Dear Graeme. You have helped me in the past so I hope you will give me some hints on how to bid this hand. I was West, and North opened 1C, My partner put in a double, I had 8 points, 4D and 4C, 2h and 3 spades. So I bid 1D. My partner east then bid 2c. Not that it comes up very often but I thought she either has a lot of clubs or it is a Cue bid (5/5 in the majors). Not knowing what it meant and all I could depend on was at least an opening hand I passed. It turned out that she had 21 points. She wasn't very happy about me not bidding, but is there a way she could have shown me that she had a big hand so that I would know.
I’m no expert, but this is what I think: By X’ing and then bidding a new suit (forcing bid) over your response, partner was showing a monster hand. (18+ hcp). She chose to bid that way because her hand was too strong for an overcall, which you would have been free to pass.
Excellent !! Bajir please take Graeme to the end. I know is difficult for such a expert, but is very important to me
I enjoyed the bridge philosophy presented here. Thanks guys.
Such good advice - thank you!
Hi Bajir how can I see the end of this hand?. It's very interesting 👍
Brilliant !

Taking this long to figure out who has what will not work. We only have a limited time to play each hand before we have to move on!
Spoilsports, not playing the hand to completion!!!
