lol.
Cant wait for the other GMC Cracker Box!!! Love all your trucks man. Nice work collecting.
Brad,
I've driven both, not a day cab cracker box, but one with a sleeper, and a day cab Brigidigider, thought both would beat me to death. Rough riding, but for what they were got the job done. Still I enjoy seeing them being saved, and made to run again .
I'm retiring in 97 days and looking forward to it. Maybe I can find me an old truck for a hobby.
@@bertgrau3934 They don't look comfortable at all and like you said it will beat you. LOL Just cool looking. You should do the truck hobby thing, its great to see guys doing this! Congratulations on retiring. Don't sit around though!
Congrats on the startup Dane , Little 300 sounds good , yes a straight exhaust will sound Awesome ,,👍👍👍👍
Hi
Hi Dane, that cummins sounds really good, nice and smooth, but my favorite truck engine is the 6/71 Detroit, I love all Detroit engines like most of the guys on this site, nothing like a Detroit pulling a load while the driver is going thru the gears.
You cant beat an old Cummins. Sounds pretty good. And they have a Sound of there own. Just like they all did back in the day....
It is alive.
Love it! I was close with 1 minute!! Sweet
Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 Even with Covid attacking I can enjoy a good truck video. Somehow, I missed this one, but I’m catching up. Man, that Cummins does sound good and the turbo spools up nicely! 🧐 The same steering column as the General…I guess a tilt steering column, right? It’s been a while since I’ve seen those. I know a guy who has a little cab like that. They were great little city trucks! 🤩 Great stuff! 😎✌️🥰
Yes it sounds really cool, I didn’t think I’d like it but that turbo sings!😬
That's a good Cummins engine. It's not a Low Flow. That's enough to make me jump for joy. Hey Dane, it's got a few "whiskey dings" but its got a good steel frame and a good steel cab and a Cummins motor. Only thang it needs is a gun rack.
Lol! your right...and a rebel flag. Oh well yes its gonna remain a "Bruisor" of sorts. Mean and nasty. Hey, Thanks for watching!
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I wouldn't miss your show. I did what you and your buddies are doing in the 70's and 80's when it wasn't cool. Even the trucks weren't cool then but I bought them because they were cheap and easy to work on.
Might wanna check the health of that turbo. Louder isn't always better. Looks like it runs great though!
The turbo sure has one powerful whistle to it. Sounds smooth though.
Sweet she is
Hi... I have an 85 Brigadier with a 3208...use it to pull my gooseneck race trailer.
Where did you find a new ignition switch ??
I haven't had any luck looking up a part number.... Thanks
Ordered it in 4 parts. If you email me I'll send the ebay links. soulman@gwcmail.net
Old diesel engines never cease to amaze me starts and runs like it’s only been layed for the weekend , try doing that with a modern computer controlled engine In thirty year’s time
Hey I found a dodge cabover in Monroe MI it's at Satellite's auto wrecking on route 24 right in Monroe
Sweet! send pics to the email link on here if you can. Thanks for watching!
Must have a big leak in the pipe under the front cab?
Correct, they removed the flange turn down pipe while it sat outside. Gonna address the exhaust, new alternator fluids filters etc now.
Good job! Looks like the biggest challenge will be body work on the l/h side.
I’ve had a quote but will see if that’s the route I wanna go. I wanna keep it mean and looking like it’s all business but we shall see. 😬

Need to be careful, you can easily get more into an old truck or car than what they're worth. It can be fun though, and that's very difficult to put a price on. Good luck Sir
Sounds like the fuel being old could be why it took so long to start. I would suggest you add about a quart of oil to each fuel tank when you add fuel. Today's fuel doesn't have nearly enough lubricant as the older fuel did.
Congrats on the successful first start and let the restoration move forward!
Did you have any problems getting the truck to start? Like having to bleed the injectors? it sounds damn good! That truck and I are the same vintage! 1986!
Not at all, you basically saw the entire startup. Can’t wait to get that bad boy drivin down the road!😬
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE it’s going to turn a good truck! I can already tell! I would keep the straight pipe on it and leave the rain cap on I can already tell by the Peterbilt Cabover that you done you are going to do an excellent job on the birgadier! One question about the Brigadier you said it sat five used before you got it?
Hey brother love the videos keep great content coming and you please honk the air horns on the brigadier for me if you don't mind and make a video of it for me please
Man, that whistle is annoying. I'd take the turbo 6-71 over this engine any day.
Nice that whistling turbo is the best
it'll balance out with an exhaust soon too. Thanks for watching!
