If Cole says it's a great beginner piano, I trust his opinion so much this Granny is going to look into this. It's a great price, doesn't need much room. Love the plug in head phones for practicing.😍 🎹 🎶p.s. great marketing Donner 😜
So great to see your talent being recognized by music industry companies. Must say, you have a great professional presenting manner. You are a gifted soul. 👏👏👏
EXCELLENT COLE, Very professionally presented by a young man who clearly knows what he is talking about. Donner should be more than satisfied with your review which for them, must be well worth donating the keyboard to you. I thought, when you used it on the "gig" in Southampton that the tone of the instrument was very good and as you say, the appearance and really ideal as a portable keyboard. Loved that you played a bit of Claire de Lune. You were doing some further work on that one and many of us can't wait to hear it all again.
Cole, when I saw this piano my first thought was how portable is it and then how does it sound. It didn't dawn on me, at first, that you had it, or one like it at that Toastmaster event. Well you answered both questions in a very professional presentation. Good job!aa,Lya,ssah💖
Another of many outstanding presentations of products, intros and even a stern lecture to an IP thief. And all were professional way beyond what can be expected from an excellent student lacking either speech or debate experience. Everyone recognizes that sharp mind and unflappable demeanor we love. I agree with the suggestion of comparing the three instruments with numerics for some of their various aspects would have really pinned down your considerable judgement. You may find instead of spring rains, it pouring instrument manufacturers.
I actually purchased this Donner DDP-800 and after playing it to get the feel of it and the sound, I returned it. I was disappointed, not in its looks, which I think looks gorgeous and so retro mid-century modern, but in its sound. It just did not sound good to me, I’m talking about the upper register, just sounded too tinny. It’s unfortunate as it’s a very nice looking instrument.
It could be the speakers maybe. I have used it properly for playing outside using plugged in amp and it sounds very good. Also with earphones too it was nice
Hei Cole, thanks you so much for your review. I have a quick question. What whould you choose beetween Doner ddp-80 +, Yamaha P-145B and Casio Celviano Ap-270?
Thanks! I haven't tried the other 2 so cannot really comment on those. Having weighted keys is good and the balance is very good on the Donner. Some people might prefer semi weighted keys but if anyone wants to play on a real piano eventually then definitely start with proper weighted keys!
Great review! A year later do you think it is still worth it? I love the look of it but I would need to carry it around a lot, did you find a case that could accommodate it securely? I'm trying to find out the exact specifications (size and weight) to look for a compatible case but there is very little information on the actual dimensions of it without the legs so if you could measure it that would help me a lot. Thanks!
Nice presentation! I admit, immediately when I saw that video you played on some conference/meeting, I did research on DDP-80. It surely looks different from many others and I really like it. It may be very well room ornament and also usable piece of "furniture". I am sooo close to buy it because I still do not have piano with hammer technic and full 88 keys but at the same time, I do not want another piano with hundred voices and rhythms. I have digital piano which "piano" sound I do not like at all. If you could give personal opinion about piano tone quality (depth, natural and not digitalized sound, harmony) on this one, DDP-80, what rating will it be from 1 (worst) to 10 (best)? In term of sound quality is it equal or comparable to DDP-100?
To me it sounds the same as the DDP-100, as I said in the review, you almost can consider them the same with different looks. The really nice thing about the Donner is the hammer weight. It's more than just weighted but hammer weighted. To me as a pianist, that's really important, the feel. If someone just wants "a keyboard" then maybe it does not matter but if they are a pianist that's really important. For sound, it's a 7 I think. It's sampled like all the other digital pianos so part of it depends on what you like to hear or the preference. Kind of like if you play on real pianos, do you like Yamaha, kawai, Steinway, bosendorfer, Fazioli or the many different pianos.
@@ColeLam Thank you very much for your time and effort you put in this reply. Everything is on point, I agree about different piano sounds from different manufacturers. Score 7 is actually surprisingly very good and yes, hammer weighted keys are something I would like to have, even if I play just occasionally and purely for fun and soul.
@@fotosinet I think it's personal preference, but it's certainly "good". Have a listen to the one in the event, it is recorded from the audio out so is exactly what it sounds like
Depends on what you are looking for. If you are beginner or an good learner, or playing for own enjoyment, then yes. If you are going for grade 8 or a diploma then no, but that is the same for every digital piano.
It might as the speaker is pointing down. It is fine on the 4 legs it is on though. But if you put on a table (without legs) then the speaker would fire into the table

I just bought one of these (awaiting delivery!)and found your honest review to be so helpful. Thank you.

Hi Bob, yes it is the same one and very nice sounding. Also that proper sostenuto pedal means I can play everything

Good on you mate. You went out of your way to do this review. Good review.
I love this for you. You presnt this very well. That people want your feedback on their instruments. You are amazing Cole keep up the good work.
the piano is an amazing masterpiece with a talented and professional young pianist and that is Cole 👌👌👌😀😀😀
I think this is a great option to connect to USB MIDI for tracking in a home studio environment. I can’t wait to get this!
Good review! I see Allie Sherlock reviewing the same piano this week, clever advertising by Donner and great for you too as you get a free piano!

Will check but dimension should be on their website

HI Cole, thanks for the review! Just a small question, does the piano wobble or shakes when its being played vigoriously or after a few months?
No. Really stable
Do u recommend buying the donner ddp-100?
Depends on what you are looking for. If you are beginner or an good learner, or playing for own enjoyment, then yes. If you are going for grade 8 or a diploma then no, but that is the same for every digital piano.
Do the speaker position limit you to needing a stand or raised on a flat surface?
It might as the speaker is pointing down. It is fine on the 4 legs it is on though. But if you put on a table (without legs) then the speaker would fire into the table
Why wouldn't you also include in the recording the sound of the speakers? The only sound example in the video is the audio out capture
Nice
how much did donner pay you to say donner didn't pay you? =] jk
Haha. Nothing.
