    Back in the early 80's I was a weapons troop stationed at Nellis. The F-15 was my first love. Then I went to Torrejon Spain and worked on F-16 for 3 years. I love the 16 too. We never had an ammo loader that worked, we had to take turns using the giant speed handle. Man that was a lot of work!

    • @gutsberserk2718
      @gutsberserk2718 2 роки тому

      That is because your loading stations are at waist or lower chest level. Depending on where the F-15 is seated stations can be around 7 ft high. So balance and load 350-380lbs then do it 10+ more times. Also the all 9s are loaded by hand and the UAL-LALs don't always come with air, if you are loading multiple jets you will run out and be loading by crank anyways.

      A major flaw/cover up on the F-15 was discovered by the USAF in the early 80's. This was about the P&W F-100 engines. Early in the F-15 service, adjustments were made. Not all were clearly explained by Whoever. A ACMI range is off the coast in the Norfolk, Va. area. Langley F-15's (4) were to do ACM with 4 F-4E's from Seymour-Johnson NC. As the A/C met at the ACMI Range, they were told that the computer for such died, and the exercise was cancelled. Being miffed by this, one F-4 driver suggested they have a Drag Race. Why not? Line abreast, 600 kts on your mark, go. The F-15's immediately shot ahead, as expected. They got so far ahead they could barely see the F-4's in the rear mirror. Then the Phantom's got larger. And then they shot by the F-15's! That should not have been the case. P&W was toying with settings to satisfy reliability issues. At the expense of peak power. Heads rolled at P&W if I recall. Then GE introduced the F-110 to the fleet while P&W got it's stuff together.

      Tony . your comparing apples to oranges here, the a10 was designed to be a tank killer, a in your face kind of killer, it could take a lot of ground fire and still survive, the F35 on the other hand would kill you 100s miles away where it would be safe, you wouldnt know it until the missile hit you in the face

      Bussy Painter94 the colors means nothing, during hours of darkness or inclement weather (anytime it isn’t sunny) we have to wear a reflective belt on the flight line. Common practice is to just always wear it. These reflective belts come in different colors for the wearers preference.

      Active combat, they'll have everything in position, ready to be reloaded immediately after landing. I'd assume about 30 minutes for refueling and reloading
      For when they anticipate combat, it's probably closer to 40-45 minutes, as they need to haul out all the munitions and get them into position for loading.
      And for training purposes, probably close to 75-90 minutes, just for them to take their time and not fuck anything up

    I spent nearly nine years as a Weapons Technician on F-4E, F-15 and & F-16 fighters; with many years as a Weapons Load Crew Chief. These people are not professional! Nowhere in this video is a CHECKLIST being used and/or available. This is BAD! The load certifications for these crews would probably be "busted" if caught by Flight Line QC, or Load Standardization. It would make for a very bad day for these folk's Supervisors, Shift Leaders, and Flight Chiefs if they were caught without having the proper checklists and using them as trained. I have seen personnel receive non-judicial punishment (Article 15) for this issue.

    • @gutsberserk2718
      @gutsberserk2718 2 роки тому

      All aircraft take a while to load. The F-15C is one of the shortest because it is strictly air-to-air. Full/mother load takes around 40-60 min. Bombers take multiple hours and multi-role fighter jets can take well over an hour. I was Aircraft Armament for 14 years. I worked on F15-Cs for 6 years and E models for 4 years.

      Old comment, but I used to be a jammer (the thing carrying the missile) driver here. I’ve literally had them catch fire, wheels fall off, hydraulic lines burst, everything you can think of happen to them. It’s what you get with 50 year old equipment

      @@jakeclark798 And seriously, if you're in the military defending a country you/they deserve the best machines, firearms, armor etc etc!. This penny pinching they do and using such equipment till it gives out finally and can't be taped back together just irritates me big time.. It all plays a part in the fighting so if just one part of it slows down or fails it fails right down the line which can cost someone or even a lot of people their lives, so again it makes me mad to hear how you guys are just having to limp the equipment along like that.. Maybe I'm just going to the extreme here but still. Anyone who puts themselves on the line or helps keep the soldiers on the ground moving forward deserve the best in my opinion without question and I'd like to believe that someone with serious pull will do right by all those doing the hard work and the hard fighting by getting them what they truly need.. Sorry for rambling on here but thanks again and take care. 🍻🇺🇸💪
