Kā zvaigzni tālās debesīs
Un skumstu tikai par to vienu,
Ka mīlēt mūžs man dots tik īss.
Tāls ceļš līdz spožai debess pļavai,

Kas man kā tāla zvaigzne šķiet.
Līkst augstu gaisā debess loks,

Is there a literal English translation of the entire text or is the English version "Long Road" already the rough translation of it?
I just heard this performance brought on my local NPR station (in Fort Pierce, Florida). What an amazing piece of composition! What a beautiful and magical performance! Ēriks Ešenvalds and Arvo Pärt are quickly becoming my two favorite contemporary composers!!

Perfect tempo, perfect expression. This piece is often taken just that tiny bit too fast. Sublime.
So funny I’ve been saying this about so many renditions and this one was perfect. That languid beauty that just allows you to settle into its beauty. 🌹
