The United States Of America have neglected these Hawaiians of Sikaiana till this very day. In 1856, when Hawaii was offered the sovereignty of Sikaiana, the Privy Council voted to accept the cession. King Kamehameha IV approved the action. However, the great distance of the atoll from Honolulu made administration impossible, and according to the white mans conclusion and short sighted understanding the cession was never formalized.
@@melanesianwayofthepacificp8787 Only because the United States (white man) did not accept them as part of Hawaii, King Kamehameha (Hawaiian King) already accepted them as Hawaiian blood lines of past expeditionary voyages.
