I have used these callipers for years in woodworking. Only had to change the battery once. For woodworking they are good enough.
Bought item in Aldi or Lidl for around 10 euro.

Maybe it's a transatlantic deal but normally Vernier calipers over here refer to slide or dial calipers that can read to the .0001 decimal place. You can also get vernier gauges on micrometers for fine readings. They're much more common on micrometers than calipers actually.

I remember getting my digital measuring thing from Aldi for £7.99. There many things I hate about them. 🤣🤣

The main problem with the cheap digital calipers, apart from the accuracy, is the electronics. They seem to drain the battery even when not in use, whereas quality digital calipers don't.

Interesting, these are supposed to turn off so hopefully they will be ok... Not too worried about accuracy as I will probably use just for overhead videos and basic dimensioning with the thicknessor... My go to is the Rabone Chesterman since they are so solid xx

@@WallyboisWoodworking Those Rabone look good, I will keep an eye out for them. Mitutoyo are the industry standard, highly regarded.
Interesting to see how the cheap ones do. They do switch off but they continue to drain the battery even when switched off. It is a known thing with the cheaper ones. It's fine but always have spare batteries. If you like them you can always upgrade.
They are great for a quick check.
I have a few cheap sets, but a friend of mine bought me a DML set for doing little jobs for him. They seem to be a good quality and don't drain the battery.

I have a digital Mitutoyo and the only thing I don't like is when you switch to inches it gives you inches in decimal form so you probably would need a conversion chart.
I suppose thats all it can do.
